Chester Ballard
ODESSA - Chester Earl Ballard, 84, of Odessa, a retired insurance salesman, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at Deerings Nursing Home.
No services are scheduled. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in South Bend, Ind. He was a Marines veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Cyd Ballard of El Paso and Sandi Tena of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren.

Thomas Butler
MIDLAND - Thomas Edward Butler, 60, of Midland died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at a local hospital.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Randall McDonald officiating. Arrangements by Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel.
He was born in Cumberland, Md., and was a resident of Midland for 10 years. He was an Army veteran.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Marcy Darby of Andrews, Shelly Butler of Midland and DeDee Duna of Odessa; son, Tommy Butler of Apollo, Pa.; sisters, Pat Mower of Plumbora, Pa., and Jo Ann Renia of Penn Hills, Pa.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

J.O. Jackson Jr.
SEMINOLE - J.O. Jackson Jr., 71, of Seminole, a retired farmer, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at South Seminole Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Dale officiating. Burial will follow at the Gaines County cemetery South. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.
He was born in Bakersfield, Calif., and moved to Seminole in 1978 from Eastland County. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Sons, James Leslie Jackson of Greenville, Miss., and Gary Don Jackson of Seminole; daughter, Gayla Diane Jackson Garcia of Hobbs, N.M.; sister, Margaret Jane Jackson Sloan of Granbury; and seven grandchildren.

Pedro Mendoza
CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico - Pedro Antonio Mendoza, 60, of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, a school principal, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. today at Iglesia Catolica Nuestra Senora de Refugio. Burial will be at Jardines Eternos. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Santa Fe Torreon, Mexico. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Son, Jorge Mendoza of Ciudad Juarez; daughter, Rosa Isela Mendoza of Ciudad Juarez; brothers, Enrique Mendoza Sr. of Odessa and Heriberto Mendoza of El Paso; and a grandchild.

Rosalio Otero
ANDREWS - Rosalio Cedillo Otero, 91, of Andrews, a retired employee of Kirby West Manufacturing Co., died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Permian General Hospital in Andrews.
Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Gully officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Andrews North cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Ejido El Jarro, Mexico, and moved to Andrews in 1980 from Mexico. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Brigida Otero of Andrews; sons, Luis Otero and Elias Martinez, both of Andrews; daughters, Elena Otero and Lila Otero, both of Monterrey, Mexico, Consuelo Otero of Tenancingo, Mexico, and Julia Morales of Andrews; sisters, Juana Otero of Rio Bravo, Mexico, Ignasia Tovar of Monterrey and Aurelia Tovar of Mathevala, Mexico; 48 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Michael Proft
PECOS - Michael James Proft, an infant, of Pecos died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Odessa Regional Hospital.
Memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
He was born in Odessa.
SURVIVORS: Mother, Tabitha Akins of Pecos; father, Jason Proft of Pecos; and grandparents, Mary Ann Akins and James Akins, both of Pecos, Berry Proft of Gray, Ind., and Mary Kay Proft of Springfield, Mo.

Ruby Waters
ALBANY - Ruby Leona Waters, 88, of Shackelford County, a homemaker, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Chisholm House Assisted Living in Albany.
Graveside services were Monday at the Albany cemetery with the Rev. David Mallory officiating. Arrangements by Morehart Mortuary.
She was born in Santa Anna. She was Christian.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Ray Waters of Odessa and Glenn Waters of Halls Head, Australia; daughters, Frances McAfee of Moran, Freda Deloach and Gracie Martin, both of Danbury, Mary Pioterek of Alvin and Barbara Griffin of Angleton; sisters, Frankie Evans of Bakersfield, Calif., Leona Lightfoot of Highland and Ema Sue Stacy of Abilene; brother, David McCain of Barstow, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

MIDLAND - Ruth Shrader, 85, of Midland died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at a local hospital.
Services are pending with Ellis Funeral Home.

Ruby Steinhauer
ODESSA - Ruby June Steinhauer, 72, of Odessa died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Dorothy Jean Myers
ODESSA - Dorothy Jean Myers, 81, of Tucson, Ariz., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, in Tucson. She was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Comanche. She married Howard Jackson “Jack” Myers on Aug. 21, 1943, in Temple. He preceded her in death March 1997. She owned and operated Gibbs Exclusive Styles and later owned Pants Palace from 1946 to 1976, both in Odessa. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Jean “Barbie” Corbett and husband Bud of Tucson and Linda Couser of Dallas; sister, Mary Jane Allen of Midland; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Feb. 23, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Cheryl Homsher officiating.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Rita P. Aguilar
MIDLAND - Rita P. Aguilar passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at her residence in Midland.
Rita was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Maverick to Carlos and Luisa Pando. In 1947, she married Sabino R. Aguilar in Grandfalls. She was a member of Corazon de Jesus Society in Monahans in 1964. She lived her Cursillo in San Angelo in May 1963.
Her parents; her husband, Sabino; and her brother, Salvador Pando preceded her in death.
Rita is survived by her children, Felis Subia and her husband Armando of Midland, Rosa Aguilar of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Alicia Shimel of El Paso, Ruben Aguilar and his wife Manuela of Odessa, Sabino Aguilar Jr. and his wife Jessie of Monahans, Louisa Stewart and her husband Steve of Odessa and Gracie Quintela and her husband Mario of Thornton, Colo.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and brother and sisters, Roberto Hernandez of Monahans, Maria Garcia of Monahans, Virgie Uranga of Denver, Colo., Frances Munoz of Monahans, Maggie Gonzales of Fort Stockton, Esperanza Rodriguez, Francis Valencia, Reyes Rey, Adelaida Moreno, Cruz Tarin, Carlos Pando Jr. and Domingo Pando. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be said for Rita at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Highway, Midland, 79701.
Pallbearers will be Armando Subia Jr., Marcos Aguilar, Benancio Aguilar, Adan Martin, Andy Vega and Sonny Aguilar. Honorary pallbearers are Jaime Subia, Daniel Subia, Estevan Subia, Anthony Aguilar, Joey Aguilar, Aaron Vega and Arik Vega.

James ‘Jamie F.’ Eubanks
ANDREWS - Graveside services for James “Jamie F.” Eubanks, 68, of San Angelo will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at the Andrews Old cemetery. A memorial service will follow at the Andrews Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Bob Zap of Andrews. Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Jamie died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at his residence in San Angelo. He was born Nov. 17, 1933, in O’Donnell. Jamie married Shirley Morris on Aug. 18, 1952, in Hobbs, N.M. He was an area manager for N.L. McCullough Tool Co. for 30 years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of San Angelo; daughters, Elaine and husband Cliff Thomas of Richardson and Karen and husband Kent Beard of Katy; and three grandchildren, Bryce Thomas and Allison Thomas, both of Richardson, and Carson Beard of Katy.

E.L. Clark
ODESSA - E.L. Clark, 89, of Odessa, retired owner and operator of C&H Motors of Odessa, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services were held in Custer County, Okla. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
He was born in Custer County and moved to Odessa in 1946. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Two nephews and three nieces.

Ruby Clark
ODESSA - Ruby L. Clark, 62, of Odessa, a retired employee of Redex Co., died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Terry Wright officiating. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
She was born in Houston. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Rose “Marie” Shadwick of Ottuma, Iowa, and Mary E. Clark of Kingsland; brothers, Glen Blankinship of Marble Falls and Keith Blankinship of Goodrich; sister, Wanda Wickliffe of Odessa; and three grandchildren.
