Henry Smoot

ODESSA - Henry Francis Smoot, 80, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at the Deerings Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ernest Easley officiating. Arrangements made by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born March 7, 1917, in White Deer and served in World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Mickey L. Holcomb of Odessa, Judith D. Short of Dallas and Nadine Taliaferro; sisters, Florance Aldridge of Midland, Hatty Noftsker of Carlsbad, N.M. and Pearl Foster of Lubbock; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

John Aaron

ODESSA - John 'Koot' Aaron Jr., 88, of Odessa died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Deering Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill cemetery with the Rev. Fred Davila officiating. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born in Biloxi, Miss., and had been a resident of Odessa for 38 years. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Surfornia Aaron of Odessa; sons, Jerry Aaron of Forrest City, Ark., Willie Rogers, Tommy Rogers and D.L. Rogers, all of Chicago and Ernest Rogers and O'Neill Rogers, both of Odessa; daughters, Shirley Jones of Maben, Miss., and Earnestine James of Odessa; brother, Jessie Aaron of Memphis, Tenn.; 25 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

J.L. Davis

BIG SPRING - J.L. Davis, 66, of Midway, a retired employee of Merchant Motor Lines, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring after a sudden illness.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Myers & Smith Chapel with the Rev. Bill Ballard officiating. Burial will be at Coahoma cemetery. Arrangements by Myers & Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.

He was born in Howard County and lived most of his life there. He was an Air Force veteran and a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Joyce Davis of Midway; sons, Robert Wayne 'Bo' Davis of Lake George, Colo., Frank Gainus of Lubbock; daughters, Debi Jo Davis and Connie Davis, both of Odessa, Bonnie Yee of Tyler, Frances Gressett and Lori Goodloe, both of Midland; brother, Ralph Davis of El Paso; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Donald J. Ellis

BIG SPRING - Donald J. Ellis, 68, of Big Spring, a retired carpenter, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Big Spring after a lengthy illness.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Craig Rhoton officiating. Arrangements by Myers & Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.

He was born in Whitehall, N.Y., and was an Air Force veteran. He was Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Mavis Cramer of Big Spring; daughters, Joanne Clark of Springfield, Ohio, Carole Woellert of Temple; stepsons, James Phillips Jr. of Farmington, N.Y., Robert Phillips of Tucson, Ariz.; stepdaughters, Sandra Black of Arlington, Donna Lehenbauer of Midland and Paula Rud of Odessa; brother, Rollin Ellis of Whitehall, N.Y.; sister, Barbara Leddick of Whitehall, N.Y.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.

Annie Green

AUSTIN - Annie Lee Burns Green, 91, of Tow, a retired school teacher and homemaker, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in Llano.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Capital Memorial Park with the Rev. Jerald Moore officiating. Arrangements by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Homes Inc.

She was born in Pendleton and was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Bettie Brooks of Tow; Shirley Cunningham of McBride, British Colombia; son, W.N. Green of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; brother, J.H. Burns Jr. of Denton; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Helen Gregory

PECOS - Helen M. Gregory, 79, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Evergreen cemetery with the Rev. Jim Daniels officiating. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home. She was born in Venita, Okla.

Clifford Kuykendall

HOBBS, N.M. - Clifford Lee Kuykendall, 72, of Hobbs, N.M., a retired employed of Marathon Oil Company, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, in Lubbock.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Adams officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Griffin Funeral Home Inc.

He was born in San Angelo and was a Baptist. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Mary Kuykendall of Hobbs, N.M.; sons, Darrell Kuykendall and Craig Kuykendall, both of Monahans and Dennis Kuykendall of Hobbs, N.M.; daughters, Vicky Hahn of Wills Point and Kathy Bruner of Hobbs, N.M.; brothers, Allen Kuykendall of Eldorado, Lonnie Kuykendall and Veryl Kuykendall, both of Big Lake, James Kuykendall of San Angelo and Ray Kuykendall of Barnhart; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Amado Morales

ODESSA - Amado Morales, 65, of Odessa, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico, and was a Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Brother, Jose Morales of Odessa; and sister, Silbirea Morales of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Sammie Pfiester

FORT STOCKTON - Sammie L. Pfiester, 79, of Georgetown, a bookkeeper and secretary, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at her residence.

Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Larry Krueger officiating. Burial will be at Easthill cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

She was born in Fort Stockton and had recently moved to Georgetown from Fort Stockton. She was a Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Roy Edward Pfiester of Los Angeles, Sam Lee Pfiester and Donald Clay Pfiester, both of Georgetown; sister, E. Jane Puckett of Fort Stockton; brother, H. Clay Warnock of Fort Stockton; and six grandchildren.

PECOS - Mona Mauldin, 47, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Reeves County Hospital.
