ODESSA — Sybil Fain Vaughan, 90, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.
Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Odessa cemetery. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Comanche. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Joe E. Vaughan of Edmond, Okla., and Tommy Wayne Vaughan of Mead, Wash.; daughter, Peggy Page of Odessa; sisters, Estelle Hughes of Georgetown and Thelma Jean Bevers of Salado; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

ODESSA — Helen Anderson, 56, of Andrews died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, in Odessa.

Roland ‘Roy’ Burnett
GRANBURY — Roland “Roy” Burnett, 74, of Granbury died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at Lake Granbury Medical Center in Granbury.
No services are scheduled.
He was born Jan. 15, 1927, in Beaver, Ark. He was a retired pump mechanic for Oilfield Supply Co. in Odessa. He was a resident of Granbury for 22 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Dobbs and husband Clark of Panama City, Fla.; father, Steve Burnett of Odessa; sisters, Pauline Morrison of Odessa and Ethel Swann and husband Dick of Granbury; brother, Burt Burnett of Bentonville, Ark.; and grandchildren, Tiffany, Brad and David, all of Panama City.

Maxine Halbrook
ODESSA — Maxine Ellen Halbrook, 70, of Odessa passed away Thursday, July 5, 2001, at a local hospital.
“Maxie” Halbrook was born Aug. 20, 1930, in Wichita, Kan., to Everett I. and Martha M. Halbrook. Her parents preceded her in death.
Maxie moved to Odessa in 1959 from Albuquerque, N.M. She was never married
, but was engaged. Her fiance died of cancer before they could be married
.
Her 30-year association with the Basin and Suburban Groups brought her much joy and satisfaction.
She worked for several certified public accounting firms for many years. Most recently, she worked for the office of Cathy Michalka Figert, CPA, where she had a happy association with her fellow workers.
Maxie is survived by a sister, Lorene Leslie of Odessa; a niece, Martha Buckwalter and her husband Gary of Austin; a nephew, Kirk Leslie and his wife Lynda of Odessa; a great-nephew, Tony McDow and his wife Sushila of Austin; a great-niece, Leigh Ann Leslie of Odessa; a great-niece, Brenna Brock and her husband Matt Baab of Austin; and a great-nephew, Devin Brock of Savannah, Ga.
Public visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. today and 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Ben Davis McGee
HOUSTON — Ben Davis McGee, 89, of Onalaska died physically Wednesday, July 4, 2001, in Grapevine. He now lives in the presence of Jesus.
He was a deacon and church training director at Northside Baptist Church in Odessa. He worked as a pumper for Cities Service Oil Co. from 1947 to 1977. After retiring, he and his wife, Jeanette, moved to Pasadena where they were members of the Queens Road Baptist Church, where he served as a staff member.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette, and his daughter, Glenda Brown.
Survivors: Wife, Ella Mae of Onalaska; daughter, Catherine Walker of Grapevine; stepdaughter, Joann Brittain of Onalaska; three sisters, Trilby Johnston of Ohio, Paulene Thomas of Austin and Gloria Bryant of Florissant, Mo.; five grandchildren, James Davis Walker of Webster City, Laura Jeanette Webb of Euless, Gary Mack Brown of Houston, Ronnie Leroy Brown of Houston and Beverly Marie Congdon of Euless; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bobby Walker and the Rev. Gary Brown officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn cemetery. There will be visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to services.

