Neva P. Sherrod
SULPHUR SPRINGS — Neva P. Sherrod, formerly of Sulphur Springs and Bridgeport, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2001, at 8:50 p.m. at her new home in Mill Creek, Wash., with her beloved family by her side hand in hand. Neva, along with her daughter Karla and son-in-law Tom, moved to Washington in 2000 to enjoy life with her sister and to enjoy the adventure of the beautiful Washington scenery and weather.
Neva was born Jan. 27, 1932, to Ira and Esther Pool in Richland. On Feb. 11, 1950, she married
the man of her dreams, Richard Karl Sherrod, who preceded her in death Dec. 14, 1997. Now these two will forever spend eternity together just as they were always meant to be.
Neva was a member of Davis Street Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs and a former member of the Newcomers Club in Sulphur Springs. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a past mother advisor of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, both in Huntington Beach, Calif. Neva was also a former Beta Sigma Phi member. While living in Bridgeport, she was on the Wise County Domestic Violence Task Force Board of Directors.
Her husband, Richard; an infant son, Richard Dale; her parents, Ira and Esther Pool; and her twin brother, Neal Pool, preceded her in death.
Neva is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Karla and Tom Kirkland of Mill Creek, Wash., formerly of Sulphur Springs and Bridgeport; two grandsons, Charles Herford of Midland and David Kirkland of Fort Worth; a granddaughter, Carissa Ward of Birthright; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Linda Ward of Birthright. Her loving sister and brother-in-law, Nalda and Don Hampton of Mill Creek, also survive her.
Other loving survivors include brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dale and Dian Sherrod of San Antonio, David and Linda Sherrod of Jacksboro, James Smith of Springtown and Johnnie June Yanez of Fort Worth. A host of loving nieces and nephews, as well as many wonderful friends, also survive her.
Karla and Tom ask that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Hospice of Snohomish County, 2731 Wetmore Ave., Fifth Floor, Everett, Wash., 98201, for the wonderful and loving care they gave to her mother.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 27, 2001, at West Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2001, at West Oaks Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs with inurnment following at Sulphur Springs City cemetery. William C. Stafford
ODESSA — William C. Stafford, 73, of Odessa passed away Thursday, July 26, 2001.
He was born May 7, 1928, to Max and Willi Stafford in Clarksville.
William was a resident of Odessa for 48 years. He married
Delia Ruth Harris March 17, 1961, in Kermit. He was a technician on the planes for the civil service. He worked for B&B Construction Co. for 22 years and later worked at the shoe shine stand in the mall. He was member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. R. Sutton and Rev. Charles Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
His parents and a sister preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Delia Ruth Anne of Odessa; sons, Johnny Horton of Austin and Jerry Horton of Odessa; daughters, Woodie Nell Nickerson of Odessa and Linda Dilbeck of Humble; four sisters, Verleen Manson, Hazel Parks of Midland, Gladys Rogers of Midland and Florida Mae Woods of Denver; brother, Sherman Stafford of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

ODESSA — Trina Evett Sutton, 31, of Odessa died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Revs. Roscoe Sutton and Andrew Nance officiating. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.
She was born April 20, 1970, in Stanton. She was a clerk at Best Buy. She was Missionary Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, John Arthur.

Robert H. ‘Bob’ Baker
MONAHANS — Robert H. “Bob” Baker, 71 years old, died Monday, July 16, 2001, in Monahans.
Bob was born April 26, 1930, in Vernon. He served in the Marine Corps and married
Norma Roberts on Jan. 31, 1951. The family lived in Andrews for 18 years where he worked for Exxon. They moved to Monahans in 1972. Bob retired from Exxon after 26 years in 1986.
Bob was a Christian and spent his life building things that last, whether crafts, buildings or friendships. Bob was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was an active member of the Monahans Golf Association.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Jenny Baker in 1956; and brother, Kenneth Baker in 1986.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Norma; brother, Ronnie Baker and wife Sandra of Lubbock; sister, Donna Greaves of Abilene; daughter, Debbie Bennett and husband David of Goldthwaite; son, Robert Baker and wife Gina of Monahans; daughter, Amy Rambo and husband Cary of Menard; grandchildren, Robbie Daniel of Austin, Lori Tupin and husband Trint and Jenny Bennett of Goldthwaite, Lecia and Aaron Baker of Monahans, Zach and Riley Rambo of Menard; and a great-grandchild, Cole Tupin of Goldthwaite.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Third and Dwight Church of Christ in Monahans. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Memorial cemetery in Big Spring.

