Iva Lee Williams Stewart
TYLER — Services for Iva Lee Williams Stewart, 89, of Odessa will be at 3:30 p.m. today, Nov. 24, 2001, at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sherman Mayfield officiating. Burial will be at Williams cemetery under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Stewart died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at an Odessa nursing home. She was born March 10, 1912, in Omen Community. She had been a resident of Tyler for 40 years and moved to Odessa in the 1970s. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Odessa and Bethel Baptist New Chapel Hill and a homemaker.
She married
Roy Williams on Nov. 17, 1928. He passed away Sept. 16, 1983. She then married
Ben Stewart on May 10, 1991. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Arp High School.
She is survived by her husband, Benjamin F. Stewart of Odessa; daughter and son-in-law, Jerrie and Jimmy Smith of Odessa; brothers, George H. Arnold Sr. of Refugio and Billy R. Arnold Sr. of Universal City; grandchildren, J. Scott Smith and wife Grace of Odessa and Tana L. Cooper and husband Steven of Schertz; great-grandchildren, Joe McFarland of Schertz and Lillian and William Smith of Odessa; and stepchildren, James Stewart, Tilda Jones and Martha Hector.
Pallbearers will be Kendall C. Williams, T.L. Williams, Louis H. Arnold, Billy J. Arnold, Jesse Copeland, Billy R. Arnold Jr., Ralph D. Parman and Don Williams.
Jo Ann Jernigan
SAN ANTONIO — Jo Ann Jernigan of San Antonio, formerly of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2001, at the age of 75. She was born on February 18, 1926.
Her husband, Vernon Hubert Jernigan, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters, Verna Lynn Jernigan and Cheryl Thomas and her husband, Dickey, one grandson, Michael, and a host of other loving family members and friends.
Private services were held Friday, November 23, 2001.

Ricardo Dominguez
ODESSA — Ricardo Dominguez, 35, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Mich.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Christ of the Nazarene Church. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Viewing will be today, Friday and Saturday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.
He was born Oct. 28, 1965, in Odessa. He was a manager for Ryan Restaurant. He was Christian.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Bailey-Smith of Eaton Rapids, Mich.; mother, Irene M. Dominguez of Odessa; son, Brandon Houck of Eaton Rapids, Mich.; daughters, Cassandra Dominguez of Clute, Texas, Semantha Houck and Mariah Harris, both of Eaton Rapids, Mich.; brothers, Hilario Dominguez of Midland and Crespin Dominguez and wife Donna of Odessa; and sisters, Lydia D. Pearce and husband Jack, Delma D. Abila and husband Ricardo, Bertha D. Ramos and husband Israel and Ester D. Rodriguez and husband Apolonio, all of Odessa.

Burkley ‘B.H.’ Jones
ODESSA — Burkley “B.H.” Jones, age 87, of Odessa was called home by the Lord to be reunited with his family. He was born April 23, 1914, in Eastland to B.H. and Cordie Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Jones was raised on a farm in Haskell County. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He later came to Odessa to live with his brother, William V. Jones and his wife, Cora Lee, in 1956. His dedication and love to all children was immeasurable. He was a continuous source of happiness and joy to his family and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, a beacon of light in the storm.
He is survived by his nieces, Dorothy Stroud of the home and Patricia “Baby” Kelley; nephew, Virgil Jones Jr. of Midland; and numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews.

Alice Riene Roper
ODESSA — Alice Riene Roper, 94, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born April 28, 1907, in Dumont. She was a homemaker and of the Jehovah’s Witness faith. She had lived in Odessa since 1990.
Mrs. Roper was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Roper in 1987, and son, Arlen Alvin Roper.
She is survived by sons, Homer Lee Roper of Carlsbad and John Neal Roper of Bowie; daughters, Lois M. Selwinder of Denver, Colo., and Rosanell Harrington of Odessa; 28 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Dumont cemetery in Dumont with Bishop Aldon Leighter officiating.

Ira Verneil Cox
ODESSA — Ira Verneil (Nell) Cox, 73, of Odessa died Tuesday morning at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center. She was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Jayton and had been a longtime resident of Odessa for more than 40 years.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The joy of her life was spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.J. (Cotton) Cox.
Survivors include four children, daughters Linda Harris and Louise Cox and sons Danny Cox and spouse Sherry Cox and Dean Cox and spouse Connie Cox, all of Odessa; sisters, Faye Franklin of Farmington, N.M., and Jo Schreiber of Llano; and brothers, W.L. Thigpen of Saginaw and James Thigpen of Marble Falls. She had 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Colorado City cemetery.

Carl Everett Hostetter Jr.
ODESSA — Carl Everett Hostetter Jr., 71, of Odessa passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at his residence in Evanston, Wyo.
He was born Dec. 2, 1929, in Best, Texas. Carl was a man with a great heart, always helping family and friends. Carl worked in the oil business all his life. He worked for several major oil companies throughout many countries. He settled in Evanston in 1980. He started his own oil business HSD Services and Chaparral Well Service until 1987. Then he retired.
He is survived by a sister, Thelma Hostetter of Cisco; three sons, Sammy Hostetter of Odessa, Ken Hostetter of Evanston and Trey Hostetter of California; three daughters, Carlene Hostetter Rhodes and Christine Hostetter, both of Odessa, and Tawny Stewart of Kilgore; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at Ector County cemetery with Emmett Barnard officiating.
R.W. ‘Woody’ Keen
ODESSA — R.W. “Woody” Keen, age 82, of Odessa died Oct. 1, 2001, at Hospice House. He was born Jan. 17, 1919, in Gail to Olin and Delvia Keen.
He graduated from high school in Sierra Blanca. While in high school, he met Betty Yarbro, and they were married
July 15, 1940, at her home. They were married
over 61 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II; he was stationed mostly in India. After the war, he worked for El Paso Natural Gas in construction and then at El Paso Products. They moved to Odessa in 1958 from Farmington, N.M. At age 70, he opened his own machine shop in Odessa, Keen Company. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He was a “Jack of all trades” and could fix anything from soup to nuts and often did. He lit his family’s light and changed their world.
Two brothers, Tom and Billy Bob Keen, preceded Mr. Keen in death.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Keen of Odessa; a daughter, Guida Gaconnet and husband Rick of Weatherford; and a grandson, Travis Keen Gaconnet of Weatherford.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Door of Hope Mission and Hospice House.

Bobby Blaine Roach
ODESSA — Bobby Blaine Roach, age 73, of Odessa passed away Oct. 2, 2001, at Hospice House.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Hilton Chancellor officiating. Services are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Bobby Roach was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Wink. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. Mr. Roach came to Odessa in 1947. He married
Mary Louise Tolen in January 1949 in Lovington, N.M. He worked in the oilfield for Apache Service for 10 years before his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His wife and four brothers, Buster, Wink, Skeet and Don, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, Rory Roach and his wife Cindy of Odessa; a daughter, Jo Scott and her husband Steve of Odessa; a sister, Arlene Barker of Odessa; grandchildren, Jerrica Roach and Kyle Roach, both of Odessa; and a great-grandson, Seth Allen of Odessa.
