Ruby E. Carter
MIDLAND - Ruby E. Carter, age 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Trinity Haven Nursing Center in Midland.
Mrs. Carter was born April 10, 1910, in Brown County to Will and Myrtle Henderson. She spent most of her life in the Brownwood area. She attended Mac’s Business School and worked for Kimbles Canning Co. in Brownwood. She married
Charles R. Duke on Aug. 15, 1931. He preceded her in death in 1956. She later married
George E. Carter on April 17, 1964. He preceded her in death in 1984.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Velma, Maggie Mae, Marie and Bertha; three brothers, Roy, Donald and Joe; and a stepdaughter, Bonna Nelson.
Mrs. Carter relocated to the Odessa area in 1991 to be near her son, Charles J. Duke of Midland. She was a member of Parkview Church of Christ in Odessa. She loved her family and they all knew it, as she showed it every day. Family meant everything to her.
In addition to her son, she is survived by a stepdaughter and her husband, Sandra and Jack Smith of Brownwood; two brothers, C.L. Henderson of Graham and J.T. Henderson of Florence, Ore.; a granddaughter; nine step grandchildren; 20 step great-grandchildren; and 17 nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Ellis Funeral Home in Midland with the Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, in Zephyr with the Rev. Paul McClung officiating.

Clara Irene Dennis
ODESSA - Clara Irene Dennis, 92, of River Oaks passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Manor Care in Fort Worth. She was born May 5, 1909, to William and Leona Hallmark.
Her services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Roy Smalling of Sixth and Jackson Church of Christ officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She married
Claude Dennis on Oct. 6, 1926, in Moran. They came to Odessa in 1935. She was a longtime resident of Odessa and a member of the Church of Christ.
Her husband, eight sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Demetra Larremore of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Melanie Keesee of Midland, Missy Nelson of Cleburne and Jef Larremore of Arlington; and great-grandchildren, Kirstin and Brian Keesee, Brady Nelson and Madison and Holden Moreland.
Services were under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Rosa E. King
ODESSA - Rosa E. King, 95, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Memorial Rehab Hospital in Midland. She was born March 12, 1906, to George and Lorena Elmore in Indian Territory, Okla.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Rosa King grew up in Oklahoma. She worked at Douglas Aircraft Factory during World War II. She married
Roger King in 1925 in Ardmore, Okla., and later moved to Odessa in 1972 from Oklahoma City. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking and was a member of University Park Baptist Church.
Her husband, Roger King; parents, George and Lorena Brown; son, Walter King; daughter, June Elder Lee; eight brothers and sisters; and two grandsons preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Madeleine Marshall of Odessa; grandchildren, Leslie Elder of Kentucky, Ronald Scott Elder, Karen King, Delafern Basey and Richard Elder, all of Oklahoma City, Dennis King of Del City, Okla., Steven J. Marshall and Monte Wade Marshall, both of Odessa; sisters, Christine Rutledge and Faye Grounds, both of Ardmore, Okla.; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Patti Darlene Coleman Pearson
ODESSA - Patti Darlene Coleman Pearson of Odessa was called home Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Sunset Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Jess Little officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
She was born March 15, 1953, in Lubbock. She graduated from Levelland High School in 1971. Patti married
Damon Pearson on Feb. 13, 1986.
She is survived by her husband, Damon; three sons, Monty Pearson and wife Stacy of Albuquerque, N.M., Chad Harmonson and wife Brandy of Odessa and Glen Pearson of Michigan; a daughter, Jayme Soules and husband Mark of Odessa; five grandchildren, Seth Pearson, Kennedy and Hope Harmonson, Michael and Landry Soules; parents, Jack and Joyce Sikes of Levelland; two brothers, Jerry and Kerry Coleman of Levelland; and a sister, Kathy Robinson of Giddings.
Patti was an active volunteer at the West Texas Cancer Center. She was purchasing agent and office manager for Champion Technologies Inc. She was a fun-loving, caring, outgoing burst of sunshine and will be missed greatly by a host of family and friends. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Sunset Heights Baptist Church.
The casket bearers will be “Chipper” Jerry Coleman, Kelly Robinson, Jearold Robinson, Richard Owens, Terry McCrory and Butch Munguia. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Champion Technologies Inc. and honored friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Jason Adams
ARLINGTON - Jason Adams, 30, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in Arlington.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Arlington Funeral Home Chapel in Arlington, and at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at First Baptist Church in McCamey.
Jason was born Dec. 31, 1970, in McCamey. He was vice president of production at Main Street Theater in Mansfield where he acted, choreographed and directed.

