ODESSA Mamie Taylor, 81, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2001, at the Martinez Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Public visitation at the funeral home chapel will be today from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
She was born in Waco and she was Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alonzo Taylor and her mother, May Frances Scott.
She is survived by sisters, Mary Ross of Odessa, Ollie Johnson of Fort Worth, Doris Taylor of Dallas and Irma Jean Taylor of Los Angles, Calif.

Marjorie Rogers Morris
ODESSA Marjorie Rogers Morris, 93, of Odessa passed away Sunday, June 17, 2001, at a local hospital. Mrs. Morris was born Aug. 23, 1907, in Pilot Point. She had been a longtime resident of Odessa. She was a founder of the Globe of the Great Southwest Theatre and also founded the Anne Hathaway (Cottage) Library, part of the Globe complex.
The Globe Theatre, in conjunction with the National Shakespeare Company of New York, bestowed upon her the title of Lady Morris on April 21, 1990, for all the service and devotion she had contributed to the Globe Theatre. The Odessa Cultural Council awarded her its Founders Award, and she was honored as the Lady of Odessa while she was teaching at Odessa College. She was a life member of the Globe Theatre Board of Governors, the Heritage of Odessa Foundation, the Fine Arts Society of Texas and the Poetry Society of Texas. She founded the local Chapter of the Poetry Society of Texas, which has grown to become the Permian Basin Chapter of the Poetry Society of Texas. She is a charter and life member of Delta Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and was the recipient of a state marker from the Outstanding Women of Texas Services.
Mrs. Morris had been a teacher for the Ector County Independent School District and taught at Odessa High School for several years before moving to Odessa College. As a former professor at Odessa College, she received the Minnie Stevens Piper Professor Award in 1953 and was the State Piper Professor winner in 1955. She was a member of the Bible class of First Baptist Church, taught Sunday school class for over 31 years and was a former member of the choir.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, June 19, 2001, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Globe of the Great Southwest Theatre.

ODESSA Ernesto Joe Salas, 40, of Odessa died Saturday, June 16, 2001, in Odessa.
He was born Oct. 17, 1960, in Odessa and was a lifelong resident. He was a welder for Permian Tank. He was Catholic.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2001, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.
He was preceded in death by his father, Evodio Salas.
He is survived by his mother, Maria Freeman of Odessa; sister, Gracie Dominguez and husband Mario of Odessa; brothers, Nathaniel Freeman and wife Geneva and Edward Gomez, both of Odessa; grandmother, Francisca Mireles of Odessa; nieces, Kristy Dominguez and Brinna Dominguez, both of Odessa; and nephew, Derek Dominguez of Odessa.

