Belle 'Speedy' Speed
ODESSA — Belle Speed, 89, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Avalon Place Nursing Center. She was born Dec. 6, 1912, in Wolfe City to Robert and Victoria Roberts.
She was a member of Highway Temple Assembly of God Church. She worked several years for Dunlap’s and retired from Clinic Pharmacy. Speedy enjoyed baking cakes and cookies for her many, many friends and family.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Highway Temple Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Betty and Grover Yocham officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at the Lorenzo cemetery in Lorenzo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lloyd and Evoy Roberts; sister, Ruby Holt; and two grandsons, Charles Bagley Sr. and Jerry Don Key.
She is survived by two sons, Bob Bagley and wife Phyllis of Odessa and Charles Key and wife Phyllis of Sanford; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the caring staff at Avalon Place and Home Hospice.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

M.C. “Red” Crabb
ODESSA — M.C. “Red” Crabb, 56, of Odessa passed away Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Oct. 14, 1945, in Hamlin. He married Gloria Cranford on July 2, 1993, in Fort Stockton. He was a lifelong resident of Odessa and worked as a drilling consultant for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Crabb.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Crabb of Odessa; three sons, Mark Crabb and Lance Burleson, both of Odessa, and Gary Wilkinson of Amarillo; three daughters, Rhonda Lazore of Charleston, S.C., Jeanie Arredondo of Odessa and Julie Bateman of Duncan, Okla.; three sisters, Linda Hargreaves of Odessa, Deborah Lewis and Sheila Iness, both of Dilley; and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clydell Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Belle “Mom” Smith
ODESSA — On March 6, 2002, Belle “Mom” Smith went on to be with the Lord, who she loved so much. She was a longtime member of Westwood Baptist Church. She was born June 25, 1918, in Red Fork, Okla., to Wylie James and Evie Napper. She was the middle child with six older and six younger brothers and sisters.
Belle attended a small country school in Dawson County. She and her family lived and worked on a cotton farm where she met Carl Smith, the love of her life. They were married Sept. 19, 1936, and over the years became the proud parents to five children. Belle was a wonderful mother to her children and all their friends. Everyone called her Mom. She began babysitting in the early ’60s and “raised half of Odessa.” Mom loved people, children and animals. She had many devoted friends and was an excellent seamstress, kept an immaculate home, made and decorated cakes for the public and was a great cook. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Several of Belle’s family members have gone before her, including her husband, mother and father and 11 of her brothers and sisters.
Belle left many loved ones to carry out her legacy, including her children, Kenneth Smith and wife Patty of Sweeny, Micheal Bob Smith and wife Teresa of Mineral Wells, Randy Smith and wife Janet of Odessa, Joe Smith of Odessa and Kadon Fisher of Odessa; sister, Suvee Martin of Lubbock; grandchildren, Tami DeLuca, Toni Locklar, Rusty Smith, Josh Randall, Koolade Randall and Evin Smith; and great-grandchildren, Kenny Beaty, Kacy Beaty, Nic Bownds, Rio DeLuca, River DeLuca and Skyler Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 9, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Weeks Dubose officiating. A prayer service will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Madhava Agusala for his wonderful care over the last few years.
Any well-wishers are asked to send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4400 N. Big Spring, Suite C-32, Midland, Texas.

