FORT DAVIS - Samuel Ray Trammell, 53, of Fort Davis, a retired state trooper and co-owner of the Blue Agate Rocks and Gifts of Fort Davis, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, in Alpine.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Church of the Mountains. Burial will follow at Hillcrest cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
He was born in El Campo.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Donna D. Trammell of Fort Davis; daughter, Leslie Trammell of Columbus; and brother, Tommy Trammell of Balmorhea.

Willie Vee Burrell
ODESSA - Willie Vee Burrell, 81, a homemaker, of Odessa, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001 at her residence.
She was born July 3, 1920 in Waxahachie, Texas. She was a Christian and was a member of Life Challenge.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001 at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with brother James Barnes and the Rev. John W. Williams Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 24, 2001 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Family will receive relatives and friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

She is survived by sons, Andrew Carter, Earnest Carter, both of Lubbock, Stanley Carter and L.A. Carter, both of Odessa, and Ronnie Carter of Austin; daughters, Willie Mae Carter of Monahans, Sammye Crosby and Linda Carter, both of Odessa; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Ted Burrell, daughter Carrie White, sister, Jessie Mae Dixon, and parents, Earl and Carrie Calton Givens.
Pallbearers will be Freelan Harris, John Crosby, Rick Calloway, Sammy Gant, Earl Templeton, Henry Salazar, and Chris Carter.
Laura A. Walker
FORT STOCKTON - Laura A. Walker of Fort Stockton passed away Dec. 22, 2001 at the age of 94.
She was a retired school teacher. She was born in Lott, Texas on July 8, 1907. She married
Dee Walker on Jan. 20, 1935 in Cameron, Texas.
Mrs. Walker is survived by two sons, Robert Dee Walker of Argyle, Texas and Joe Ben Walker of Fort Stockton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Walker attended Austin College majoring in English, the University of Texas, majoring in English with a minor in French and Sul Ross, majoring in elementary education.
She was active in Beta Iota, Gamma Gamma, Iota Sigma, numerous committees, Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and was historian of the Iota Sigma O.D.K.G.
Mrs. Walker taught school in Lockney High School from 1929 to 1933. She taught in the Fort Stockton school system from 1933 to 1972, then retired after 30 years of teaching.
She was a member of the PTA serving as president for three years, member of the Fort Stockton Literary Club, member of AARP, First Presbyterian, serving as elder, Sunday School Church pianist, Bible School Memorial committee, Five O’Clock Circle, and a member of the Garden Club.
Mrs. Walker had many hobbies - doing crafts, collecting dolls, playing the piano and banjo. She also loved to travel, visiting the Holy Land, Mexico City, Europe, Alaska and Hawaii. She was a member of four bridge clubs and one 42 club.
Services will be Monday, Dec. 24, 2001 at 10 p.m. at East Hill cemetery. There will be graveside services only. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
Robert “Skip” Smith
ODESSA - Robert “Skip” Smith, 54, a shop foreman, of Odessa, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001 at his residence.
He was born April 17, 1947 in El Paso.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001 at First Assembly of God, 1101 N. Lee, in Odessa with the Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home.
He was a Navy veteran.
He was a Christian.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Young Smith, and his parents, John V. Smith and Emily Burgess Smith.
He is survived by a son, Robert Allen Smith of Odessa; daughters, Lisa Smith and Heather Norman, both of Odessa; and eight grandchildren.
Art Burk
ODESSA - Art Burk, 72, of Odessa, passed away Friday, December 21, 2001 at his home in Odessa.
He was born September 15, 1929 in Enid, Oklahoma. He attended Enid schools and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in business marketing.
He served in Korea in the US Air Force as a first Lieutenant. He and Coleen Williams were married
in Oklahoma City in 1950. They moved to Odessa in 1954. He retired from Southland Corporation after a career in convenience store management. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Sue Burk, and two brothers, Chester and Wayne Burk.
Survivors include his wife, Coleen; sons, Jeff Burk, Andy Burk and wife Lee Ann
of Odessa; and five grandchildren, Nia Moore; Henry, William, Austin and Ellen Burk.
Services were at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2001 at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kevin Bushart. Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family has requested memorials be made to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
V. Lucille Holmans
KERMIT - V. Lucille Holmans died January 11, 2002, in the Reagan County Care Center in Big Lake, Texas. Services will be today, Jan. 14, 2002, at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Kermit, Texas. Burial will follow in the Kermit cemetery.
Lucille was born Sept. 3, 1907, in Mullin, Texas. She married
Hector G. Holmans on Jan. 1, 1927, in Coleman County, Texas. They lived in Kermit for more than 50 years. Lucille loved playing dominoes and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hector and a grandson, Dean Anderson.
Lucille is survived by her sons, Harold G. Holmans and wife Bonnie of Jal, N.M., and George Holmans and wife Bonnie Mae of New Braunfels, Texas; daughters, Wanell Stroud and husband Jimmie of Odessa and Anita Gregg and husband Gerry of Big Lake; sister, Ella Brown of Coleman; brothers, J.D. Pitts of Odem, Texas, and George Robert Pitts of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Family requests memorials be made to The Reagan County Care Friends at Reagan County Care Center in Big Lake.
Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel, Kermit, Tx.
Kathleen Gibbs Leach
ODESSA - Kathleen Gibbs Leach was born in Peru, Kansas, on May 21, 1915. She attended Caney High School and received a life certificate to teach from Kansas State Teachers College.
She married
Woodrow Leach in 1936. They moved to Odessa in 1940. She belonged to the First Methodist Church where she joined the women’s society of Christian services in 1941 and served as president in 1964. Kathleen belonged to the Thursday Study Club and was president in 1951. She was a charter member of the women’s auxiliary to Medical Center Hospital and a charter member of Volunteers for Vision. Mrs. Leach was a member of the Auxiliary to the Texas Optometric Association and served their board. She received the Diana Award in 1976 for community service.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Leach and a grandson.
She is survived by her husband on 65 years, Woodrow Leach of Odessa; two daughters, Sharon O’Dell of Andrews and Nancy Bayless of Phoenix; one sister, Margaret Dussair of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at First Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Monday with Steve Trout and Bill Heggemeier officiating.
The family suggests memorials be made to First Methodist Church in Odessa.

