Velma Hodges
ODESSA — Velma Hodges, 93, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at Avalon Place Nursing Home. She was born June 5, 1909, in San Augustine. She married
Johnnie B. Hodges on Sept. 29, 1932. He preceded her in death May 26, 1988. Mrs. Hodges moved to Odessa in 1977. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Hodges of Odessa; sisters, Era Jones of Odessa and Anne Knutsen of San Francisco; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Hobbs, Sharon Pace and Brian Hodges, all of Odessa; six great-grandchildren, Tony Renee Hodges, Lisa Meyer, Charles Alexander Meyer, James Paul Pace, Lane Dial and Justice Hodges, all of Odessa; and a great-great-grandchild, Adan Elijah Gonzales.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Rick Alkire officiating under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Murray P. McDonald
ODESSA — Murray P. McDonald, 74, of Coushatta passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at LSU Medical Center Hospital in Shreveport, La. He was born April 9, 1928, to Murray Sr. and Eva Mae McDonald in Sweetwater.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He moved to Odessa in 1951 from Sweetwater. He moved to Coushatta in 1996 and married
Roberta Campbell that same year. He enjoyed painting. He was Baptist.
His mother and father; first wife, Dessie; and brothers, Bobby Joe and Kenneth McDonald preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta McDonald of Coushatta; son, Stephen McDonald of Odessa; sister, Justine Manning of Fort Worth; two nieces, Robbie Jean Kaiser and Eva Mae McDonald; and two nephews, Bobby Joe McDonald and Kenneth Ray McDonald.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Kitchen officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Lillian Clawson Sullivan
WESTBROOK — Mrs. Lillian Clawson Sullivan, 77, of Odessa, formerly of Westbrook, died Monday at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, June 6, 2002, at First Baptist Church in Westbrook with the Rev. Bob Manning officiating. Burial will follow at the Westbrook cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sullivan was born April 16, 1925, to P.E. and Ethel Clawson in Mitchell County. She married
Herman Edward Sullivan after World War II. He preceded her in death in 1980. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Westbrook and the Golden Age Club. She was a longtime resident of Mitchell County, the last three years residing in Odessa. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, C.E. “Era” Clawson.
She is survived by four children, David L. and wife Linda Sullivan, Lynda and husband Tommy Bryant and Vicki and husband Bobby Reed, all of Odessa, and Kim and husband T.R. Rhyne of Bowie; 10 grandchildren, David and wife Stephanie Sullivan of Clyde, Debra and husband Eric Pryde of Cincinnati, Jennifer and husband Eddy Bizzell of Odessa, Terry Bryant of Pilot Point, Marca and husband Colby Washburn of Odessa, Wendy and husband Philliph Whirley of Odessa, Bryan and wife Erica Reed of Odessa, Casey and wife Rose Reed of Odessa, Adam Rhyne of Bowie and Chris Rhyne of Bowie; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, J.C. and wife Frances Clawson of Conway, Ark., and Dewayne and wife Dee Clawson of Coahoma; and four sisters, Louise Miller of Oklahoma City, Drucilla Board of Westbrook, Syble Sparks of Terrell and La Rue Finderson of Corpus Christi.
Charles Washington Jr.
ODESSA — Charles Washington Jr., 46, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, in Childress. Mr. Washington Jr. was a lifelong resident of Odessa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Washington Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Dixie Hemphill Washington; three sons, Lamont Ross of Georgia, Cornelius Washington of Odessa and Dacian Washington of Odessa; three sisters, Claudette Jones and husband Eddie of Odessa, Cherly Jordan of Houston and Paula Wilson of Odessa; and a grandchild.
He was born Feb. 14, 1956, in Odessa, the son of Charles and Dixie Hemphill Washington Sr.
Viewing and visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2002, at St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. R.T. McNeil officiating. Burial will be at the Ector County cemetery.

Terry Yarbrough
ODESSA — Terry Yarbrough, 39, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at his residence. He was born Aug. 8, 1962, in Muncie, Ind. Terry graduated from Connersville High School in 1981. He moved to Odessa in 1981 and married
Kendra Mulliniks on Feb. 14, 1986. He opened his own business, TKN Services, in 1987. He was co-founder and president of the West Texas Water Corp.