Darrell Lee Adams
LAKE COLEMAN — Darrell Lee Adams, 47, of Lake Coleman died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at his residence.
Darrell was born May 1, 1954, in Odessa. He attended Odessa High School and Permian High School. He was happily married to Glenda Norene Adams. He studied jewelry making for several years and he loved to fish.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Norene of Lake Coleman; parents, Delores and Glen Adams of Odessa; his sister, Glenda Lynn Adams of Odessa; and grandmother, Helen Carter Ventress of Terlton, Okla.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, March 9, 2002, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel in Coleman. Burial will follow at Coleman cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Morgan Wade Rogers
ODESSA — Morgan Wade Rogers, age 16, of Odessa, passed away at University Medical Center Hospital in Lubbock on Feb. 1, 2002.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2002 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 11th and West Loop 338. Mr. Luther Whitlow and Mr. Frank Davis will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Morgan was born in Kermit on May 13, 1985. He was home schooled and was a short time away from graduating. He was active in Kingdom Hall Construction throughout the southwest.
His sister, Angela Lea Nelson preceded him in death.
Survivors include his parents, Ronnie and Diane Rogers of Odessa; sisters, Camille Richardson and Jennie Rogers, both of Odessa and Monica Contreras of Graham; grandparents, Shorty and Juanita Rogers of Lovington, NM, Don and Gerry Bush of Arlington and Cotton and Naomi Thorne of Colorado City; nephews, Tyler and Preston Wade Richardson; numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends who were as close as family.
Morgan was a beautiful young man with a love of life and wonderful dreams for the future. Between hiking, motor cross, and other outdoor activities, he still managed to find time for his family, which meant so much to him. He left a void behind that will never be filled, until the resurrection to life on a paradise earth. The entire assembly of family and friends look forward to that day when the words of Revelation 21:4 will be fulfilled “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
A memorial fund has been set up for Morgan Rogers at Southwest Bank.
Services are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Latricia Ann Hamilton
MIDLAND — Latricia Ann Hamilton, known as Meme to her grandchildren, of Houston, Texas, passed away Feb. 1, 2002 at the age of 52 at a Houston area hospital after an intense 7-year battle with cancer. She was born in Stanton, Texas, July 2, 1949 to Hester and Averill (Hale) Badgett.
She married Royce Hamilton 35 years ago on Jan. 14, 1967 in Tarzan, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1995.
She is survived by her husband, Royce Hamilton; son, Stephen Brent Hamilton and his wife, Diana and their two children, Stephen and Megan of Odessa; and by daughter, Christy Michelle Hamilton Jurgensen and her husband, Ted of Midland; mother, Averill Badgett of Greenwood Community, Midland; brothers, Loie Badgett of Andrews, Billy Badgett of Neosho, Mo. And Sammy Badgett of Valley Mills, Texas.
Pallbearers are Stephen Hamilton, Loie Badgett, Billy Badgett, Sammy Badgett, Dennis Bright and Kent Elenburg.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors, with the Rev. Sonny Plischke officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. You are invited to leave a message or memory in the online guest book at www. Wilson

Ruby Arlene Alcorn
ODESSA — Ruby Arlene Alcorn, 82, of Odessa, a retired C.S. technician for Medical Center Hospital, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 1, 2002 after a lengthy illness.
Arlene was born March 12, 1919 to the late Herman Emil and Vellie Abney Vogel in Winchell, Texas. She married J.C. Alcorn on Dec. 4, 1941. He preceded her in death June 14, 1988. Arlene was also preceded in death by her sisters Alice Marie Markham and Velma Christine Riordan and brothers Sandy Vogel, Dell Vogel, Tom Vogel and Grover Vogel.
Survivors include sons, Michael C. Alcorn of Odessa and Joe Abney Alcorn and his wife, Tali, of Richmond, Va.; one granddaughter, Jane Brawner Alcorn, also of Richmond; brothers, Luther Vogel of Brownwood, Earl Vogel and wife, Dorthy of Fort Worth; brother-in-law–Cecil Riordan of Big Spring; and sisters-in-law Earlene Vogel of Brownwood and Edalene Vogel of May Pearl.
Funeral services are pending for Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
The family would like to express special thanks to the membership of Second Baptist Church and Home Hospice, especially Della, T.J., Cheryl and Holly, for their care and prayers during this difficult time.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Second Baptist Church, 711 E. 17th St., Odessa, Texas, 79761, where Arlene had been a long-time member.

Janis Ann McFarland
ODESSA — Janis Ann McFarland, 70, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at her residence in Odessa. She was born Feb. 20, 1931, to Herman and Margaret McDonald in Pampa, Texas.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. David Mindel of First Christian Church officiating.
Janis came to Odessa in 1934. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1948 and was a member of the Sub-Deb Club and the Honor Society. She married Billy McFarland on Nov. 23, 1949, in Odessa, and was a talented pianist and singer. She was also a substitute teacher and homemaker. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi and was awarded the Order of the Rose.
Her parents, Herman and Margaret McDonald, and brother, Brent L. McDonald, all precede her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Billy McFarland; son, Jerrold G. McFarland, both of Odessa; daughter & son-in-law, Judith A. and Randy Martin, of Grapevine; father-in-law, Reed W. McFarland of Odessa; brother-in-law, Michael Reed McFarland; and sister-in-law, Jannine McFarland, both of Dallas; nephew, Robert Craig McFarland, and cousin, Jerry Wayne Schmidt.
Memorials can be made to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Services are being arranged by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Judy M. Connell
ODESSA — Judy M. Connell, 55, of Midland, passed away on Jan. 31, 2002, in Midland, Texas due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1946, in Santa Ana, Calif., to Eugene and Margaret Moykey. She was a Christian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Margaret Moykey; daughter, Crystal Gayle O’Neal; and sister, Diane Ledbetter.
She is survived by her sons, Steve O’Neal of Odessa, Greg O’Neal of Midland, Jimmy O’Neal of Fredricksburg, Va., and Danny O’Neal of Odessa; stepfather, Bill Carr of Florida; brother, Dennis Moykey of Marino Valley, Calif.; sisters, JoAnnie Covey and Barbara Brown, both of California; and six grandchildren.
Services are schedule for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gary Al’be officiating, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery. There will be a family gathering with friends at Odessa Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.
