ODESSA - Martha Delia Huitron, 43, a housewife, died Wednesday, July 2, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel with William Perez officiating.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in Juarez, Mexico and she lived in Odessa for 17 years. She was a Jehovah's Witness.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Ernesto Huitron of Odessa; sons, Jeremias Huitron and Ernesto Huitron, both of Odessa; daughter, Rebecca Huitron of Odessa; father, Homero Cantu of El Paso; mother, Florentina Cantu of El Paso; brothers, Antonio Cantu, Oscar Homero Cantu Jr., Ovidio Cantu, Omer Cantu and Joel Cantu, all of El Paso; sister, Esmeralda Reyes of California; and two grandsons.

Ed Keys

ODESSA - Ed Keys, 71, a retired lawyer, died Monday, July 7, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kathryn Strempke officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was born in Harlan, Ky., and he lived in Odessa since 1991. He was a Navy veteran and was a Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Nancy Sue Keys of Odessa; sons, Peter Keys of Silver City, N.M. and Randy Keys of San Angelo; daughters, Katie Baker of Las Cruces, N.M., Victoria 'Tori' Steen of Odessa, Staci Mary Baker of Midland and Rhonda Higginbothan of Odessa; sister, Wanda Pickard of Dallas; and five grandchildren.

Effie Myers

MONAHANS - Effie Viola Myers, 97, a housewife, died Monday, July 7, 1997, at her residence.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Monahans Memorial cemetery with the Rev. Barry Klempauner officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery.

Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

She was born in Moran and she lived in Monahans for 34 years. She was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Margaret Durham of Dallas; sister, Faye Whitson of Monahans; and one grandchild.

Joe Ray

GATESVILLE - Joe Paul Ray, 63, a retired mail carrier, died Sunday, July 6, 1997, at a Temple Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Hopkins officiating. Burial will be at Greenbriar cemetery. Arrangements by Scott's Funeral Home.

He was born in Oglesby and he was a longtime resident of Odessa before moving to Gatesville. He was a Navy veteran who served during the Korean conflict and was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Jane Ray of Odessa; sons, Mike Ray of Flower Mound; Joe R. Ray of Lewisville and Danny Paul Ray of Odessa; sister, Maggie Frazier of Gatesville; four grandchildren and two step- grandchildren.

Johnny Velardez

PECOS - Johnny Tarango Velardez, 75, a laborer, died Sunday, July 6, 1997, at the Pecos Nursing Home.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Garcia officiating. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

He was born in Pecos and he was a lifelong resident of Pecos. He was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Niece, Frances Orona of Pecos.

Dorothy Layton

MONAHANS - Dorothy Pauline Layton, 79, a homemaker, died Saturday, July 5, 1997, at Hendrick Hospital in Abilene.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Monahans Memorial cemetery with the Rev. Gordon Cox officiating. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

She was born in Marion County, Iowa, and she lived in Monahans. She was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Janet Beaman of Houston; brother, Ralph Helmick of Whatchea, Iowa; sisters, Lucile Moorly of Lacarte City, Iowa, Neva Mathews of Harvey, Iowa and Ester Dannels of Newton, Iowa.

Sandra Reeder

ODESSA - Sandra Lee Reeder, 49, homemaker, died Thursday, July 8, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Don Caywood officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Brownfield and lived in Odessa. She was a member of the Odessa Christian Faith Center.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Louie Reeder of Odessa; son, Michael Paul Reeder of Pasadena; daughter, Janie Eileen Reeder of Globe, Ariz.; father, James Walker of Plainview; brother James Richard Walker of Odessa; and eight grandchildren.

Rodell Rosemond

DENVER CITY - Rodell Render Rosemond, 75, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, in Denver City.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Lynn Dill and the Rev. W.D. Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Denver City Memorial Park. Arrangements by Roger Pool Funeral Home.

She was born in Port Sullivan and moved to Denver City in 1966.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Louis Rosemond of Denver City; sons, Eugene Rosemond of Lamesa and Tommy Rosemond Jr. of Denver City; daughter, Shearon Rosemond Hawkins of Denver City; brother, Nathan Render of Denver City; stepdaughter, Dollie Rosemond of Denver City; 16 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren and six great-great- grandchildren.

Rosa Smetak

FORT STOCKTON - Rosa E. Smetak, 93, a homemaker, died Monday, July 7, 1997, in Fort Stockton.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Fort Stockton Funeral Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Agnes Catholic Church with the Rev. Charlie Geller officiating. Burial will be at St. Agnes cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

She was born in Frenstat and moved to Fort Stockton in 1944 from Sidney, Texas.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Earnest Smetak, Rudolph Smetak, Ben Smetak and Junior Smetak, all of Fort Stockton, Paul Smetak of Killeen and Charlie Smetak of Big Spring; daughters, Francis Schultz, Lillie Bean and Donna Verette, all of Fort Stockton, Margie Schultz of Stephenville, Rudy Tyson of Camden, Ark., and Dorothy Wilkerson of Proctor; sister, Mary Rejcek of Hillsboro; 31 grandchildren, 36 great- grandchildren and 5 great-great- grandchildren.

Christine Butler

IRAAN - W. Christine Butler, 69, died Thursday July 10, 1997, at Pecos County Memorial Hospital in Fort Stockton.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Wright officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Edith Ford Memorial cemetery in Canadian with the Rev. Hiram Reyes officiating. Arrangements by Richard W. Box Funeral Homes.

She was born in Gladstone, N.M., and moved to Iraan in 1980. She was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Husband, R.Q. Butler of Iraan; sons, Ralph Smith of Tijeras, N.M., Phelan Ray Butler of Circleville, Utah, Ronald Butler and Loren Butler, both of Arlington; daughters, Diane Monroe of Iraan and Debra Cochrell of Higgings; sister, Agnes Bishop of Wellington and 21 grandchildren.
