Ricardo Ramirez

ODESSA - Ricardo Ramirez, 87, of Odessa, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at his residence.

Rosary was said Monday night at Martinez Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born in Ojinaga, Mexico. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Maria Ramirez of Odessa; daughters, Silvia E. Ramirez and Ageda Carrasco, both of Odessa; and eight grandchildren.

John Weisz

ODESSA - John R. Weisz, 88, of Odessa, a retired office manager for Kewanee Oil Company, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Jack Watkins officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was born in Beaver Falls, Penn., and moved to Odessa in 1948. He was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Robert G. Weisz of Mount Vernon, Ill.; and six grandchildren.

Thomas Wellman

OZONA - Thomas Henry 'Hank' Wellman, 64, of Ozona, a plumber, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Preddy Funeral Home.

He was born in Iowa Park and had been a resident of Ozona for 30 years. He was a Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Jeanne Berry Wellman of Ozona; daughters, Debra Lindsey of Ozona and Lesley Gibson of Mountain Lake, Minn.; stepchildren, Charles Ward of Manning, S.C., and Dana Hughes of Cabot, Ark.; sisters, Jo Garrison of Fripp Island, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Harry Baughman

ODESSA - Harry Baughman Jr., 66, of Odessa died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle, Penn.

Services are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Earl Corbell

ODESSA - Earl W. Corbell, 92, of Gardendale, retired owner and operator of a gas station, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Emmitt Banard officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was born in Erath County and moved to Odessa from Snyder.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Leona Corbell of Gardendale; daughters, Sid Webb and June Burrows, both of Odessa; sons, Forest B. Corbell of Eastland, Max Corbell of Granbury and Dick Corbell of Odessa; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Cesar Fabela

ODESSA - Cesar Guadalupe Fabela, 16, an Odessa High School student, of Odessa died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. David Herrera officiating. Rosary was held Tuesday at Odessa Funeral Home/Angeles Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home/Angeles Memorial Chapel.

He was born in Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Parents, Guadalupe and Emma Fabela of Odessa; sister, Myra Raquel Fabela of Odessa; brother, Jesse Montoya of Odessa; grandparents, Juan O. Lopez of Odessa, and Jose Corona Fabela and Dolores Tellez Fabela, both of Alamillo, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Birdie McCulloch

ODESSA - Birdie Lee McCulloch, 77, of Odessa, former owner of a beverage store, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Allen Harris officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Alex, Okla., and moved to Odessa in 1955 from Oklahoma.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Carolyn Lanigan of Arlington and Zoe Nell Reynolds of Odessa; son, Willard Thomason of Pensacola, Fla.; brother, Oscar Burroughs of Phoenix; sister, Dorothy Bristow of Taft, Calif.; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Slavomir Machotka

ODESSA - Slavomir Machotka, 89, of Odessa, former owner of Machotka Auto Supply, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Dr. Ernest Easley and John Rasco officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was born in Rowena and moved to Odessa in 1932. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Imogene Machotka of Odessa; daughter, Carla Kay Massingill of Odessa; and one grandson.

Hector Sanchez

MARFA - Hector Manuel Sanchez, 46, of Marfa, a teacher, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, in Marfa.

Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Demetro Ponce officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be at Marfa cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.

He was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, and had been a resident of Marfa for 23 years. He was a veteran of the Air Force.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Ester Sanchez of Marfa; father, Andres Estrada of Chihuahua, Mexico; adopted parents, Maria and Cirildo Sanchez of Marfa; son, Hector Miguel of Marfa; daughters, Kristina Yvette Guevara and Rachel Lujan Whatley, both of Marfa; sisters, Estella Ramirez and Maria Gonzales Bautista, both of Chihuahua, Lourdes Gutierrez of Aldama, Chihuahua, and Guadalupe Salcido of El Paso; brothers, Francisco Estrada of Andrews, Humberto Estrada of Aldama, Chihuahua, and Edmundo Estrada of Andrews; and four grandchildren.

Stella Jordan

ODESSA - Stella Jordan, 90, of Odessa died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at Seabury Nursing Center.

Services are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Ernestina Hernandez

ODESSA - Ernestina Hernandez, 47, of Odessa, a food service employee at Cavazos Elementary, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

She was born in San Jose, Calif. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Julio Hernandez of Odessa; son, Ruben Hernandez of Odessa; daughters, Becky Paredes and Cecilia Hernandez, both of Odessa; mother, Hope Frausto of El Paso; brother, Franco Frausto of El Paso; sisters, Lucy and Alice Frausto, both of Copperas Cove, Connie Frausto of Seattle and Carmen Frausto of El Paso; and four grandchildren.

Ruby Carver

RUIDOSO, N.M. - Ruby Lee Carver, 88, of Ruidoso, a retired Odessa Police Department employee, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at her residence.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Ruidoso with the Rev. Don Madaris officiating. Arrangements by LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso.

She moved to Ruidoso in 1974. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Mary Harris of Odessa; one granddaughter.
