LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Alex E. Romero, 51, of Odessa, a car sales manager, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, in Tucson, Ariz.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral with the Rev. John Tickle officiating. Arrangements by Heather Mortuary.
He was born in Las Cruces, N.M., and was a resident of Odessa for 11 years.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Evangelina Romero of Odessa; sons, Alex Romero Jr. of California, James Andrew Romero and Richard Anthony Romero, both of Tucson; daughters, Kris Romero and Angela Romero, both of Tucson; stepsons, Javier Del Hierro and Paul Del Hierro, both of Odessa; parents, Bernie S. and Dora E. Romero of Tucson; sisters, Louise Cavatta of Santa Fe, N.M., and Tinamarie Hutchinson of Tucson; and brothers, Fernando Romero and David Romero, both of Tucson, and Raoul Romero of Austin.

Shirley Cowan
LAMPASAS COUNTY — Shirley Langford Cowan, 93, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Reeves County Hospital in Pecos.
Memorial graveside services will be at 6 p.m. today at the Smith cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
She was born in Lampasas County. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Dixie Cowan Burkholder of Pecos; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Ann Crichton
ODESSA — Ann Louise Crichton, 79, of Odessa, a retired draftsman for Conoco Oil Co., died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Omaha, Neb., and moved to Odessa in the late 1940s from Snyder.
SURVIVORS: Several nieces and nephews.

Faye Vaught
MONAHANS — Faye B. Vaught, 96, of Monahans, a retired retail sales manager, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Harkey Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Box officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.
She was born in Dial and moved to Monahans in 1949. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Son, Charley T. Vaught of Odessa; daughters, Pat Finley of Monahans and June Driggers of Odessa; brother, Tom Bertram of Hobbs, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Winford Whalen
ODESSA — Winford Wilson Whalen, 84, of Odessa, a retired maintenance mechanic for Southwest Portland Cement Co., died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Cheryl Homsher officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Melvin. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Carey Whalen and Denn Whalen, both of Odessa; brothers, Gilford Denn Whalen of Homer, La., and W.T. Whalen of Baton Rouge, La.; and four granddaughters.

Melva Dosher
SEMINOLE — Melva Joyce Dosher, 62, of Seminole, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Brownfield Regional Hospital in Brownfield.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Community Chapel with the Rev. Dan Dale officiating. Burial will follow at the Gaines County cemetery South. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.
She was born in Portales, N.M., and moved to Seminole 23 years ago from Hale Center. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Alfred Dosher of Seminole; sons, Terry Dosher of Roswell, N.M., Gary Dosher of Clovis, N.M., Cary Dosher of Muleshoe, Bobby Dosher and Michael Dosher, both of Seminole, and Alfred Dosher Jr. of Hobbs, N.M.; daughter, Melissa Wimer of Seminole; brothers, W.H. Burns of Phoenix, Alvin Burns of Sparks, Nev., Homer Burns of Clovis and Felies Burns of Liberal, Kan.; sisters, Betty Lou Bryant of Lovington, N.M., Jeannie Belcher and Delores Esquisbel, both of Clovis, Julia Ann Steele of Amarillo, Barbara Faye Harpold of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Gatha Sandell of Garden City, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ignacio Franco
FORT STOCKTON — Ignacio V. Franco, 78, of Pasadena, retired owner of Franco’s Body Shop in Pasadena, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Bayshore Medical Center Hospital in Pasadena.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Vasquez officiating. Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be at the Fort Stockton Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Fort Stockton.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Zaide Josey of Deer Park; a sister; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Nicolas Lopez
FORT STOCKTON — Nicolas F. Lopez, 80, of Fort Stockton, a retired heavy equipment operator for Pecos County, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, in Fort Stockton.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be at Fort Stockton Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
He was born in Terlingua and was a resident of Pecos County since 1944. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Juliana Lopez of Fort Stockton; sons, Ernest Lopez and Ray Lopez, both of Fort Stockton, and Dario Lopez of Odessa; daughters, Paula Dominguez and Estefiana L. Martinez, both of Fort Stockton, and Delma Brennan of Plano; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Frances McMullen
MONAHANS — Frances Louise McMullen, 81, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at her residence.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Monahans Memorial cemetery with the Rev. Stephen Swisher officiating. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.
She was born in Springfield, Ohio, and moved to Monahans in 1940. She was Episcopalian.
SURVIVORS: Son, Clint McMullen of Monahans; daughters, Laquita Loveless of Odessa, Kathleen Krone of Loraine and Paula McNeme of Beeville; brother, Harold Asper of Phoenix; sister, Ida May Carr of Arcadia, Fla.; and a grandchild.

Tomas Montanez
FORT STOCKTON — Tomas G. Montanez, 94, of Fort Stockton, a retired employee of Santa Fe Railroad Co., died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Pecos County Memorial Hospital in Fort Stockton.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Ruben Reyes officiating. Burial will be at Fort Stockton Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Shafter.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Roman Montanez of San Angelo and Edwardo Bustamante of Seminole; daughters, Virginia Gonzales of Fort Stockton and Eva Flores of San Angelo; 20 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Juan Olivas Jr.
ODESSA — Juan Olivas Jr., 84, of Odessa, a retired ranch hand, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, in Odessa.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Ojinaga, Mexico. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Maria T. Olivas of Odessa; daughters, Luz Sanchez, Angela Rodriguez, Maria Gracia Carrasco and Rosa Lujan, all of Odessa; sons, Luis Olivas, Pedro Olivas and Trine Olivas, all of Midland, Gerardo Olivas, Juan Jose Olivas, Rey Olivas and Jesus Olivas, all of Odessa, and Geronimo Olivas of Andrews; brothers, Felipe Olivas and Serapio Olivas, both of Ojinaga; 46 grandchildren; and 59 great-grandchildren.
