JOPLIN, Mo. - Eugene 'Jim' Cookerly, 72, of Goodman, a retired postal worker, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., after an illness.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Chapel with the Rev. Bob Simon officiating. Arrangements by Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Chapel.
He was born in Joplin, Mo. and was a lifetime resident. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

UTOPIA - Laura Pauline Matthews, 80, of Utopia, a retired bookkeeper, died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Sid Peterson Hospital in Kerrville.
Services were held Sunday at the Utopia Church of Christ with George Keelin officiating. Burial was at Jones cemetery. Arrangements by Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. She was born in Sabinal.

She was born in Bay City, Mich., and had lived in Odessa since 1946.
