GILMER — Delwyn Russell, 74, of Mesa, Ariz., a business owner, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, in Mesa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Pete Dugger officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell cemetery in Upshur County. Arrangements by Croley Funeral Home.
He was born in Gilmer and was a resident of Arizona for 25 years.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Holly Garza of Mesquite and Rita Webb of Midland; brothers, Paul Russell of Marlin and Freddy Russell of Liberty; sister, Mary Harrington of Houston; and four grandchildren.

Alton Smith
TOW — Alton K. Smith, 84, of Tow, a retired rancher, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, in Austin.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Nixon officiating. Burial will be at the Tow cemetery. Arrangements by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home.
He was born in Mason County and had been a resident of Clayton, N.M., before moving to Tow in 1984. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Mary Viola Smith of Tow; sons, Randy Smith of Odessa and Darby Smith of Clayton; daughter, Becky Logsdon of Odessa; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

John Stevens
GRAHAM — John C. Stevens, 85, of Graham, a retired employee of Texaco Inc., died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, in Graham.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Revs. James C. Hill and Richard Segars officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove cemetery. Arrangements by Morrison Funeral Home.
He was born in Prentice, Ky., and had been a resident of Pecos before moving to Graham in 1978. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Marie Stevens of Graham; sons, John C. Stevens Jr. of Graham and James Rogers Stevens of Alvin; sisters, Emma Lee Barrett of Graham, Nell Dooley of Goliad and Jo-Ann Porter of Odessa; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Margaret Whitman
MONAHANS — Margaret Whitman, 70, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harkey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.
She was born in Henderson and was a resident of Monahans since 1947. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ.
SURVIVORS: Husband, M.K. Whitman of Monahans; sons, Curtis Edward Whitman and L.K. Whitman, both of Monahans, George Whitman of El Paso, Lary Whitman of Dallas, Kenneth Whitman of Fairfax, Va., and Milton Whitman of Washington, D.C.; daughters, Lovelle Weston, Ona Lewis and Doris Sowells, all of Dallas, June Cartwright of Fort Stockton and Mary Ann Whitman of Hollywood, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Anne Williams
ALPINE — Anne E. Williams, 95, of Alpine, a retired schoolteacher, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Elm Grove cemetery with the Rev. Phil McCraw officiating. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
She was born in Bell County and was a resident of Alpine since 1941. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Sisters, Marie Warwick of Devine and La Nelle Turner of Alpine.

Ramona Carrasco
CRANE — Ramona Torres Carrasco, 64, of Crane died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at her residence.
Services are pending with Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.

Al Hall
AUSTIN — Albert Louis Hall, 44, of Austin, a pilot, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, in Dallas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Riverbend Church Fellowship Hall. Arrangements by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.
He was born in Odessa.
SURVIVORS: Mother and stepfather, Gwen and Don Rippey of Austin; father and stepmother Charles and Nancy Hall of Marble Falls; brother, Gary Hall of Marble Falls; and sisters, Kim Hall of Berkeley Heights, N.J., and Kelley Harris of Cedar Park.

Angelita Hernandez
SEAGRAVES — Angelita Garcia Hernandez, 83, of Hobbs, N.M., died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Hobbs Health Care Center.
Mass wil be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Reynaldo Reyes officiating. Rosary was said at 6 p.m. MST on Sunday at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Seagraves cemetery. Arrangements by Griffin Funeral Home.
She was born in Mexico and moved to Hobbs, N.M., from Seagraves in 1990. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Esteban Hernandez Jr. of Lubbock, Felipe Hernandez of Union and Tomas Hernandez of Odessa; daughters, Estefana Aguilar and Maria Briones, both of Seagraves, Olivia Huron of Pleasanton, Carolyn Patterson of Arlington, Rosalinda Munoz of Hobbs, N.M., and Mariana Ontiveros of Brownfield; 30 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

MENARD — Ira Davis Lawrence, 74, of Carlsbad, an oil field pumper, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, in San Antonio.
Graveside services were at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Rest Haven cemetery with Steve Tompkins officiating. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Homes.
He was born in Hamilton.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Ira Lawrence Jr. of Sterling City and Troy Lawrence of San Antonio; stepson, Alan Phillips of Alba; one sister; four half sisters; two half brothers; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

ODESSA — Marjorie Hill Weaver, 85, of Odessa, a former teacher, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Sunday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 4 p.m. today at City of Sundown cemetery in Sundown. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Leeds, Kan. She was a Women’s Army Corp. veteran of World War II. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Son, Donald Weaver of Lubbock; daughters, Beverly Weaver and Mary Lou Watts, both of Odessa; sister, Orien Walker Tanner of Moline, Kan.; five grandchildren; one step grandchild; and one step great-grandchild.
