ODESSA — Mr. Albert L. Hickerson died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at his residence.
Private memorial services will be held in Austin by his immediate family.
He was born Oct. 11, 1916, near McQueen, Okla. He married
Billye Howington Bailey Dec. 29, 1962, in Odessa. She preceded him in death in 1994. His son, Russell David Hickerson, also preceded him in death Jan. 16, 2001.
Survivors include his first wife, Geraldine Hickerson of Austin, seven children, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The children are Lucretia Love Hickerson of the Seychelle Islands, Lester Brooks Hickerson of Englewood, Colo., Carl Henery Hickerson of Austin, Melanie Jane Hickerson of Austin, Cynthia Hickerson of Bastrop, Helen Deborah Hickerson Nelson of Livermore, Calif., and Riley Gerald Hickerson of Austin.
He was a member of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers, Natural Gas Processors Association, Natural Gas Men of the Permian Basin, Permian Basin Petroleum Association and The Salt Institute. He was a member of the Odessa Country Club and an avid golfer.
He was the owner of Permian Brine Sales Inc. since 1958. He installed the first brine well for the mining of salt for use as a drilling fluid in the Permian Basin. Originally, he had worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. for 20 years in various supervisory, engineering and operating positions.

Joe W. Hill
ODESSA — Joe W. Hill passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 23, 2001, at Avalon Place in Odessa.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. today, Oct. 25, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Johnny Thomason and Robert Black officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Joe W. Hill was born April 26, 1918, in Temple to J.J. and Alice Hill. He had worked as a police officer in Temple for five years before moving to Odessa April 1, 1958. He married
Rita T. Ratliff Aug. 28, 1982, in Odessa.
Joe worked for the Odessa Police Department for 24 years before retirement in 1981. He was a former constable of precinct No. 4 in Odessa and had also worked as a security guard at the American Bank of Commerce for five years after retiring from the police force.
Joe was a member of Temple Baptist Church, a lifetime member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Andy G. Vaughn Masonic Lodge and the El Maida Shriners and the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang.
His seven brothers, B.D., Glen, Stanley, Flay, Leonard, Earl and William Hill, and a sister, Virginia, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Rita T. Hill of Odessa; a daughter, Martha Jo Black and her husband Robert of Plainview; a stepson, Ned Lee Ratliff and his wife Nancy Jane of San Antonio; a stepdaughter, Jean Wills and husband Ted of Odessa; a brother, Wayland Hill of Temple; sisters-in-law, Johnnie Mae Hill and her son Johnny of Temple, Marjorie Hill of The Woodlands and Margie Hill of Huntsville; grandchildren, Clint and Kristen Black and their son Samuel Clint Black of Shreveport, La., and Sarah Ellen Miller of Waco; three nieces; and 12 nephews.
Minnie Lee Perry
ODESSA — Minnie Lee Perry, 64, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at her residence. She was born Nov. 7, 1936, in Farmerville, La.
Mrs. Perry moved to Odessa in 1972. She was a longtime employee of T&L Grocery & AM Van Line. She was a member of University Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by a son, Toby Burns in 1996.
She is survived by a son, James Paul Burns of Gatesville; daughters, Cathy Steadham of Odessa and Kim Hernandez of San Antonio; brothers, Mack Bearden, Vaughn Bearden and Bobby Bearden, all of Farmerville, La.; sister, Audrey Brooks of Pinebluff, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and former husband, Clyde Benford of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Robbie Van Stavern officiating.

Ronny Armstrong
ODESSA — Ronny Armstrong, 47, of Odessa passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at his residence. He was born to Joe and Beulah Armstrong on Feb. 26, 1954, in Odessa.
Ronny grew up in Odessa. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1972. He served in the Marine Corps from 1974 to 1979. He worked for Red’s Casing Crew. For the past year he was employed by Pizza Hut on Andrews Highway.
His father, Joe Armstrong, and brother, Derrel Wayne Armstrong, preceded Ronny in death.
Survivors include his sons, Joe Slaton Armstrong and wife Miracle of Odessa and Eric Nathaniel Armstrong and wife Kristy of Odessa; daughter, Alicia Dawn Armstrong of Odessa; mother, Beulah Gentles and husband Lawrence of Odessa; grandmother, Ruby Norwood of Odessa; and four grandchildren, Kristin Sue Chandler, Jamie Nathaniel Armstrong, Marilyn Dawn Armstrong and Zachary Lee Armstrong.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Terry Pugh officiating.

