AUBREY — Ruby Faye Calhoun, 74, of Frisco, a retired registered nurse, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, in Cypress.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Belew cemetery with the Rev. William Peirson officiating. Arrangements by Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.

She was born in Cuthbert.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Ronald L. Calhoun of Cypress and Michael D. Calhoun of Frisco; mother, Effie Cain of Stanton; and sisters, Maxine Kelley of Stanton, Oleta Flowers of Daingerfield and Delores Boyer of Corinth.

Edward Downing Sr.

ODESSA — Edward K. Downing Sr., 83, of Odessa, a retired educator, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Scott and White Hospital in Temple.

Public visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cook-Walden Capital Memorial Parks Mausoleum Chapel in Austin. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Valley Mills and was a longtime resident of Odessa. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Jewel Downing of Odessa; and sons, Edward K. Downing Jr. and John G. Downing, both of Odessa.

Guadalupe Garcia

MARFA — Guadalupe "Lupe" Garcia, 71, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at an Odessa hospital.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.

She was born in Colorado City and had been a resident of Marfa. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Son, Gilbert Garcia of Odessa; daughter, Sylvia Hinojosa of Odessa; brother, Anastacio Arrieta of Marfa; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Woodrow Jordan

ODESSA — Woodrow "Woody" Jordan, 88, of Odessa, retired owner of an automotive machine shop, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Avalon Place.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dick Brown officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Irma, Mo., and moved to Odessa in the 1930s from Tulsa, Okla. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Peggy Jordan of Odessa; son, Mark Jordan of Odessa; daughter, Darla Auten of Odessa; and four grandchildren.

Faye Meek

ODESSA — Faye Meek, 86, of Odessa, a retired licensed vocational nurse, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at her residence.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Caprock Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Vaughn officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in San Antonio and moved to Odessa in 1989. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Jimmy Clyde Meek of Belflower, Calif., and Bobby Ray Meek of Yuma, Ariz.; daughters, Judy Foreman and Ruth Harper, both of Odessa; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Inell Sproul

FORT DAVIS — Inell Newton Sproul, 79, of Fort Davis, a retired employee of Fort Davis State Bank, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at a Fort Davis care center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church with the Revs. James Stephen, John Davenport and William L. Timmons officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.

She was born in Throckmorton. She was Presbyterian.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Eugenia Sproul Lott of Albuquerque, N.M.; brother, John M. Newton of Princeton, Idaho; sisters, Billie Jo Coffman and Quetana N. Drumm, both of Princeton, and Audrey N. West of Alto, N.M.; and a granddaughter, Kerith Sproul Timmons of Fort Davis.

James Stovall

ODESSA — James Truett "Red" Stovall, 75, of Odessa, a retired employee of Ector County Independent School District, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Hospice House.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Belmont Baptist Church with the Revs. Rex Clayton and Rick Stovall officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was born in Eastland County and moved to Odessa in 1951. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Jimmie Sue Patterson of Southland and Barbara Martin of Odessa; sons, Richard Dale "Rick" Stovall of Shreveport, La., Andy Coats of Lubbock and Randy Coats of Odessa; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Jeanie Bowie

PECOS — Jeanie Arlene Bowie, 62, of Pecos died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at her residence.

Services are pending with Pecos Funeral Home.

Amy Ledford

BORGER — Amy Ledford, 97, of Borger died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, in Borger.

Services are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors in Odessa.

Maureen Curtis

ODESSA – Maureen J. Curtis, 65, of Odessa, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at her residence.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James Otterness officiating. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Chapel.

She was born in Nottingham, England. She was Lutheran.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Alfred W. Curtis of Odessa; son, Gerard A. Flannery; daughters, Nelda J. Moore and Kelly Anne Flannery, both of Odessa, Cindy Ida Ruth Knight of Gustine, and Shelagh Marie Phillips of Austin; brother, Michael Brooks of Forest Town, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England; fifteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Donald Dansby

BRECKENRIDGE – Donald Mark Dansby, 42, of Breckenridge, a carpenter and real estate salesman, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home Chapel, with Charles Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Breckenridge cemetery. Arrangements by Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

He was born in Carlsbad, N.M. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Heather Dansby of Odessa; father, Donald M. Dansby of Artesia, N.M.; mother, Francis Boyle of Comanche; brother, Richard Dansby of Odessa; sisters, Karon Jones of Comanche, Missy Olivas of Comanche and Glinda Kennedy of Okmulgee, Okla.

Lesley Duffer

BIG SPRING – Lesley M. "Less" Duffer, 86, of Big Spring, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Robert Turner officiating. Arrangements by Myers and Smith.

He was born in Bowie County.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Sybil Duffer of Big Spring; son, Kenneth Duffer of Big Spring; daughters, Linda Strickland and Anna Mahan, both of Odessa; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Juanita Prieto

MARFA – Juanita "Jane" Prieto, 82, of El Paso, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in an El Paso medical center.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Merced cemetery.

She was born in Ruidosa and lived in El Paso for 50 years. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Brother, Gregorio Prieto of El Paso; and sister, Frances Perez of El Paso.
