MORAN — Hazel Marie McCollum McKinney, 82, of Moran, a homemaker, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at Canterbury Villa Nursing Center in Cisco.
Services were at 2 p.m. June 14 at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Jack Clack and Cole Farmer officiating. Burial was at Dennis cemetery. Arrangements by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.
She was born in Callahan County near Moran and had been a resident of Odessa. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Kenneth W. McKinney of Moran; son, Kenneth L. McKinney of Fort Worth; daughter, Patricia Gross of Castle Rock, Colo.; sisters, Opal Boyd of Rising Star and Doris Star of Odessa; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.

HOUSTON — Carolyn Montgomery, 62, of Odessa died Sunday, June 23, 2002, in Houston.

Chris Blair
ODESSA — Chris Blair, 18, of Odessa passed away Monday, July 29, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Jan. 28, 1984, in Odessa.
Graveside services are scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Kyle Rogers officiating.
Chris was a lifelong resident of Odessa. He attended school at Hood Junior High School and Permian High School. He worked as a waiter at Manuel’s Restaurant for a short time. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and rapping. He was a fun-loving, caring, energetic teen-ager.
He is survived by his fiance, Heather Payne of Odessa; parents, Suzanne and David Drennan of Odessa; father, Duane Blair of Lampasas; brother, Dexter Drennan of Odessa; sister, Jaclyn Drennan of Odessa; grandparents, Jack Drennan and wife Sarah of Odessa, Ethel Stone of Odessa and Bill and Marcia Meister of Elephant Butte, N.M.; and several aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Wanda Kay Bigham
TRINIDAD, Colo. — Wanda Kay Bigham, age 43, of Bon Carbo, Colo., died unexpectedly July 28, 2002. She was born Sept. 18, 1958, in Odessa to Lonnie and Lucille (Wiginton) Kerr.
She was married
to Kenneth Bigham Nov. 25, 1986, in Odessa. She worked in the restaurant and retail businesses in Odessa. They moved to Trinidad in October 1997. She loved to hunt, fish and spend time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents; and infant children, Talona Kay Kerr and Baby Kerr.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth of the family home; daughters, Dora (Anthony) Martinez of Raton, N.M., and Heather Sweaney of Odessa; grandchildren, Tyler, Ethan and Haley; mother, Lucille Kerr; brothers, Gary (Peggy) Kerr, Larry (Brenda) Kerr, Rodney Kerr, Robert (Judy) Kerr and Joe Kerr, all of Odessa; sister, Margret (Kirk) Burleson of Odessa; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home.

Edith Cavell Whitley Bullard
CRANE — Edith Cavell Whitley Bullard went to meet her Jesus July 29, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dalton Bullard, and her daughter, Kay Elizabeth Bullard Brents.
Edith was born Nov. 14, 1918, in Electra. She was named for the famous World War I nurse Edith Cavell. This is a fact that she was very proud of. Edith was a published writer and passed her love of writing and poetry to her children. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Crane for 53 years.
She is survived by her children, Mary Anne Bullard Reed of Sherman, George Dalton Bullard Jr. of San Angelo and Jencie Bullard Edwards of Crane; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Special thanks to five north Shannon Hospital staff and Dr. Peter Chang.
Visitation will start at 2 p.m. today, July 31, 2002, at Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in Crane.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Crane with the Rev. Lyndel Lee officiating. Interment will follow at the Crane County cemetery.

She was born in Coleman and was a resident of Kermit for 59 years. She was Baptist.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Armando G. Garcia, 64, of Las Cruces, N.M., a retired public relations agent for Maloof-Coors Distributors, died Monday, July 29, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.

He was born in Barstow and was a resident of the Las Cruces area since 1962. He was Catholic.

MARFA — Mario Espinosa Valenzuela, 45, of Marfa, a self-employed carpenter, died Monday, July 29, 2002, at an Alpine hospital.

He was born in Odessa and was a lifelong resident of Marfa. He was Catholic.

ODESSA — Manuel C. Melendez, 65, of Odessa died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at his residence.

Fayrene Edington
ODESSA — Fayrene Edington Reeves, 73, of Odessa, was born Aug. 14, 1928, in Marietta, Okla. to George F. and Mary Bessie Edington.
She was the 13th of 14 children. Her long fought battle with cancer and heart failure ended on July 20, 2002, at the Hospice Home in Odessa.
She is survived by one sister, Maxine and her husband Glen Sweet of Gainesville; brother Kelsey Edington and his wife Grace of Farmers Branch; a brother-in-law Raymond “Sonny” and his wife Kitty Reeves of Odessa; a sister-in-law Dorothy and husband Bob Lamb of Lubbock; sister-in-law Wanda Edington of Gainesville; and brother-in-law Floyd “Buddy” Reeves of Thackersville, Okla.
Fayrene and her late husband James T. “Jimmy” Reeves raised their seven children in Odessa. Two of their sons, Harold Ray Reeves and Johnny Floyd Reeves preceded them in death.
Fayrene is survived by her daughter, Barbara F. Reeves, her children Lisa McNeill and husband Lee Uselton and Bret McNeill all of Gainsville, daughter, Valerie and husband Jimmy Hampton of Gorman, their children, Jancey Hamilton and husband Brian Terry of Lampasas, Michael Hampton and wife Susie, Michelle Hampton Thackerson all of Carbon, Earl Hamilton of Coppers Cove, and her daughter, Jeanette and husband Jeff Covert, their children Corey Bostic and Andrew Covert all of Odessa, daughter, Janice and husband Malcom Campbell, sons Jeremy and wife Christen Rashidi and Kris and his wife Paty Campbell all of Odessa; son, Bobby G. Reeves and his children Joshua and Chelsea Reeves of Odessa.
“Mema” was dearly loved by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and cherished by many nieces and nephews who called her “Aunt Faye.” Mom touched the hearts of many people through her life and leaves behind many, many friends who loved her very much.
Fayrene and Jimmy owned and operated R&J Service Company, Crest Recreation and West Texas Flea Market during their years in Odessa.
Our family wished to give many thanks to Mom’s doctors and nurses, and employees of Odessa Medical Center, the Cancer Center, Home Hospice, Odyssey Hospice and other friends. And a very special thanks to Jim Haas, Lettie Miroles and Mom’s niece Peggy Case Johns and Aunt Maxine Sweet and Tammi “Sweet” Hughes who stood beside us for the last month and gave us added strength through Mom’s journey to the life hereafter.
Pallbearers include Tommy Gonzales, Tim Woods, Jason Rubio, Mike Covert, Doug Webster, Greg Covert, Shawn Olguin and Jr. Allen; honorary pallbearers will be her beloved grandsons.
Services are at 2 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Lyons officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