Theresa Kay Mitchell Fitts
ODESSA — Theresa Kay Mitchell Fitts, 45, of Odessa passed away Monday, July 16, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Victory Temple Assembly of God, Farm-to-Market Road 1936 and Dunn Street, with Pastor Robert E. Lamb and Pastor David Henry officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.
She was born Oct. 25, 1955, in Greenville, Ala., and moved to Odessa in 1961 from Mobile, Ala. She attended Odessa High School. She was employed by Huntsman Corp. She was a member of Foursquare Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her husband, Loyd Oran Fitts Jr. of Odessa; daughters, Kischa Danielle Skaggs of Bedford and Tracy Gail Dial of Odessa; parents, Henry E. and Marie E. Mitchell of Odessa; brothers, Tony E. Mitchell, Terry E. Mitchell and Cary L. Mitchell, all of Odessa; sister, Becky Mitchell Poyner of Odessa; and two grandchildren, Tyler Ryan Skaggs and Kaylee Marie Skaggs, both of Bedford.

Elmer Ozell Franks Sr.
ODESSA — Elmer Ozell Franks Sr., 83, of Odessa died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, July 18, 2001, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Mueller, Johnny Woods, Rip Ryan, Claude Fenton, Jimmy Carter, Harold Coleman and Bob Bryant.
Mr. Franks was born in Ada, Okla., to Gordy and Mae Franks. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and was seaman 1st class when he was discharged. He retired in 1985 from Carters Furniture in Midland. He was a member of the Ector County Sheriff’s Posse, the Moose Lodge, American Legion, Permian Basin Oil Burners Antique Car Club and of Northside Baptist Church in Odessa.
Mr. Franks was preceded in death by his wife, Okla Belle Franks.
He is survived by his son, Elmer O. Franks Jr. of Fort Stockton; two daughters, Ruth Chastaine and husband Bubba of Arlington and Claudine Humphrey and husband Dennis of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a sister, Lucille Owens and husband Bill of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Ernest Franklin Fuller
ODESSA — Ernest Franklin Fuller, 87, of Odessa passed away Monday, July 16, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Oct. 28, 1913, in Casper, Wyo.
Mr. Fuller retired as manager of Phillips Pipeline West Texas Division in 1976 after 42 and a half years of service. He was a 50-year member of the H.A. McFarland Lodge 1338, 50-year Scottish Rite, El Maida Temple in El Paso. He was an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Odessa, member of the Odessa Country Club, past president of Philresters Club, past president of the Golf Association of Odessa and a member of the Phillips Bowling League and Phillips Men’s Club.
Mr. Fuller served three years in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married
Marian Wade Fuller in 1990.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Milo Fuller and Bessie Edna Gorrell Fuller; and his first wife, Garnet “Pat” Fuller in 1989.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Fuller of Odessa; sons, Jerry Wade of Odessa and Dale Wade of Brownwood; daughters, Barbara Douglas of Lawton, Okla., and Janette Cox of Odessa; sisters, Lavone Stone of Amarillo and Lanore Monroe of Odessa; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Kriner officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Harlon Hollis Teakell
ODESSA — Harlon Hollis Teakell, 70, of Odessa passed away Monday, July 16, 2001, in Crane. He was born March 12, 1931, in Montague County. He married
Mary Edith Bennett on May 23, 1965.
Mr. Teakell moved to Odessa in 1947 from Levelland. He retired from the Ector County Independent School District on Aug. 23, 1990, after 33 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Kingston Avenue Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Alice Teakell; sisters, Fay, Ruth and Ina; and brother, Floyd.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Teakell of Odessa; son, J.C. Trotter of Norman, Okla.; daughters, Diane Clark of Fort Worth, Jackie Tacker of Odessa and Clara Acrey of Arkansas; brothers, Roy O. Teakell of Andrews, James Ray Teakell of Caldwell and Billy Wayne Teakell of Alvin; sister, Wanda Zalesak of Bastrop; five grandchildren, Ricky, Peggy Sue, Margaret, Vickie and Jody; six great-grandchildren, Kylie, Melissa, Jason, Jessica, Marcus and Kristie; and a circle of many, many friends at church and work.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today, July 18, 2001, at Kingston Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. John Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
