Billy Ray Tidwell

KERMIT — Billy Ray Tidwell, 74, of Manor passed from this life in Austin on Thursday, June 7, 2001. He was born April 20, 1927, to James Edward and Grace Marie Roundtree Tidwell in Wortham. He married Patricia Mather Nov. 27, 1980, in Andrews.

Billy was a special man and will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Tidwell of Manor; five sons, Ronnie Tidwell of Odessa, Danny Tidwell and wife Tammie of Sonora, James Tidwell of Lake Brownwood, Scott Mather of Manor and Lonnie Mather and wife Claudia of Tenn.; two daughters, Rita and L.B. Shifflett of Novice and Sheryl and Jerry Oberle of Bastrop; three brothers, Kenneth Tidwell of Andrews, Don Tidwell of Euless and Teddy Tidwell of Odessa; three sisters, Doris Thomason of Odessa, Anita Lakey of Liberty and Linda Tidwell of Odessa; eight grandsons and seven granddaughters; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Grace, and brother, Bobby.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2001, at Kermit cemetery with the Rev. Ted Short of Andrews officiating.

Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home.

Armando Gonzalez Jr.

ODESSA — Armando Gonzales Jr., 40, of Odessa passed away Thursday, June 7, 2001, in Fort Stockton. He was born Dec. 5, 1960, in Hobbs, N.M. He moved to Odessa 15 years ago from Hobbs. He married Malinda Paysinger Nov. 18, 1990. He was a toolpusher supervisor for Timbersharp Drilling Co. He was Catholic.

He was preceded in death by his father, Armando Gonzales Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Malinda Gonzales of Odessa; daughters, Kimberly Ramirez of Hobbs and Brianna Gonzales of Odessa; mother, Carolyn Lopez of Plainview; five brothers, Joe Gonzales, Ray Gonzales, Diego Gonzales and Saul Lopez Jr., all of Hobbs, and Billy Gonzales of Plainview; three sisters, Syndee Martinez of Plainview, Maria Fyke of Carlsbad, N.M., and Rosie Lopez of Odessa; and a granddaughter, Alisa Ramirez of Hobbs.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Little officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

June Carter

ODESSA — June M. Carter, 79, of Odessa died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Pocatello, Idaho. She was Presbyterian.

SURVIVORS: Son, Paul Carter of Odessa; brother, Carl Herbel of DuBoise, Wyo.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Kathryn Chaney

MONAHANS — Kathryn Chaney, 84, of Tyler, a homemaker, died Saturday, June 12, 2001, at Tyler County Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Monahans Memorial cemetery Pavilion. Burial will follow. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

She was born in Corona, N.M. She was Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Richard T. Callison of Tyler and Fred Chaney of Dallas; daughter, Marietta Stewart of Woodville; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Juanita Gee

ODESSA — Juanita Gee, 78, of Odessa, a real estate broker, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jim Ray Brown officiating. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

She was born in Liberty and moved to Odessa in 1953 from Lovington, N.M.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Tom Gee of Odessa; and sister, Doris Williams of Hot Springs, Ark.

Robert Gille

MARFA — Robert H. Gille, 84, of Marfa, an independent contractor electrician, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Home Hospice House in Odessa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Conner officiating. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home and Memorial Funeral Home in Marfa.

He was born in Moran, Mich. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Billie J. Gille of Marfa; daughter, Jeanne M. Grijalva of Port Orchard, Wash.; stepson, Jody Freeman of Carlsbad, N.M.; and several grandchildren.

Bennie Green

MIDLAND — Bennie "Ben" Joe Green, 63, of Midland, a salesman, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Midland Memorial Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Buelah Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Troy Barrington officiating. Burial will follow at 5 p.m. at Necessity cemetery in Breckenridge. Arrangements by Pipkin Funeral Home.

He was born in Brownfield and moved to Midland in 1971 from Lubbock. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Patsy Green of Midland; daughters, Sherrie Ireland of Lubbock, Glenna Morawe of Wichita Falls, Kathie Millen of Leander and Cindy Loos of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sons, Tommy Green of Calif., Ken Green of Midland and Charles Baker of Fort Worth; stepmother, Marie Hawkins of Odessa; brothers, Wayne Hawkins of Ryan, Okla., Don Hawkins of Katy and Larry Hawkins of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Louis Jackson

MIDLAND — Louis "Jack" Dwight Jackson, 68, of Midland, a mechanic, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at a local nursing home.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at Fairview cemetery with the Rev. Elijah W. Austin of Lubbock officiating. Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Home.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Sharon Rogers of Midland; sons, Joshua Dee Rogers Jackson and Patrick Jackson, both of Midland, Stacey Gilbert and Mark Gilbert, both of Odessa, and Charlie Jackson of Bryant; daughters, Kimberly Jackson of Dallas, Rochelle Leneare of Fort Worth, Tamika Douglas of Big Spring, Brandy Strader of North Carolina; Lynn Jackson of Houston and Brenda Jackson of Lubbock; brother, Melvin Johnson of Bryant; sister, Omma Jean of Bryant; and 15 grandchildren.

Octavia Martinez

ALPINE — Octavia Salazar Martinez, 91, of Alpine, a homemaker, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at an El Paso hospital.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.

She was born in Dulce, N.M., and was a longtime resident of Alpine. She was Jehovah’s Witness.

SURVIVORS: Sisters, Josephine Sundown and Pearla Rogers, both of Santa Fe, N.M.; and brothers, Gilbert Salazar and David Salazar, both of Santa Fe.

Wanda Thompson

ODESSA — Wanda Marie Thompson, 78, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Maud, Okla., and moved to Odessa in 1959. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Everett Thompson of Odessa; and sister, Marjorie Sanders of Morristown, Tenn.

Margaret Frankson

ODESSA — Margaret Eldred Frankson, 82, of Austin, a homemaker, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Gracy Woods Nursing Home in Austin.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Frey officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in Scio, N.Y. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Peter Frankson of Odessa and David Frankson of Gatesville; daughter, Judith Lee David of Columbia, Penn.; sisters, Arlaine Thorp of Austin, Bettie Lee Yerka of Ithaca, N.Y., and Ruth Henderson of Jamestown, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Rose Nelson

ROCKPORT — Rose Rita Nelson, 67, of Rockport, a homemaker, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at a local hospital.

Services were Friday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Don Butterfield officiating. Burial was private. Arrangements by Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes and Crematory.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had been a resident of Alpine for 17 years before moving to Rockport. She was a Jehovah’s Witness.

SURVIVORS: Husband, George H. Nelson of Rockport; son, George H. Nelson Jr. of Italy, Texas; daughter, Ann Parke of Alpine; mother, Mary Avoy of Columbus, Ohio; brother, Harold L. Fossum of Palm Bay, Fla.; sisters, Barbara J. Fossum and Janet Roccisano, both of Brooklyn; and two grandchildren.
