Pauline M. Chapman
ODESSA — Pauline M. Chapman, 88, of Odessa passed away Sunday, April 7, 2002. She was born Dec. 26, 1913, in Decker to Marion and Sarah Mathews.
Pauline married Jack Chapman on Aug. 13, 1939, in Denton. They moved to Odessa 48 years ago from Sweetwater. She was a beautician in Sweetwater for eight years where she owned her own shop. She was a member of Eisenhower Church of Christ. She liked playing bridge, cooking, gardening, sewing, working crossword puzzles and her little Chihuahua “Consuelo.”
Her grandson, Stephen Guy Johns; three brothers, Archie Mathews, Clarence Mathews and Roy Mathews; and a sister, Lucy Ottinger preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Chapman of Odessa; daughter, Ann McGuire of Odessa; brother, Ernest Mathews of California; grandson, Philip Johns; granddaughter, Liz Moore and husband Jerry; great-grandson, Sean Alexander; and great-granddaughter, Stevie Moore.
The family will receive visitors from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Mr. Burt Groves officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family requests memorials be made to the Greater West Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Peter Frederick Forness
ODESSA — Peter Frederick Forness, 81, of Odessa passed away Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village. He was born Sept. 18, 1920, in Pawhuska, Okla. He married Mary Elizabeth Sage on Oct. 24, 1942, in Gowanda, N.Y.
Mr. Forness played football for Oklahoma University. He moved to Odessa in the 1960s from Farmington, N.M. He was district foreman for Amoco Corp. and retired after 43 years of service.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Sharon Vega, and granddaughter, Teresa Witt.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Forness of Odessa; daughters, Marsha Ward of Odessa and Barbara Boop of Kingsland; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 9, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Allison Joy Kunkel
AUSTIN — Allison Joy Kunkel, age 9, was born Aug. 28, 1992, and went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 7, 2002.
Allison was a very happy child; she graced her family and friends with love and smiles.
She is survived by her parents, Ron and Ramona Kunkel of San Angelo; grandparents, Nancy Fabian and Guadalupe Fabian, both of Austin, and Louise Kunkel of Odessa; great-grandmother, Adelia Fabian of Austin; godparents, Paul and Joyce Gibb of Austin; and four aunts and two uncles.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lewis King, Dr. Casey Mulcihy and Dr. Stuart Rowe for all their care throughout her years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 9, 2002, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Weaver as officiant. Interment will follow at Assumption cemetery in Austin.

Herman E. Boyd
ODESSA — Herman E. Boyd, 82, of McKinney passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, in McKinney. He was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Honaker, Va., to Hobart and Linnie Boyd.
Mr. Boyd lived in Odessa since 1941 before moving to McKinney in 1996. He married Jean Steen on July 16, 1943, in Odessa. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from 1941 to 1945 as a sergeant.
He was the owner of Odessa Industrial Services, which he retired from in 1986. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of the Chuck Wagon Gang, Chamber of Commerce and VFW. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
His parents; a brother, Robert Boyd; and a sister, Suzie Michaels preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Boyd of McKinney; son, Gary Boyd and wife Mary of Waco; daughter, Deborah Preston of McKinney; granddaughters, Amy Boyd, Emmalie Welstead and husband Matt, Alanna Shouse and Kim-berly Shouse; grandsons, Cory Shouse and wife Ashley and Brian Shouse and wife Shannon; and three great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today, Feb. 16, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Thomason officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family request memorials to Temple Baptist Church.
Services are under the directions of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Rebecca Ann Comer
ODESSA — Rebecca Ann Comer, 53, of Odessa passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Dec. 18, 1948, in Ottumwa, Iowa. She graduated from Eddyville, Iowa, High School.
Mrs. Comer moved to Odessa in 1980 from Kirkville, Iowa. She had worked for Texas Instruments for 18 years. She was a member of Latter Rain Ministries.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Comer of Odessa; son, Brian Comer of Odessa; daughter, Billie Moore of Odessa; brother, Mike Jones of Odessa; sisters, Sally McBurney and Teresa Sanford, both of Odessa, and Connie Comer of Ottumwa, Iowa; and a grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Latter Rain Ministries Church with the Rev. Craig DeArmond officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Mae Delle Flack
ODESSA — Mae Delle Flack, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went home to the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002. She was 89 years of age. Mrs. Flack was born Aug. 9, 1912, in Graham. Loved by all who knew her, Mrs. Flack was an active member of Parkview Church of Christ for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd M. Flack.
She is survived by her son, Harold M. Flack and wife Carolyn; daughter, Helen Eisenbeck and husband Bob; grandchildren, Robert K. Eisenbeck II and wife Shari, Deanna Danley and Denise LeDuc and husband Mark; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Meagan Danley and Lauren Eisenbeck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 16, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

