MIDLAND - J.H. 'Whit' Whitley, 72, of Midland, a retired employee of Ruthco, Inc., died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, in Midland.

Services were held Monday at Ellis Funeral Home with Cecil Robinson officiating. Burial was at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

He was born in Gorman and was a veteran of the Navy. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Betty Whitley of Midland; daughter, Tracy Whitley of Austin; sons, Kelly Whitley of Midland, Cary Whitley of Austin; and two grandchildren.

Eulojio Gonzales

ODESSA - Eulojio G. Gonzales Sr., 68, of Odessa died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Neva Shreffler

KERMIT - Neva Helen Ross Shreffler, 77, of Jal, N.M., died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at Lea Regional Medical Center in Hobbs.

Services are pending with Cooper Funeral Chapel.

Eulojio Gonzales

ODESSA - Eulojio S. Gonzales, 68, of Odessa, a cement layer, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Luis Cepeda officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 tonight at Martinez Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born in Lajitas and had been an Odessa resident since 1945. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Eulojio Gonzales Jr. of San Jacinto, Calif., Daniel Gonzales of Houston, Robert Gonzales of Bakersfield, Calif., Eddie Gonzales of Azuza, Calif., and Albert Gonzales of Buena Park, Calif.; daughter, Delma Perez of Corona, Calif.; sisters, Francisca Mierles, Simona Duran, Estela Castelo and Esperanza Hernandez and Lorina Guevara, all of Odessa; brothers, Manuel Gonzales of Amarillo, Jose Subia and Juan Subia, both of Odessa, and Alfonso Subia of Midland; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

John Harbison

STANTON - John Edward Harbison, 50, of Stanton, owner/operator of Jedco Chemical Co., died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Memorial Hospital in Midland.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

He was born in Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Drew Edward Harbison and Cory Lee Harbison, both of Stanton; brother, Bob Harbison of Brenham.

Bettye Jones

KERMIT - Bettye Jo Jones, 71, of Kermit, a retired accountant, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Memorial Hospital in Midland.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Henry O. Freund officiating. Burial will be at Crane County cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home.

She was born in El Dorado, and was a resident of Kermit for 41 years. She was Presbyterian.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Jane Westbrook of Ruidoso, N.M.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Merced Luna

ALPINE - Merced Lara Luna, 93, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at her residence.

Rosary will be said at 7 tonight at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Angeles cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.

She was born in Shafter.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Selestina Bustos, Felesitas Tucker and Enriqueta F. Acosta, all of Odessa; son, Albino Bara of Midland; 16 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

D.L. Miles

MIDLAND - D.L. Miles, 69, of Midland, a retired mechanic, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

He was born in Winters and was an Army veteran.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Terry Miles and Steve Miles, both of Midland; sister, Ruby Jean McBride of Vernel, Utah; brothers, George Miles and William Miles, both of Midland, and John Miles of Odessa; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Eulojio Rodriguez

FORT STOCKTON - Eulojio Rodriguez, 81, of Fort Stockton, a ranch hand, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at his residence.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Chaumont officiating. Rosary was said Tuesday at Fort Stockton Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

He was born in Sanderson and was a lifelong resident of Fort Stockton. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Son, Rodolfo Rodriguez of Carlsbad, N.M.; daughters, Belen Vargus of Fort Stockton, Cecilia Molina of Odessa; brothers, Juan Rodriguez of Chino, Calif., and Raymundo Garcia of Fort Stockton; sisters, Francisca Gurquidz and Leonor Reyes, both of Alpine, Catalina Ramirez of Fort Stockton; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

JAL, N.M. - Neva Helen Ross Shreffler, 77, of Jal, N.M., a homemaker, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at Lea Regional Hospital in Hobbs, N.M.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Blackie Ellison and Pattie Butts officiating. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home.

She was born in Rockland, Penn., and was a 42-year resident of Jal. She was Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Gerald Shreffler of Jal; daughter, Carolyn Joyce Hamilton of Amarillo; sisters, Louise Carlson of Titusville, Penn., Eleanor Ross and Janet Ross, both of Palm Bay, Fla.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Paul Pace

ODESSA - Paul Allen Pace, 56, of Odessa died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Eliseo Acosta

PECOS - Eliseo 'Eli' Acosta, 26, of Hobbs, N.M., an oil derrick hand, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, in Hobbs.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

He was born in Pecos.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Alma Granado of Hobbs; son, Eliseo Acosta Jr. of Hobbs; parents, Candelario and Elena Acosta of Hobbs; brothers, Alvin Nichols and Larry Nichols, both of Tuscon, Ariz.; Frank Mata of Roswell, N.M.; and Pedro Martinez, Mario Acosta and Elias Acosta, all of Hobbs; sisters, Maria Elena Munoz of Pecos; Tavita Valencia of Artesia, N.M., and Delma Herrera and Olga Nichols, both of Hobbs.

She was born in Fannin County, and was Baptist.
