She was born in Missouri.

HOBBS - Lawrence C. “Duck” Duckworth, 82, of Hobbs, N.M., died Jan. 9, 2002, at Lake Granbury Medical Center in Granbury.

Maria Robles
ODESSA - Maria Robles, 72, of Odessa, a retired seamstress, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.

ODESSA - Armando Madero, 48, of Odessa, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002 at his residence.

Eliza Ann Alford
ODESSA - Eliza Ann Alford went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at the age of 90 years old. Ann passed away in Cibolo at the home of her daughter following a lengthy illness.
Eliza Ann Bell Mitchell Alford was born March 9, 1911, in Cleburne County, Heflin, Ala. She moved with her parents, William Ritter Bell and Nancy Lou Ella Hunnicutt Bell, to settle in Post Oak near Paris, Texas, as a small child. She married
Ernest Mitchell, father of her daughter, Billie Lou, in 1934. She married
William Clarence Alford on Aug. 3, 1944, and he preceded her in death in 1982.
Ann was a longtime member of Crescent Park Baptist Church, which she loved and was active in Sunday school, WMU and Vacation Bible School. She served as chairman of the Benevolence Committee for many years and was involved in many other church activities. Ann was currently a member of the Cibolo Valley Baptist Church. She volunteered for many charitable organizations such as the American Cancer Society and the March of Dimes. Ann was a charter member of the Auxiliary at Odessa Regional Hospital where she had served as president, vice president and chairman of the Gift Shop. She volunteered her time weekly in the auxiliary gift shop until she became ill several years ago and had completed 25 years of volunteer service. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Odessa also. Ann worked for many years as manager of the Sally Ann Dress Stores in Texas and Louisiana. She had lived in Beaumont, Kermit, Monahans and had been a resident of Odessa since 1959.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clarence Alford; her parents; and by four brothers, Howard Bell, Roy Bell, Jimmy Bell and Hugh Bell. She was also preceded in death by two half brothers, Charlie and Benjamin Bell.
She is survived by a daughter, Billie Lou Mitchell Tone and husband Gene of Cibolo, with whom she had made her home the past two years. Four grandchildren, Candy Ann Powell and husband Wid of Odessa, Melody Elaine Bamburg and husband Jerry of Corrigan, Chere Michelle Tone of Cedar Park and Timothy Andrew Tone of San Antonio, also survive her. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Christopher Powell and wife Krista of Weinert, Holly Powell Calvert and husband Raymond of Fort Worth, Jerrod Bamburg and Eliza Ann Bamburg of Corrigan, and a great-great-grandson, Dylan Scott Calvert of Fort Worth. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
“Bubber” as she was called by her grandchildren, who loved her dearly, had a quick smile, twinkling eyes and a gift of love for those around her. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Gene Tone, her son-in-law, pastor of Cibolo Valley Baptist Church, preached funeral services at Cibolo Valley Baptist Church in Cibolo on Monday, Jan. 7, 2002. Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. today, Jan. 8, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.

Al Hall
AUSTIN - Albert Louis Hall, age 44, of Austin died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, in Dallas. He was born May 12, 1957, in Odessa.
Al attended schools in Fort Davis and graduated from Permian High School in 1975. He then enrolled at the Texas State Technical Institute in Waco. He graduated with honors in the associate degree program training commercial pilots.
Al greatly enjoyed sports and was awarded honors in swimming, football and marksmanship. He loved flying and has been a pilot since 1977. From 1983 until 1996, he was a pilot for the State of Texas Aircraft Pooling Board including a year as then-Gov. George W. Bush’s personal pilot and was currently a pilot for Bombardier Aerospace.
Al was an adventurous and charming man who was loved and admired by his family and his numerous friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Gwen and Donald Rippey of Austin; his father and stepmother, Charles and Nancy Hall of Marble Falls; his brother, Gary Hall of Marble Falls; his sisters, Kim Hall of Berkeley Heights, N.J., and Kelley Harris of Cedar Park; and his fiance, Randi Taylor of Addison.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at Riverbend Church, Fellowship Hall, 4214 Capital of Texas Highway North, in Austin.

Teodosio Martinez
ODESSA - Teodosio Martinez, 79, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Jan. 20, 1922, in San Ignacio, Chihuahua, Mexico. He married
Trinidad Herrera on Feb. 3, 1946, in San Ignacio. Mr. Martinez moved to Odessa in 1986 from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. He was self-employed and retired in 1986. He was a member of Eisenhower Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Trinidad Martinez of Odessa; son, Victor R. Martinez of Odessa; three brothers, Reynaldo Martinez of La Puente, Calif., Rogelio and Raul Martinez of Mexico City; sister, Raquel Martinez of Mexico City; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Miguel Bustillos officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eisenhower Church of Christ.

Peggy Purser
PFLUGERVILLE - Memorial services celebrating the life of Peggy Purser were held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Mrs. Purser passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at the age of 63.
Peggy was born Feb. 1, 1938, in McCamey and had been a resident of the Odessa area before moving to the Austin area. Her new granddaughter and family were the center of her life. She was currently employed by Randalls. She had owned and operated Alma’s Pastry Shop for many years. She was a graduate of Odessa High School.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Walter Lewis New; her sister, Judy Vaught and husband Kenneth; and infant sons, Arnold and Jeffery.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold Eugene Purser of Austin; her daughter, Kimberly Rae Purser; her granddaughter, Elise McKenna Peeples-Purser, all of Hutto; her mother, Cora Leona New of Odessa; brother, Buddy New and wife Sandy of Austin; sister, Jimmie Miller and husband Everet of Corpus Christi; brother, Tommy New and wife Virginia of Ashville, N.C.; and sister, Sally Dennis and husband Mark of Odessa. She is also survived by eight nephews, six great-nephews, three nieces and two great-nieces.

Georgia Mae Redd
ODESSA - Georgia Mae Redd, 66, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born March 1, 1935, in Campwood to Calvin and Avie Allbright.
She was a lifelong resident of Odessa. She had been a waitress for most of her life and worked at Pojo’s Restaurant. She enjoyed gardening and reading her Bible.
Her husband Ramzie Redd, and son, Randy Lynn Redd, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Joseph Redd of Odessa; daughter, Jan Redd of Austin; grandchildren, D.J. Redd and Raney Redd; and a great-grandchild.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Sherwood Church of Christ with Mr. Lynn Money officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
