He was born in Clarksburg, W.Va. He was a resident of Odessa for 41 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

KERMIT - Josefina Vigil Navarrette, 81, of Kermit, a retired restaurant owner, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at her residence.
Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Waiwood officiating. Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Thomas Parish Hall. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home.
She was born in Mulato, Mexico. She was a lifelong resident of Kermit. She was Catholic.

“Slim” Wayne Lee Cawley
ODESSA - “Slim” Wayne Lee Cawley, age 73, of Odessa, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Feb. 13, 1928, in Grandview, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Rev. Randall Courtney officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Slim loved racing and was an avid dirt-track racer. He was a bush pilot in Montana and Canada. He was vice president of Southwest Engine Service and Supply for twenty plus years.
His wife, Ingrid Cawley, preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son, Grant Cawley of Odessa; brothers, Jim Cawley, Nate Cawley, and Terry Cawley all of Odessa; and three grandchildren, Brendan, Bryce and Austin.
