Linda Young
ODESSA — Linda Sharon Young quietly passed from this life and went to be with the Lord on Sept. 8, 2001, after battling with ovarian cancer since the mid-1970s. She was born July 2, 1948, in Las Vegas, Nev., to Howard and Cathern Hodges.
Linda was a loving wife, daughter, and sister; a person who never met a stranger and never backed away from a problem. She would help anyone in need and would often say when sick in bed, “Don’t come through my door unless you have a smile on your face.” She loved to decorate the house.
Her father, Howard H. Hodges, and father-in-law, Lewis B. Young, preceded her in death.
Left behind to cherish her memories and warm, sweet smile are her loving husband of 31 years whom she married
on Dec. 29, 1969, in Odessa, Perry Young; mother, Cathern Hodges; sister, Jean Bell; brother, Ricky H. Hodges and his wife, Janice; mother-in-law, Mildred Young; brother-in-law Jerry Young and his wife, Cindy, all of Odessa; sister-in-law, Betty Richards of Manford, Okla; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and two God-daughters.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James Qualls officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are Dewayne Greer, Bryan Richards, Randy Bell, David Bell and Benny Pendergrass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Home Hospice and the Hospice House.

PINEVILLE, La. — Jarrett L. “J.L.” Baker Jr., 76, of Deville, La., a retired oilfield personnel manager, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La.

He was born in Corsicana and had been a resident of Odessa. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.

BARSTOW — Lloyd Chappell, 69, of Pecos, a retired equipment operator for Texas-New Mexico Power Co., died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at his residence.

He was born in Lindale and was a lifelong resident of Pecos. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was Presbyterian.
