Makala Shea Spoon
ODESSA — Makala Shea Spoon, infant daughter of Benjamin and Teresa Spoon, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 28, 2002, in Odessa. She was born March 15, 2002, in Odessa. She was a member of Zion Fellowship Church.
She is survived by her parents, Benjamin D. and Teresa Spoon of Odessa; brother, Joshua Levi Spoon of Odessa; sister, Keisha Elizabeth Wagoner of Odessa; grandparents, Peggy and Kenny Walters of Odessa, Sally Duck of Carlsbad, N.M., and Wayne Spoon of Lafayette, La.; great-grandparents, Neatsy and Dwight Dunn of Loving, N.M., and Gene Spoon of Kermit; and numerous family and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Zion Fellowship Church with the Rev. Dewey Blevins officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill cemetery under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Wanda V. Tuck
LAWTON, Okla. — Funeral service for Wanda V. Hornbeck Tuck, 81, of Lawton, Okla., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Robertson, pastor of First Baptist Church in Anadarko, Okla., officiating.
Mrs. Tuck died Sunday at her residence.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tuck was born Sept. 14, 1920, in Alvoid to Bill and Mabel Goalden Hornbeck. She married H.F. “Pete” Tuck Jr. on Aug. 10, 1949, in Henrietta. He preceded her in death May 21, 2000. Mrs. Tuck was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a past president of The Doe’s Drove No. 52. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Jerry N. Johnson; two brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include three children, Harold C. Johnson of Lawton, Donnie Tuck and his wife Ellie of Lawton and Susan Lanier and her husband Kim of Edmond, Okla.; three sisters, Ruby Cree of Odessa, Betty Burns of Waurika, Okla., and Irene Sanner of Oklahoma City; brother, Bill Hornbeck of Duncan, Okla.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lawton Area Inc., 1930 N.W. Ferris Ave., Lawton, Okla., 73507, or to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 715 S.W. H Ave., Lawton, Okla., 73501.

Scott Edward Slankard
ODESSA — Scott Edward Slankard, 51, a glass glazer, passed away Friday, April 26, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Aug. 8, 1950, in North Platte, Neb.
The family will receive friends at 912 E. 21st St. from 6 to 9 p.m. today, April 30, 2002.
He was a man who was loved by all. He had few enemies and was loved by everyone in Odessa. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by a brother, Michael Glenn Slankard of Boardman, Ore.; a sister, Sharon Hoosier of San Antonio; and a special friend, Dollie Boddie of Odessa.
Services are entrusted to Memorial Services, 404 N. Washington Ave., Odessa.

Myrtis Conner
ODESSA — Myrtis Ida Lou Conner, 85, of Odessa, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Mike Bartlett officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Dundee.
SURVIVOR: Son, Ron Conner of Odessa.

G.H. Miller
ODESSA — G. H. Miller, 68, owner of Frontier Leasing & Equipment, of Odessa, died Feb. 9, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Littlefield. He was Christian.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Lexie Miller; daughters, Becky Cagle and Linda Greene, both of Odessa, and Leslie Broadwell of Gardendale; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Nely Rios
KERMIT — Nely Rios, 80, a housekeeper, of Kermit, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. John Lucido officiating. Burial will be at DeDelores cemetery in Chihuahua, Mexico. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home.
She was born in Jiminez, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Maria Teresa Nunez Rios, Laura Irene Nunez Rios, and Delia Rosalia Nunez Rios, all of Chihuahua, Mexico; sons, Jose Ricardo Nunez Rios and Luis Carlos Nunez Rios, both of Chihuahua, Mexico, and Santos Nunez Rios of San Angelo; sisters, Catalina Rios Salcido of Kermit and Socorro Rios Rodriguez of California; brother, Pedro Rios Lopez of California; 24 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Isabel Rivas
SAN ANGELO — Isabel ‘Chabelita’ Gonzales Rivas, 90, of San Angelo, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2002.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Sunday at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery. Arrangements by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
She was born in Hacina Deia Union-General Teran, Neveo Leon, Mexico. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Son, Joe Gary Rivas of San Angelo; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

PECOS — Christopher Cook, 21, of Balmorhea, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002.

ODESSA — Pilar Valenzuela, 69, of Odessa, died Sunday Feb. 10, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Clyde Alexander
COLORADO CITY — Clyde Alexander, 82, of Colorado City, a retired employee of Sid Richardson Carbon Co. in Odessa, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at a Big Lake hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Oak Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Helms and Dr. Bently Gwyn officiating. Burial will follow at the Colorado City cemetery. Arrangements by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
He was born in Coleman, Ala. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Opal Alexander of Colorado City; daughters, Patsy Terrell of Odessa and Beverly McGuire of Barnhart; brother, Foster Alexander of Voss, N.C.; four granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.

Jack Henderson Jr.
ODESSA — Jack Johnson “Spoochie” Henderson Jr., 45, of Odessa, a self-employed landscaper, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth White officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Services.
He was born in Odessa.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Janie Aguilar Henderson of Odessa; son, Casey Bennett of Odessa; stepsons, Michael Ronnie Jones of Odessa and Larry Jones of Houston; brothers, Joe Louis Roberson Sr., Thomas Earl Henderson Sr. and Bobby Joe Henderson, all of Odessa; sister, Helen Doris Dukes of Odessa; and two grandchildren.

Marcos Martinez Sr.
PECOS — Marcos Martinez Sr., 96, of Pecos, a retired farmer, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital in Pecos.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Saragosa cemetery in Saragosa. Arrangements by Peaceful Garden Funeral Home.
He was born in Toyahvale and was a lifelong resident of Pecos. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Son, Marcos Martinez Jr. of Pecos; daughters, Lydia M. Garcia of Albuquerque, N.M., and Yolanda Hinojos of Pecos; sister, Sostana Garcia of California; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Eloy Nanez
BROWNFIELD — Eloy Barron Nanez, 66, of Seminole, a retired farm laborer, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Brownfield Nursing Center in Brownfield.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Primera Iglesia Bautista with the Rev. Julio Flores officiating. Burial will follow at the Gaines County cemetery South. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.
He was born in Karnes City and was a resident of Seminole for over 40 years. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Irene Nanez of Seminole; stepsons, Daniel Soliz of San Antonio and Eusevio Soliz of Seminole; stepdaughter, Adelfa Trevino of San Antonio; sisters, Oralinda Nanez Luna of Seminole and Ermalinda Arrezola of Brownfield; numerous grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Alberto Ramos Sr.
ALPINE — Alberto B. Ramos Sr., 75, of Alpine, a retired ranch foreman, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at his residence.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be at Holy Angels cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
He was born in Alpine and was a lifelong resident. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Catholic.