Evolene ‘Evie’ Fuller
ODESSA - Evolene S. Fuller, 78, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at her residence. She was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Mills, N.M., and was a Catholic.
Evie lived in Hawaii, California and Nevada and moved to Odessa 18 years ago. During World War II, she was a welder for an aircraft manufacturer and worked in Pearl Harbor for the Navy. Evie worked as jewelry store manager in Corona, Calif. In later years, Evie was a foster parent to many children with disabilities until adoptive parents were found. She will be remembered with love for her independence, strong determination and inner strength.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Fuller, and her daughter, Romayne.
She is survived by a son, Edward Fuller; brother, Walter Schneider and wife Elaine of Denver City; sisters, Betty Williams of Howe and Aleta Elliott of Wichita, Kan.; along with many nieces and nephews and Ralph Dean, a wonderful friend and companion for many years.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Corona cemetery in Corona, Calif.

Clara E. McLain
ODESSA - Clara E. McLain, 90, formerly of Odessa, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in Wichita, Kan.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and services at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
She was born Sept. 24, 1911, in Hannibal, Mo. She married
Emmett E. McLain June 8, 1931, in Dallas. Mrs. McLain had a long career in retailing women’s wear, working in Dallas and Fort Worth before coming to Odessa as manager of the downtown JoAnn Shop. She retired in 1987. She was a member of St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church and was active in Altrusa. She was known by her many friends as “Mrs. Mac.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett E. McLain; parents, George and Nellie White; and sister, Dorothy Harvey.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Evelyn Corliss of Wichita, Kan.; and five nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church.
Dorothy Pryor Moore
ARLINGTON - Dorothy Pryor Moore went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 1, 2001.
She was born Nov. 16, 1935, in Seminole, Okla. Dorothy resided in Odessa for many years where she graduated from Odessa High School and Odessa College prior to attending the University of Texas at El Paso. In her youth, she was well known for her vocal talent and frequently sang at Temple Baptist Church where she attended. Later in life, she developed her artistic abilities and thoroughly enjoyed painting. Dorothy was loved and admired for her strength and perseverance in life. She moved to Arlington to be near her children.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Woodward Moore.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Suzanne Blackmon of Fort Worth, and son, J. Michael Moore of Arlington. She cherished her relationships with her grandchildren, Courtney Blackmon of Fort Worth and Jake and Erin Moore of Arlington. Dorothy had three sisters, Arada Jones and husband Charles of Odessa, Mary Ann Pike and Glynda Pryor, both of Dallas; and a brother, A. Joe Pryor and wife Nelda of Bakersfield, Calif. She was Aunt Dot to eight nieces and nephews and 13 great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2210 S. Collins, in Arlington.

Florence Faye Reynolds
ODESSA - Our Holy Father took into his heavenly family Florence Swank Reynolds Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001. She was 95 years old. She was born July 22, 1906, in Guymon, Okla. She married
H.F. Reynolds in 1921, and they celebrated a long and happy life together.
Florence was an original founding member and a lifelong active member of Temple Baptist Church. She was a continuously active member of Temple Baptist Church since they began in a small, one-room building until the large and vibrant church it had become.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H.F. Reynolds; sons, Del Vernon Reynolds, Joy Duane Reynolds, Don Reynolds and Lee Monte Reynolds; brothers, Harvey Swank, Elmer Swank and Frank Swank; and sister, Lillian Caudell.
She is survived by grandchildren, Bobbie Pitzinger of Rowlett, Marie Milam, Diana Smith and Zella Lippe, all of Odessa, Whitney Gibbs of Dallas, Candace Nelson and Amy Miller, both of Midland, Lori Reynolds and Howard Reynolds, both of Marion, Ind.; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today, Dec. 7, 2001, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Florence was always dedicated to her love and faith in God, her family and life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her and all the people in whose life she had made a difference.