Rita Ann O'Reilly
ODESSA — Rita Ann O’Reilly, age 72, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at her residence. She was born March 4, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., to Adolph and Catherine Blake.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today, Nov. 7, 2001, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Francis Frey officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She married
Thomas B. O’Reilly on May 8, 1948. They moved to Odessa from Chicago in 1952. He preceded her in death in 1996. She touched several lives as a daycare provider for many Odessans. She will always be remembered as a caregiver who would always go the extra mile. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She had been Mother of the Year, a member of the Prairie Dance Club, American Legion and Eagles Lodge. She loved bowling, needlework and bingo, and she was very involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives.
She is survived by her sons, David T. O’Reilly and wife Cathy, Tom J. O’Reilly and wife Karen and Tim J. O’Reilly and wife Missy, all of Odessa; daughter, Shannon Simpson of Odessa; sister, Audrey Hawthorne of Clearwater, Fla.; and grandchildren, Shea, Callye, Dylan O’Reilly, Cody, Stace, Katie Shannon, Kinsey O’Reilly, Justin, Shelby and Shane Simpson, all of Odessa.

Barney L. Alsobrook
ABILENE — Barney L. Alsobrook, 87, of Waco died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Baker Heights Church of Christ at 5382 Texas Avenue in Abilene with John Shero officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill cemetery in Abilene.
Mr. Alsobrook was born Aug. 1, 1914, in Lubbock. He married
the former Elzabelle Watson on June 30, 1938. She preceded him in death Jan. 26, 1998, five months before they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Mr. Alsobrook was an oilfield chemical salesman for Exxon Chemical for over 35 years. He was also a Bible class teacher and an elder at congregations in Alice, Abilene and Odessa. He was well known for his deep bass voice, his humor, his wise counsel, his generosity and his ability to fix almost anything for anybody out of almost nothing.
He was preceded in death by a son, Barney James ‘Jim’ Alsobrook.
He is survived by daughters, Judy Greene of Friendswood and Ila Thompson of Waco; daughter-in-law, Lynda Landreth of Dallas; brothers, Jerry Alsobrook of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Julian Alsobrook of Galveston; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Reeder of Dallas, Scott Greene of Friendswood, Jonathan Barney Alsobrook of Denver, Colo., Stephen Alsobrook of Dallas, James Thompson and Timothy Thompson, both of Waco; and a great-grandchild, Corey Reeder of Dallas.

Donna Sue Hummer
ODESSA — Donna Sue Massey Hummer went to be with her Lord on Sept. 28, 2001. She was born Dec. 25, 1952, in Kiowa, Kan. She lived in McCamey and worked for Midland International Airport Security.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today, Oct. 2, 2001, at Vine Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her fiance, James Roberts; two sons, Robert W. Massey of Denison and Raymond Massey of Dayton; parents, Ray and Evelyn Lane; sister, Mary Massey; brother, George Jackson; niece, Windie Reed; and nephew, Billy Massey, all of Odessa. She had two wonderful grandchildren, 6-year-old Zachary Mathias Massey and 2-year-old D’nai Cassianna Massey.

Linda Gale Kevil
ARLINGTON — Linda Gale Kevil, 53, passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harmony Baptist Church, 1814 W. Arkansas Lane in Arlington.
Linda Gale Kevil was born March 24, 1948, in Fresno, Calif., to Frank and Elsa Delay. She was a customer service representative for Conway Transportation Services. Linda was a five-year resident of Arlington and a former resident of Odessa, where she was in property management.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors: Husband of 19 years, Robert Kevil of Arlington; children, Kimberley McGlothlin and her husband Patrick of Arlington, Jacey Stiles and her husband Gerald of Longview, David Kevil and his wife Lisa of Houston and Christina Heffernan of Houston; grandchildren, Coby, Christopher and Kianna Boyles, Clay Stiles, Troy and Shane Kevil and Jacqueline Heffernan; and sisters, Betty Wittie of Odessa, Frances Whitehead and her husband Bennie of Abilene, Sue McAnear and her husband Ronnie of Midland and Faye Roberts and her husband Jerry of Odessa.
