Jennie Boling

Jennie Bess Boling, 81, ended her long battle with Parkinson’s (Shy Drager) Syndrome on Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at Hospice House of Odessa.
Jennie was born Oct. 16, 1919, in Cleburne to Myrtle and Ed Lanham. She and Raymon L. Boling married
Dec. 25, 1937, in Granbury and have celebrated over 63 years of marriage. They moved to Odessa in April 1952 with their three daughters.
Jennie loved her role as wife and homemaker. Being at home cooking, sewing and baking birthday cakes for family members brought her much pleasure. With the help of the family, her granddaughter, Karen, compiled a cookbook containing loving memories and favorite recipes to honor “Grandmother” in 1997. Jennie also found great joy in serving others and meeting their needs. For 25 years, she taught 5-year-olds in Sunday school at First Baptist Church where she and Raymon have been members for 49 years. At one time, Jennie was active in the Ladies Auxiliary at Medical Center Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Linda Sue; her only sister, Ila Mae Kidd; and a nephew, Dick Kidd.
She is survived by her loving husband, Raymon; her daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Jerry Poteet of Grand Prairie, Madalyn and James Baker of Menlo Park, Calif., and Louise and Gary Watson of Odessa; grandchildren and their spouses, Karen and Danny Kennemur of Grand Prairie, Jenni and Steve Summers of Grand Prairie, Randy and Peggy Poteet of Irving, Dal and Linda Watson of Midland, Nolan and Connie Watson of Lubbock, Zane Watson of Lubbock, Russell Baker of Kansas City, Mo., and Lane Baker of Los Angeles; and great-grandchildren, Jerrod Kennemur, Joshua Kennemur, Jennifer Kennemur, Talitha Summers, Shelby Summers, Carly Poteet, Melanie Watson, Will Watson, Luke Watson, McKaleigh Watson and Landry Watson.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 25, 2001, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Her six grandsons will affectionately serve as pallbearers.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice House, 903 N. Sam Houston Ave., 79761, or First Baptist Church library fund.

Ruth Barbee Eddleman
ODESSA — In loving memory: Ruth Barbee Eddleman, 90, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born July 19, 1911, in Paris, Texas. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.
Mrs. Eddleman was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Grimes Eddleman.
Ruth is survived by a brother, William Granville Barbee of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Joan Clark of Odessa; three grandchildren, Sid Clark of Odessa, Cindy Clark of Louisville, Colo., and Sandy Clark of Los Angeles; and five great-grandchildren, Megan, Taylor, Chelsea, Max and Grace.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at Grove Hill cemetery in Dallas.