Bill Roach
ODESSA — Bill Roach, 60, of Odessa passed away Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2001, at Latter Rain Worship Center with Pastor Craig DeArmond officiating. Burial is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Leaday cemetery in Leaday.
Family visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Memorial Chapel.
Bill was born June 24, 1941, in Snyder to Floyd and Theda Roach. He married
Kay Watson Oct. 19, 1986, in Andrews. They moved to Throckmorton in 1988 where he was a deputy sheriff until 1993. He was formerly deputy sheriff in Andrews County and also in Midland County. They moved to Odessa in 1995. He worked for Lowe’s Grocery for over three years until he became ill in January 1998.
Pallbearers will be Rick Roach, Jerry Roach, Mark Wilson, David Fanchers, Allen Whirley, and Ray Floyd.
His survivors include his wife, Kay Roach of Odessa; sons, Michael Barkemeyer of Coleman and Greg Barkemeyer and his wife Megan of San Diego, Calif.; daughter, Letitia Wells of Odessa; parents, Floyd Roach and wife Velma of Odessa; mother, Theda Davis of Grand Prairie; his mother-in-law, Emma Watson of Coleman; brothers, Rick Roach and wife Andrea of Midland and Jackie Roach of Grand Prairie; sisters, Martha Fanchers and husband David of Grand Prairie and Diane Wilson and husband Mark of Odessa; brother-in-law, C.R. Dalton and wife Joyce of Coleman; grandchildren, Ashlee Wells, Cassandra Barkemeyer, Alana Barkemeyer and Justin Barkemeyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Dr. Laurence C. Maud
TUCSON, Ariz. — The Rev. Dr. Laurence C. Maud, 63, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001.
Dr. Maud dedicated his life to pastoral care, serving both his church and his God. He was the priest-in-charge at St. Jude’s Anglican Church. He was a member of the Anglican Church in America, a diplomate in AAPC and a clinical member of the AAMFT. He directed Pastoral Counseling Centers in Philadelphia, P.A., Allentown, P.A., and Nacogdoches, Texas. His joys in life were his family, his community, his bicycle riding and his barbershop chorus.
He is survived by his wife, Annie; his daughter, Rebeccah Maud Crawford and her husband J. Chad Crawford; his son, John Anderson Maud and his fiancée Janel Santerre. His death is a great loss to everyone who was ever touched by his warm spirit and love of life.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2001, at St. Jude’s Anglican Church, 8245 E. Seneca, with the Rev. Dr. H. Reynolds Stone officiating. Burial will follow at TMP East Lawn.

Martha Cook
ODESSA — Martha Cook, 82, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
She is survived by one son, Richard Cook of Stephenville, Texas; and one daughter, Christie Cook Bruner of Fairfield, Calif. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Kimberly Dowell, Bradley Dowell and Ashley Dowell of Stephenville, and Ellen Bruner and Kelly Bruner of Fairfield.
She married
Fred Cook on June 12, 1950. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, and two brothers and one sister. Martha was born Dec. 22, 1917.
She graduated from Baylor University and began her career teaching at Odessa College. She continued her career teaching English at Permian High School for most of her career. She taught for 42 years and retired in 1991.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She took great pleasure in her friends and students and in her family and grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Braswell and Bill Heggemeier officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2001, in Detroit, Texas.
Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church at 415 N. Lee Ave in Odessa, Texas.

Woodrow W. Eggleston
ODESSA — Woodrow W. Eggleston, 87, passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.
He was born May 16, 1914, to William Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth Franklin in Denton, Texas.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Griffin Jones of Temple Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.
Mr. Eggleston married
Leona Marie Williams on March 23, 1935, in Lamesa, Texas, and moved to Odessa in 1939. He was a measurement specialist for Phillips Petroleum, retiring after 34 years. After retiring, he moved to Hemphill, Texas, returning to Odessa three years ago to live at Parks Methodist Retirement Village. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and carpentry work.
Leona Eggleston, his wife, sisters, Myrtle Pugh, and Georgia Rice; brothers, Bill, Ottie, Emmitt, and Earnest Eggleston, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include son, Ramon Eggleston of Hemphill; daughter, Patsy Fisher and husband Gene of Odessa; brother, Carl Eggleston of Odessa; sister, Anna Bell Smith of Seminole and Ione Bradford of Lamesa; grandchildren, Joe Fisher, Sheryl Baker and Christie Powell; great-grandchildren, Brent, Christopher, and Audrey Baker; and Dane and Victoria Powell.
