ODESSA — Amada Molinar, 58, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at Silverleaves Nursing Home in Garland.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Catedral-De-Alavanca with the Rev. Pedro Emeliano officiating. Burial will follow at the Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Jesus Molinar of Odessa, sons, Jessie Molinar, Carlos Molinar, and Dario Molinar, all of Odessa; daughters, Estella Martinez and Dora Almance, both of Odessa, and Sylvia Suchil of Lubbock; mother, Dionicia Martinez-Porras of Odessa; brothers, Abelino Porras, Ray Porras and Oscar Porras, all of Ojinaga, Mexico, David Porras of Chihuahua, Mexico, and Juan Porras of Midland; and sisters, Eva Porras of Monte Vista, Colo., Socorro Loya of Odessa and Francisca Porras of Ojinaga, Mexico.

Lloyd Chappell
PECOS — Lloyd Chappell, 69, of Pecos died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at his residence.
Servies are pending with Pecos Funeral Home.

Linda Young
ODESSA — Linda Sharon Young quietly passed from this life and went to be with the Lord on Sept. 8, 2001, after battling with ovarian cancer since the mid-1970s. She was born July 2, 1948, in Las Vegas, Nev., to Howard and Cathern Hodges.
Linda was a loving wife, daughter, and sister; a person who never met a stranger and never backed away from a problem. She would help anyone in need and would often say when sick in bed, “Don’t come through my door unless you have a smile on your face.” She loved to decorate the house.
Her father, Howard H. Hodges, and father-in-law, Lewis B. Young, preceded her in death.
Left behind to cherish her memories and warm, sweet smile are her loving husband of 31 years whom she married on Dec. 29, 1969, in Odessa, Perry Young; mother, Cathern Hodges; sister, Jean Bell; brother, Ricky H. Hodges and his wife, Janice; mother-in-law, Mildred Young; brother-in-law Jerry Young and his wife, Cindy, all of Odessa; sister-in-law, Betty Richards of Manford, Okla; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and two God-daughters.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James Qualls officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are Dewayne Greer, Bryan Richards, Randy Bell, David Bell and Benny Pendergrass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Home Hospice and the Hospice House.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Jarrett Baker Jr.
PINEVILLE, La. — Jarrett L. “J.L.” Baker Jr., 76, of Deville, La., a retired oilfield personnel manager, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La.
Services were Aug. 31 at Rush Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jiggs McCoy officiating. Burial was at Restland Memorial Gardens in Pollock, La. Arrangements by Rush Funeral Home.
He was born in Corsicana and had been a resident of Odessa. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Mary Jo Adams Baker of Libuse, La.; son, Leland Baker of Pineville; daughter, Barbara Pearson of Satsuma, Ala.; brother, Robert Baker of Lubbock; sisters, Elouise King of Princeton, Athenia Pierce of Breckenridge and Doris Graham of Eastland; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Lloyd Chappell
BARSTOW — Lloyd Chappell, 69, of Pecos, a retired equipment operator for Texas-New Mexico Power Co., died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Barstow cemetery with the Rev. J.R. Wooten officiating. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
He was born in Lindale and was a lifelong resident of Pecos. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was Presbyterian.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Lloyd Chappell Jr. of Pecos, Curtis Chappell, Craig Chappell and Larry Chappell, all of San Angelo; brothers, Edward Chappell of Arlington and Farris Chappell of Abilene; sister, Dee White of Colorado City; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Roberta Mahan
ANDREWS — Roberta Adams Mahan, 89, of Elgin, a retired dispatcher for D.A. & S. Well Service Co. in Andrews, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, in Austin.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Andrews West cemetery with Lawrence Matetzchk officiating. Arrangements by Elgin Funeral Home.
She was born in Shelby County and had been a resident of Odessa and Andrews. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Son, R.E. Mahan of Odessa; daughter, Wilda Peitchinsky of Elgin; sisters, Velma Hodges and Era Jones, both of Odessa, and Ara Knutson of San Francisco; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Johnnie Sikes
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Johnnie G. Sikes, 78, of Odessa died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M.
Services are pending with Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Ruby Holt
SNYDER — Ruby Fern Holt, 83, of Snyder, a homemaker, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Wolf City.
SURVIVORS: Sister, Belle Roberts Speed of Odessa; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Merced Talavera
FORT DAVIS — Merced Estrada Talavera, 92, of Fort Davis, a retired seamstress, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at her residence.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.
She was born in Fort Davis. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Aparicia “Pat” Prado of Fort Davis; brother, Adan Salcido of Fabens; sisters, Modesta Urquidez and Julia Marquez, both of Pecos, Maria Talavera and Eva Lyles, both of Monahans; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Ollie Draughan
ODESSA — Ollie Halley Draughan, 67, of Odessa died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at her residence.
Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Lola Smith
MIDLAND — Lola Smith, 54, of Odessa died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland.
Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

John Bacon Jr.
CORPUS CHRISTI - John E. Bacon Jr., 80, of Corpus Christi, a retired employee of Cages Hardware Store in Corpus Christi, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, in Corpus Christi.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Seaside Memorial Park with the Rev. Dan Morris officiating. Arrangements by Seaside Funeral Home.
He was born in Geneva, Ill.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Charles K. Bacon and Mike L. Bacon, both of Corpus Christi; daughter, Margaret Rogers of Odessa; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ollie Draughan
ODESSA - Ollie M. Draughan, 67, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at her residence.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel with George Brown officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in Honey Grove and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Sammie Draughan of Odessa; son, Roosevelt Wiley of Midland; stepdaughters, Phyllis Gilliam of Odessa, Janice Olivas of Freeport and Joyce Draughan of Lubbock; stepson, Rodney Draughan of Odessa; sisters, Lillian Brown and Mae Andrew Broy, both of Odessa; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Ramon Lopez
SEMINOLE - Ramon Lopez, 94, of Seminole, a retired maintenance worker for Gaines County, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at Memorial Hospital in Seminole.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Reynaldo Reyes officiating. Burial will follow at the Gaines County cemetery South. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.
He was born in Mexico and moved to Seminole in 1965 from Karnes City. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, O.V. Lopez of Del Rio, Ramon Lopez of Baytown, Joe Lopez of La Porte, Juan Lopez of Levelland, Julio Lopez and Sid Lopez, both of Seminole; daughters, Lupe Cantu and Linda Trevino, both of Hobbs, N.M., Lula Galvan of Denver City and Lonnie Cantu of Ackerly; sister, Josepha Sanchez of Olton; 36 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; and 33 great-great-grandchildren.