Annie Mack Farris
ODESSA Annie Mack Farris, 78 years of age, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born April 25, 1923, in Lee County to Aubrey and Cordilia Mack. She married
Theo Farris on Sept. 28, 1940, in Burnet. She was a Daughter of the Confederacy.
She was preceded in death by husband, Theo Farris; two sons, Nathan and David Farris; and parents, Aubrey and Cordilia Mack.
Surviving are her three sons, Maurice Farris of Odessa, Tim Farris and his wife Shirley of Tyler and Stephen Farris of Odessa; a daughter, Janice Goss of Tyler; two brothers, Randolph and Norman Mack of Houston; four sisters, Georgia Barry of Odessa, Annie Williams, Jeannie Talbert and Joyce Mack, all of Houston; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services have been set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at First United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Terry Pugh officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Myrtle Bell
ODESSA Myrtle Bell, 82, of Odessa passed away Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born April 22, 1919, in Whiteflat. She married
William David Bell on May 17, 1936, in Doole. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Mrs. Bell moved to Odessa in 1948. She was a homemaker and a member of Eisenhower Church of Christ. She was a loving mother and a devoted Christian.
She was preceded in death by her son, Billy Bell; sisters, Ruth Bell and Belle Day; and brothers, Roy Stegal and John Will Rollins.
She is survived by sons, Lee Roy Bell of Odessa and Don Bell of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughters, Lula Duncan and Jo Anne Pitman, both of Odessa; daughter-in-law, Jean Bell of Odessa; brothers, Othoe Stegal of Paris, Texas, and Henry Rollins of Richardson; sister, Mary Curby of Fairview, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 3, 2001, at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Burt Groves and David Boren officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Maxine Rives
McCAMEY Maxine Rives, a retired schoolteacher, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 30, 2001, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 3, 2001, at First United Methodist Church in McCamey with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven cemetery in McCamey with services under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Maxine was born Oct. 22, 1926, to the Rev. O.O. and Betty Moore in Chapman Ranch.
Mrs. Rives taught school for 38 years. She served on the school board of trustees in McCamey after retirement. She married
Billy Rives on Feb. 11, 1950, in San Angelo. After living in McCamey for 48 years, they moved to Odessa in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Martha Ann Moore; a brother, Randy Moore; and a son, Riley Rives.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Rives of Odessa; a son, Randy Rives and his wife Denise of Odessa; two granddaughters, Angel Thomas and husband John of Nashville, Tenn., and Jennifer Rives of El Paso; a grandson, Brandon Rives of Odessa; a brother, Dr. Barcus Moore of Corpus Christi; and a sister, Vera Vernon of Houston.
Rutha B. Yarborough
ODESSA Rutha Bell Yarborough, 66, of Odessa passed away Sunday, July 1, 2001.
She was born Feb. 15, 1935, in Gonzales to Milton and Lonia DuBose.
Rutha came to Odessa in 1952 from San Angelo. That same year, she married
A.J. Yarborough in Brady. She enjoyed cooking and attended Foursquare Gospel Church in Odessa.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today, July 3, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Robert Lamb of Foursquare Gospel Church.
Both parents and a sister, Lillie Mae Murray, preceded her in death.
Rutha is survived by her husband, A.J. Yarborough of Odessa; son, Wesley Jay Yarborough and wife Rosemarie of Odessa; daughters, Patty Kincheloe and husband Mike of Odessa, Kathy Chesnut and husband Roger of Wimberly and Joyce Ann Cooper and husband Larry of Jolton, Tenn.; brother, Milton DuBose of Houston; sisters, Mary Robinson and husband Bill of Buffalo, Geneva Joslin and husband Rex of Brady, Shirley Harmeier of Tomball and Helen Obonesky of Tomball; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

ODESSA Stella L. Henderson, 80, passed away at her residence Thursday, June 21, 2001. She was born May 10, 1921, in Morris, Okla., to Columbus and Lola Norwood. She was a pastry cook for the Ector County Independent School District. She married
Wayne Henderson on Oct. 5, 1940, in Morris.
She is survived by longtime friend and companion, Ben Swinney of Odessa; two sons, Ronnie Henderson of Odessa and Steve Henderson of Denton; two daughters, Judy Briley and husband, Dee, and Dianne Norwood, all of Odessa; three brothers, Sherman Norwood and Joe Norwood, both of Odessa, and Paul Norwood of Chico, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Pugh and Derrick Killim officiating.

Anita Lambert
MIDLAND Anita Lambert, 80, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at Deerings Nursing Home. She was born in Hope, Ark., on Nov. 11, 1920.
She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, loving sister and a steadfast friend. She came to Odessa in 1945 from Arkansas. She married
Eddie Lambert on May 20, 1942, in San Francisco. She was a member of AARP and Woodman of the World.
She is preceded in death by a son, Eddie Eugene Lambert.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie Lambert of Odessa; brother, Leo T. Bray of Whitney; sister, Grace Dutton of Ashdown, Ark.; and great-grandchild, Anita Faye Lambert of Midland.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fairview cemetery in Midland with Curtis Brewer officiating.

McCAMEY C. Tony Ruiz Jr., 62, of Odessa died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at his residence.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Barry McLean officiating. Graveside services will follow at Resthaven cemetery.
Tony was born Aug. 6, 1938, in Shafter. He lived in Odessa for 22 years. He was an Air Force veteran. He married
Jeraldine Marie Snyder on March 17, 1979, in Las Vegas. He retired from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the PAGA Golf Association and the Elks Club. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Esperanza Molina Ruiz, and a brother, David Ruiz.
He is survived by his wife, Jeraldine Jeri Ruiz of Odessa; his father, Celedonio Ruiz of McCamey; two sons, Rene Ruiz and his wife, Virginia, and Tony Ruiz and his wife, Kim, all of Odessa; two grandsons, Cameron Ruiz and Carson Ruiz, both of Odessa; brother, Pete Ruiz of Odessa; three sisters, Maggie Luna and Teresa McKee, both of McCamey, and Estella Ruiz of Odessa; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Joe Salgado, David Acosta, Albert Ochoa, Rene Saenz, Justin McKee and Jim Prementine.
