ODESSA — Shirley P. Gotcher, 69 years of age, passed away on July 31, 2002, in San Angelo. She was born June 21, 1933, in Breckenridge. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Surviving are her husband, Turiel Don Gotcher of Odessa; daughters, Gail Moore, Diane Bowen and Tracy Gotcher, all of Odessa; brother, Gerald Perry of Odessa; sisters, Virginia Brigance of Oklahoma and Mary Brimer of Arkansas; grandchildren, Missy Moore, Tom Moore, Jeremy Bowen and Matthew Bowen; and great-grandchildren, Kandi Warren, Dusty Warren and Bethann Warren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday at Odessa Funeral Home. Funeral services have not been set at this time.

ODESSA — Bill Eaton Sr., 70, of Odessa, a retired petroleum worker, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at West Odessa First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Howard officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Cromwell, Okla.

ODESSA — R.J. “Frenchie” Gaspard, 77, of Odessa died Friday, June 19, 2002 at Medical Center Hospital.

ODESSA — Bonnie Jean McCasland, 77, of Odessa, a retired Montgomery Ward’s employee, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Seabury Nursing Home in Odessa.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dave Rink officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She was born in Chilicothe, Mo. She was Methodist.

Alan Don Gardner
DUNCAN, Okla. — Alan Don Gardner, 71, of Duncan, Okla., died Thursday, July 25, 2002, in New Braunfels. He was born May 30, 1931, to Albert and Naomi “Shook” Gardner in Duncan.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2002, at Resthaven Memorial Garden with the Rev. Phil Wahl officiating. Arrangements by Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by a son, Alan Don “Donnie” Gardner Jr.
He is survived by a daughter, Gaye Ann Cruz of New Braunfels; mother, Naomi Gardner of Duncan; sisters, Lida Thornburgh of Duncan and Jayne Ashbrook of Collinsville, Ind.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mando Cruz, Steven Harvey, Aaron Brooks, Michael Thornburgh and Chris Basham.
Mona B. Jenkins
ST. LOUIS — Mona B. Adams Jenkins entered into rest Friday, July 26, 2002, beloved wife of the late William Jenkins.
She is the loving mother of Terry (Lois) and Dr. Steve (Gay) Jenkins; proud grandmother of Tracy (Kevin) Hoesli; and our dear sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Mona was very active in the Democratic politics and received numerous awards of community service.
Services were at 7 p.m. Monday at the Stygar Florissant Chapel. Burial followed at Memorial Park in St. Louis.

Jesse L. ‘Bunny’ Owens
ODESSA — Mrs. Jesse L. “Bunny” Owens was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Denton to Chester and Fannie Pass. She was the youngest and last of a family of five sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Owens passed away Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Hospice House in Odessa.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Cheryl M. Homsher officiating. Bunny grew up in Denton and graduated from TWU in 1942 where she majored in speech and drama. Her father was a longtime and highly respected chief of police in Denton. Her mother was a graduate of North Texas College and taught school prior to her marriage. Shortly after Bunny graduated from college, she married
Jesse L. Owens on Feb. 1, 1942.
She and Jesse had resided in Denton, College Station, Texarkana and Vicksburg, Miss. They moved to Odessa in 1952 when Jesse was hired as manager of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Owens was his “right hand” during his tenure there. Bunny was an accomplished book reviewer and a member of the Thursday Study Club. She was a homemaker and a 50-year member of the First Presbyterian Church.
One of Bunny’s sisters, Mazie Pass Harris, who preceded her in death, was an English teacher at Odessa High School for many years.
Survivors include her husband of over 60 years, Jesse L. Owens of Odessa; a son, Dr. Kenneth L. Owens of Santa Fe, N.M.; a grandson, Andrew Owens of the home; a granddaughter, Mrs. Pamela Stephens of Ruidoso, N.M.; and a great-granddaughter, Sydney. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Mrs. Doyal Perry of Flower Mound, John Pass of Midland, Ted Pass of Sophia, N.C., Shirley Joe Ames of Amarillo, Mrs. Frankie Douglas of Plainview and John Halliday of Laguna Beach, Calif.
She was a wonderful wife, companion and mother during our 60-and-a-half years of marriage.
Louise Milburn
ODESSA — Louise Buckner Milburn, 74, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at Hospice House in Odessa. She was born Dec. 19, 1927, in San Marcos to Walter and Edith Buckner.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Trout officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 18, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Louise married
Cullom Milburn in September 1947 in San Marcos. They moved to Odessa in 1948. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church. She was also a supporter and active member of the Junior League, Presidential Museum, Ellen Noel Art Museum, Symphony, Art Institute of the Permian Basin, P.E.O. and the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was a wordsmith and loved reading. Spending time with her family and friends brought her much joy.
Her family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Corwin and Dr. Watkins and staff, and also the Allison Cancer Center and Hospice.
Her husband Cullom preceded her in death in 1996.
She is survived by her son, Bill Milburn and wife Kim of Austin; daughters, Nancy Milburn Granaghan and husband Dr. Tom Granaghan of San Angelo and Julia Milburn of Midland; brother, Bud Buckner and wife Sarah of Uvalde; and four grandchildren, Katie, John, Ben and Jill.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice of Midland and Hospice House of Odessa.

Neva Jones Phillips
BIG SPRING — Neva Jones Phillips, 83, of Fort Collins, Colo., went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 4, 2002, in Fort Collins.
Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today, June 8, 2002, at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with the Rev. Dudley Mullins, pastor of East Fourth Street Baptist Church, officiating.
Mrs. Phillips was born April 15, 1919, in Big Spring and married
Elgin Jones on Nov. 20, 1937, in Lees Community in Howard County. He preceded her in death June 3, 1985. She then married
Roy Phillips on April 29, 1989, in Odessa, and he preceded her in death June 28, 1996.
Mrs. Phillips graduated from Stanton High School in 1937. She and Elgin lived in Odessa for 23 years before moving back to Big Spring. She moved to Fort Collins in December 1998 and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Phillips was a member of East Fourth Street Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for 50 years.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Jack Hanks of Wellington, Colo.; her grandson and his wife, Andy and Kristi Hanks and their children, Gavin, Kassidie, Isaiah and Kaci Rae Hanks, all of Grand Junction, Colo.; her granddaughter and her husband, Sunni Lea and Mark Browning and their children, Brice and Kailee Browning, all of Fort Collins; a sister, Marjorie Grissam of Midland; and two brothers, Harmon Smith of Victoria and Howard Smith of Evergreen, Colo.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Harvey Elgin Jones; her parents, Oscar and Annie Smith; and two brothers, Robert Smith and Norris Smith.