Elinor Jacobs
KERMIT - Elinor Jacobs, 94, of Midland died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 24, 1907, in Coffee County, Ala. She married
Harty Jacobs on Dec. 7, 1931, in Coffee County. He preceded her in death in 1989. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. She was a previous resident of Kermit for 44 years. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and a homemaker.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Brother Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will be at the Kermit cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her beloved great-grandsons.
She is survived by her daughters, Mamie and husband Lewis Bewley of Odessa and Lou Ray Harp of Midland; sister, Ann Williams of Seguin; grandchildren, Steve Mauldin of Miami, Fla., Les Mauldin of Three Rivers, Texas, Sabrina and husband Dale Smith of Midland and Tony and wife Dawn Harp of Tampa, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Audrey and Jodie Duff, Michael, Chris, Jeff and Stephanie Mauldin, Zane and Zack Harp, April and Ashly Smith and Melissa and Melannie Mauldin.

Theresa Miller
ODESSA - Theresa Miller, age 65, of Midland died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center. She was born Feb. 28, 1936, in Orange to Henry and Bessie Myers.
Theresa moved to Odessa in the late 1940s and finished school at Odessa High School. She met her husband Gene in high school and they were married
June 6, 1953. Theresa was a Christian and she and Gene joined Immanuel Baptist Church on their wedding anniversary, June 6, 1966. They were owners with their son David of Miller Gold Printing in Odessa. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything. Her family and many friends will miss her.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Miller of Midland; children, David Miller and wife Arlene of Gardendale, their daughter, Holly Miller, Lynn Brooker and husband Glenn of Midland, their children, Justin, B.J., Jaymi, Nathan and his wife Sarah and Emma, Pastor Mike Miller and wife Terri of Easton, Md., and their children Bryan, Bailey and Michael and great-grandchildren Chase, Cameron, Kaleb, John, Jacob, Kaitlyn and Justin; also two sisters, Beth Roman and husband Don of Sand Springs and Merlene Beecham and husband Jim of Houston.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Mark Riley officiating.