John E. Griffith
MIDLAND — John E. Griffith was called home on May 27, 2002. He quietly and lovingly served God.
John was born Aug. 18, 1929, and served in the U.S. Army in 1946. He moved to Midland in 1951 and later met and married Lou Ann Jackson in 1952. Prior to his retirement in 1986 he was employed by Pioneer Corporation.
John is survived by his wife, Lou Ann Griffith of Midland; daughters, Gwen Gunter and her husband Herman of Midland; Judy Wilhite and her husband Dennis of Odessa; grandchildren, Travis, Robert, Amanda, Ashley, Kristina, James, Rachel and Brian; three brothers and four sisters. A daughter, Jill Naill, preceded him in death in 1994.
John was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed by all. He was a charter member of Crestview Baptist Church.
Visitation will be today, May 28, 2002, at Ellis Funeral Home between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Crestview Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. John Gerlach and the Rev. Ronald Vandyke officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Stella Louise Benefield Nutt
KERMIT — Stella Louise Benefield Nutt, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2002, at the age of 77. She came into this world Sept. 14, 1924, in Chilicothe, Texas.
She married L.R. “Red” Nutt on March 4, 1955, in Lovington, N.M. To that union was born a daughter, Foydell and a son, Layne.
In her passing she left behind to treasure her memory her daughter and son-in-law, Mickey and Foydell Mitchell of Monahans; one son and daughter-in-law, Layne and Shannon Nutt of Kermit; five grandchildren, Whitney, Kaitlin and Logan Mitchell and Lauren and Lindsay Nutt; two brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law, and many nephews and nieces.
Stella was still active in the family business, Kermit Motor Company, at the time of her death. She had a special gift — her love for all her children. Although by profession she was not a daycare provider, you wouldn’t know it since she usually had two or three children with her at all times. However, her grandchildren were her pride and joy. There was nothing more important to her than those five children. She will be remembered most for always placing her family’s interests and needs above her own. She was an energetic, beautiful and giving lady that will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the nursery department of the First Baptist Church of Kermit.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today, May 28, 2002, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. J.R. Manning presiding. Burial will follow at the Kermit cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Cooper Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers are Bob Highley, Duff Michel, Dan Michel, Mike Emmerson, Todd Ethridge and Kelly Creager. Honory pallbearers are Bill White, Larry Hanna, Jerry Fullen and Jack Healy.

Billy Joe Taylor
DEANVILLE — Billy Joe Taylor, 76, beloved husband and father, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at his residence in Deanville after fighting a short battle with cancer. Mr. Taylor was born June 24, 1925, in Sintinel, Okla., to A.B. and Opal (Brown) Taylor. He was a World War II veteran.
On Oct. 11, 1947, Billy Joe married Pat Burchfield in Oklahoma City. He followed the oil fields and in 1948 they moved to Odessa and lived there for many years. Billy Joe made many friends in his life and made even more after moving to Deanville in 1978. He was a member of the Frenstat Gun Club and the V.F.W. Being a retired business man, he owned and operated Falcon Tubing Services in Deanville. In his free time, Billy Joe loved to go fishing and hunting. He also won many trophies playing dominoes and earned the title of Domino Champion.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Patty Taylor of Deanville; son, Billy C. Taylor and wife Terri of Brenham; daughters, Patsy Allen and husband Larry of Odessa and Susan Maass of Somerville; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Udell Taylor of Odessa, Dub and Sue Taylor of Odessa, Jimmy and Geneva Taylor Sanford and Johnnie and Muriel Taylor of Duncan, Okla.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Fern and Harvey Mason of Tuttle, Okla. and Shirley Bean of Artesia, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Rickey; and his grandson, Josh.
Funeral services will be today, May 28, 2002, at 10 a.m. in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Deanville with the Rev. Don Laird officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of choice.
Funeral services entrusted to Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
