She moved to Odessa in 1969. She was Baptist.

He was born in Toyah and was a lifelong resident of Monahans. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

HOBBS, N.M. — L.W. “Dick” Dickerson, 84, of Hobbs, N.M., a retired yard supervisor for Gulf Oil Co., died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born in Edith and had been a resident of Kermit before moving to Hobbs in 1961. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

McCAMEY — Walter Leon Ford, 70, of McCamey, a retired carpenter, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland.

He was born in Winkler County and was a resident of McCamey for 18 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

He was born in Sanderson and was a resident of Wink for 12 years. He was Methodist.

McCAMEY — Hermania G. Zuniga, 73, of McCamey, a homemaker, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Crane Memorial Hospital in Crane.

Reba Francis Grimes
LUBBOCK — Reba Francis Grimes, 91, went home to be with the Lord March 1, 2002, in Lubbock.
Reba was born April 5, 1910, in Goldsboro. She married
the former A.D. Grimes July 15, 1939, in Abilene. They resided in Abilene during the early years of their marriage. While a resident of Abilene, Reba worked as a telephone operator and at Mrs. Brown’s boarding house. Several years later, they were blessed by the birth of their only child, Donna.
The family moved to Odessa in 1957. Reba then devoted all of her time to the care and nurturing of her husband and daughter. After the marriage of her daughter and the birth of her two granddaughters, Reba spent time as a babysitter for the children of others. She accepted a nursery attendant position at Vine Avenue Baptist Church in 1960. Reba spent many years at Vine Avenue giving the same love and attention to the children of others that she had given to her daughter and granddaughters.
After retirement, Reba spent her time caring for her husband and giving her time and energy in her neighborhood. She spent countless hours quietly helping others and was happiest when she could be of service to others.
The final years of Reba’s life were spent coping with the devastating results of Alzheimer’s Disease. Reba handled the illness with the same quiet grace that she had lived her entire life.
Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was loved dearly and will be greatly missed, but she has left us with the greatest gift of all, and that is her faith in God and Jesus Christ.
Reba was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. Grimes, and brothers, Ray, Roy and Ted Dick.
Reba is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and I.L. “Buck” Whitehead of Lubbock; granddaughter and husband, Dana and Ronny Martin of Youngsville, La.; granddaughter and husband, Carolyn and Jay Fuglaar of Lubbock; great-grandsons, Greg and Michael Martin of Youngsville, La., and Garrett Fuglaar of Lubbock; and great-granddaughters, Danielle and Lexi Fuglaar of Lubbock.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2002, at Christ Community Church at Northridge in Lubbock under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.
William “Bill” Sternadel
ODESSA — William “Bill” Sternadel, 79, of Odessa passed away Friday, March 1, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Engle.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Andy Spell officiating.
Bill came to Odessa in 1992 from Rosenberg. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1941 to 1945 during World War II. He married
Joy Norman in 1950. He worked for Cameron Iron in Houston for 50 years before retiring in 1982. He enjoyed reading and watch TV. He was a member of the VFW and was a Mason. He was a Baptist.
His mother, father, a granddaughter, Christina Wooten, and a brother, Jerry Sternadel, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife Joy Sternadel of Odessa; son, Bobby Krinsky of Oklahoma City; daughters, Georgianna Kalsch of Georgia, Kathy Dockall of Odessa and Diane Stickney of Midland; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Maxine Vowell Tennison
ODESSA — Maxine Vowell Tennison, 76, of Odessa passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at her residence. She was born Aug. 2, 1925, in Colorado City to O.D. and Bertha Vowell. She was a homemaker and a member of West Odessa First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.B. Tennison, in 1989, and her daughter, Martha, in 1986.
Mrs. Tennison is survived by her son, L.B. “Bubba” Tennison of Odessa; brother, Alford Lee Vowell of Eastland; three grandchildren, Debbie Meurer and Shea Tennison of Odessa and Sherri Davis of Midland; and eight great-grandchildren, Jordan, Amanda, Kody, Kami, Tyler, Kendall, Brandon and Chelsea.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ted Short and David Howard officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
