Ruby Whaley

APACHE, Okla. - Ruby Marr Whaley, 91, a retired bookkeeper, of Apache died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, in Cyril.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Christian Church with the Rev. Bud Jones officiating. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Crews Funeral Home.

She was born in Oklahoma and was a 41-year resident of Odessa before moving back to Apache.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Nancy Frensley of Richmond, Calif.; brother, Wayne Marr of Apache, Okla.; and one grandson.

Ralph Townes

SEMINOLE - Ralph Townes, 83, of Denver City died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at Lakeside Home in Lubbock after a lengthy illness.

Services are pending with Boyer Funeral Home.

Alta Berry

ODESSA - Alta Grace Berry, 63, of Odessa, a cook in a nursing home, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Trent and moved to Odessa in 1967 from Andrews. She was a Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Alvah Berry of Odessa; sons, James Westbrook of Tyler, Billy Westbrook of Odessa; daughters, Pam Stoddard of Irving, Karen Nations of Rowlett, Janet Kennedy of Garland; brothers, John G. Woodard of Robert Lee, Robert Woodard of Grovetown, Ga.; sisters, Margaret Langford of Kerrville, Joett Ellis of Spring, Demarcie Craven of Spring Valley, Calif.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Karen Coker

CHOCTAW, Okla. - Karen Smith Coker, 52, of Choctaw, a cattle broker, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Bill Eisenhower Funeral Home Northeast Chapel. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at East Hill cemetery in Fort Stockton. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

She was born in Mexia and had lived in Choctaw since 1976. She was an Episcopalian.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Bob Coker of Choctaw, Okla.; mother, Lorraine Smith of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas; sons, Shawn Blackston Smith of Austin, Jason Brooks Smith of Dallas; stepson, Damon Neil Coker of Choctaw, Okla.; daughter, Kenye Smith Weber of Crofton, Md.; stepdaughter, Peni Ann Coker Cook of Jones, Okla.; sister, Susan Patterson of New Braunfels; and five grandchildren.

Kathryn Gibson

ODESSA - Kathryn Gibson, 72, a retired librarian, of Odessa died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jimmy Wilson officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

She was born in Ranger and had been a resident of Odessa for 43 years.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Earskin R. Gibson of Odessa; and sister, Mildred Cox of Cache, Okla.

Polly Hickman

ODESSA - Polly Ella Hickman, 62, a hairdresser, of Odessa, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in California. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

She was born in Davidson, Okla.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Charles Mack Hickman Sr. of Odessa; son, Charles M. Hickman Jr. of Odessa; daughter, Donna Warmack of LaHabra, Calif.; brothers, Billy Jo Tatom of Louisberg, Mo., Raymond Gene Tatom of Iowa Park, Texas, Bobby Tatom of Iowa Park, Texas, George Tatom of Lake Dallas, Charles Tatom of Arlington; sisters, Geraldine White of Amarillo; Cynthia White of Garland; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Eulogia Nabarrette

ODESSA - Eulogia Ramos Nabarrette, 77, of Odessa, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Rosary was said Jan. 12, 1998, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Luis Zepeda officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemtery. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Felipe Nabarrette, Manuel Nabarrette, Ray Nabarrette, Jr., and David Nabarrette, all of Odessa; daughters, Ramona Rodriquez, Mary Ann Chacon, Lupe Castillo and Rosie Ruiz, all of Odessa; brother, Benito Ramos of Odessa; sister, Felisa Fino of Odessa; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mary Nichols

MIDLAND - Mary A. Nichols, 41, a surgical technician, of Midland died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Shannon Pena of Odessa; son, Stephen Jacob Nichols of Midland; parents, Cotton and Mary Day of Odessa; and sister, Sharon Day of Odessa.

Nathan Ramirez

ODESSA - Nathan R. Ramirez, four-month old infant son of Nat and Emma Ramirez, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

He was born in Odessa.

Sandra Ripley

COMANCHE - Sandra Kay Ripley, 49, of Odessa, a longtime employee of First National Bank of Pecos, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gardens of Memory cemetery. Arrangements by Comanche Funeral Home.

She was born in Hico and was a 20-year resident of Pecos.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Mike Ripley of Odessa; daughters, Tanya Underwood and Sheryl Ripley, both of Lubbock; sisters, Barbara Wagner of Duffau, Joy Shulte of Fort Worth, Doris Reed of Granbury; and one grandchild.

Kathryn Sitton

PYOTE - Kathryn Sitton, 77, of Monahans, a retired dorm director for Valparaiso University, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pyote cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

She was born in Van Alstyne and moved to Monahans in 1992. She was Baptist. SURVIVORS: No survivors listed.

Frank Ureta

FORT STOCKTON - Frank Ureta Jr., 52, a U.S. Border Patrol officer, of McAllen died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, in McAllen.

Mass was celebrated Jan. 8, 1998, at St. Joseph Church with the Rev. Jim Chaumont officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

He was born in Fort Stockton and had lived in McAllen for 20 years. He was an Army veteran. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Parents, Frank Ureta Sr. and Josefina Ureta of Fort Stockton; daughters, Raquel Ureta of Dallas, Christina Ureta of McAllen; sisters, Nora Fields of Alamogordo, N.M. and Dolores Bustamante of Ruidoso.