Milton Duane Hubbard
ODESSA — Milton Duane Hubbard, age 50, of Odessa died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, in Midland. He was born Jan. 2, 1951, in Odessa to Earl and Inez Hubbard.
The family will be receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Pastor Jack Oden officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hubbard attended Odessa High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War. After the war, he worked route sales for Pinkies for many years, Mothers Cookies, Eighth Street Army Store and Mudcat Oil Exploration. He married
Marion Hatmaker on May 29, 1982. He was devoted to his entire family. He was a loving husband and father as well as dedicated brother and uncle.
His parents and two brothers, Robert and Jackie Hubbard, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Hubbard of Odessa; son, Scott Hubbard; brothers, Maurice Hubbard, Larry Hubbard, Freddie Hubbard and Leslie Hubbard, all of Odessa; a sister, Earlene Barnes of Odessa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elouise Evelyn Owens
ODESSA — Elouise Evelyn Owens, 85, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born June 5, 1916, in Francis, Okla. She married
Clarence “Leo” Owens July 3, 1938, in Ada, Okla. He preceded her in death Jan. 5, 1989.
Mrs. Owens graduated from Southwestern University of Oklahoma. She moved to Odessa in 1945. She was a retired schoolteacher and piano teacher. She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Ridgeway of Gardendale, and a granddaughter, Christina Ridgeway.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 25, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rex Clayton officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Melvin ‘Mel’ Douglass Kindel
ODESSA — Melvin “Mel” Douglass Kindel, 61, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Jan. 6, 1940, in Lamesa. He married
Marilyn Wall on June 22, 1959, in Odessa. One of his greatest joys was introducing people to his bride. He always told them “she is my life, my wife.”
Mel worked for the Odessa Fire Department from 1960 to 1981 and United Industries from 1970 to 2001. He was a Baptist.
Mel never met a stranger that he didn’t consider a friend. Even with his illness, he put up his American flag before going to the hospital to show his love for our country. Known as Pepaw to his grandchildren, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobbie and Cecil Kindel, and a brother, Kenneth Kindel.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Kindel of Odessa; three daughters, Melanie Dianne Bedrick and husband Phillip of Odessa, Melissa Faye Kindel of Midland and Marnie Denise Davis and husband Larry of Odessa; two sisters, Wanda Jean White and husband Donald of Big Lake and Linda Dian King of Odessa; mother-in-law, Eunice (Boots) Holt of Odessa; brother-in-law, Tom Wall and wife Betty; sister-in-law, Vicky Woods and husband Rocky; and four grandchildren, Ben Bedrick, Stephanie Bedrick, Trent Davis and Troy Davis.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 25, 2001, at Sherwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Hiser and Bob Cheek officiating and music by Mark Palmer and Barry Sykes. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Dub Kennedy, Richard Trout, Jim Fairchild, Gary Parsley, Chris Jones, Mike Bridges, James Brunson, Dickey Corbell, Freddy Gardner and Mitch Hunnicut.

Gabriel Navarro
ODESSA — Gabriel Navarro, 13, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Pablo Tiong officiating. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel with Father Tiong presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.
Gabriel was born Dec. 22, 1987, in Odessa and was a lifelong resident. He loved to take care of his pets, fishing, computers and music.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Prospero Navarro.
He is survived by his father, David Navarro of Odessa; mother, Norma Morgan Navarro of Midland; stepmother, Lillian Marie Navarro of Odessa; stepbrother, Jason Edward Hernandez of Plano; sister, Victoria Morgan of Midland; grandmother, Maria Elena Navarro of Austin; grandfather, George Morgan of Midland; grandmother, Lucilla Morgan of Midland; uncles, Gilbert Navarro of Phoenix and Adrian Navarro of Los Angeles; and aunt, Minda Navarro of Austin.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Navarro, Vince Navarro, Jason Hernandez, Steven Cisneros, Peter Carrillo and Gilbert Navarro.

James ‘Jimmy’ Thomas
CONROE — James “Jimmy” Thomas, 48, born in Odessa, Texas, died suddenly Sept. 22, 2001.
He is survived by his parents, Jim and Pat Thomas of The Woodlands; wife, Brenda Thomas; son, James Michael Thomas; daughter, Brandy Hinton and husband Jeffrey; grandmother, Alice Phillips; stepdaughter, Emily Russell McBee and husband Daniel; sister, Taune Johnston and husband Way; niece, Kelli West; and nephews, Robin and Ryan Wood.

Beverly Bates
WHITESBORO — Beverly Bates, 57, of Sadler died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at her residence. She was born July 3, 1944, in Whitesboro and had lived in Monahans before moving to Sadler.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Huff Funeral Home.
Survivors are her husband, Jerry Bates of Sadler; sons and daughters-in-law, Daren and Jerri Ann McGowan of Monahans, Shannon and Rebecca McGowan of Arlington, Jerry and Suzanne Bates of Fort Worth and Michael and Shae Bates of Howe; daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Bill Perkins of Sadler; mother, Alice Eddings of Whitesboro; brother, Ronnie Stafford of Whitesboro; sisters, Debbie Polley of Sadler and Gail Dooley of Whitesboro; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