Terry was a wonderful loving, supportive husband and father. He loved both his daughters, and they brought joy to his life. He was always willing to help anyone out in their time of need. He was an extraordinary man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kendra Yarbrough of Odessa; daughters, Nicole and Kyla Yarbrough of Odessa; parents, Bob and Nona Yarbrough of Indiana; sisters, Dawn Sheveland of Kentucky, Jane Mayo of Florida and Simone Schoettmer of Indiana; brothers, Nicky Yarbrough of Colorado and Rick Taylor of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Jack Bell
ODESSA — Jack Bell, 71, of Odessa passed away Sunday, April 14, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born June 29, 1930, in Bowie. Jack played basketball and football for Bowie High School in Bowie and went on to play football for Rice University. He moved to Odessa in 1956 from Fort Worth. He married
Juanita Moorman on Feb. 9, 1968, in Odessa. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a senior drilling foreman for Amoco Production for 33 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Shad Bell; brother, Ocie Bell of Bowie; and sisters, Velma Motley of Bowie and Ruby Jo Latham of Barstow, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Bell of Odessa; son, Danny Bell and wife Jamie of Houston; daughters, Diane Wolfenberger and husband Eric of Houston, Ann Roach and husband Steve Brock and Bobbi Pradon and husband Daniel, all of Odessa; six grandchildren, Nicole Wallace of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jarret Bell and Chance Bell, both of Houston, Jehra Haechten, Heather Roach and Kalym Haechten, all of Odessa; and a number of loving nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Harvey E. Carrell
ODESSA — The Rev. Harvey E. Carrell, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed peacefully from this life Sunday, April 14, 2002. Rev. Carrell was 95 years old and a resident of Odessa.
Rev. Carrell served our Lord and others as a United Methodist minister for many years. He was a minister in the New Mexico Conference for 38 years. He retired from the active ministry in Iraan in 1973. After his retirement, he continued his service by being a guest preacher in the Northwest Texas Conference.
He served two years during World War II as an Army chaplain while stationed in the European Theatre. He was involved in the landing at Normandy as well as the Battle of the Bulge.
Rev. Carrell touched many people’s lives and will be missed by many, young and old.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred Carrell; and son, James Harvey Carrell.
His survivors include his son, H.L. Carrell and spouse Patricia of Roslyn, Pa.; and two daughters, Katherine Barth of Gunbarrel City and Ann Carrell of Odessa. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Debbie Lamb and her husband Bill, Cherie Goodson and her husband Johnny, Mark Carrell and Lorita, Christie Applegate, Resa Bounds, Chris Carrell, Andrew Carrell and Tom Carrell and his wife Maria; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2002, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Bushart officiating. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Sandi E. Thomas
ODESSA — Sandi E. Thomas, 57, of Odessa passed away Sunday, April 14, 2002, at her residence. She was born Jan. 12, 1945, in Ringold, La., to Martin “Sherwood” and Doris Haughton.
Sandi came to Odessa in 1964 from Midland. She married
Jim Thomas on June 1, 1988, in Odessa. She enjoyed working on the computer, watching car racing, reading and fishing. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Her father, Sherwood; grandparents; and father-in-law, R.L. Thomas, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Thomas of Odessa; son, Cliff Garrett of Aransas Pass; daughter, Denise Headlee and husband Emmet of Odessa; mother, Doris Coe and husband A.J. of Midland; brothers, Ronnie Haughton of Corpus Christi and Lloyd Coe of Odessa; sisters, Sheri Sites of Taft and Joanna King of Midland; three grandchildren, Brandt Headlee, Emerald Headlee and Alec Headlee; a great-grandchild, Kaden Headlee; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Ray Brown officiating.

Harold W. Boatright
SAN ANGELO — Harold W. Boatright, 77, of San Angelo was called home to be with his Lord Wednesday, June 5, 2002.
He was born April 16, 1925, to Henry L. and Alta Boatright in San Angelo. He married
Helen Ruth Hill March 31, 1946, in San Angelo. He served his country in the Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Battleship Maryland for three years.
Harold and Helen lived in Temple and Odessa where they had a refrigeration service for over 30 years. They moved back to San Angelo in 1989.
Harold was a faithful member of Paul Ann Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors and had many hunting and fishing friends. He will be missed by them because he made each outing a memorable one.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald Boatright; and sister-in-law, Erma Boatright.
He survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Ruth of San Angelo; a sister, Ruby Hartman; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Thomas, both of San Angelo; two nieces; and four nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 7, 2002, at the Miles cemetery with Jeff Lynn officiating. Johnson’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth Gayoso
ODESSA — Kenneth Gayoso passed away from this life and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 5, 2002.
Kenneth was born Jan. 24, 1947, in Dallas to Don Gayoso and Ruth Brown. He moved to Odessa in 1969 and worked as a machinist for Allbright Machine Shop for 20 years. He worked for Kelly’s Tool Works for the last five years.
He married
Shirley Ruth Bosch on Dec. 30, 1982. He was a loving and faithful husband who adored his wife and family. He was blessed with two sons and a daughter-in-law. He was a wonderful father and friend.
Kenneth was a faithful member of Antioch Christian Church. He loved the Lord with all of his heart. Jesus Christ was the center of his life, and it showed in everything he did. He always had a smile on his face and something to say to make you laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ruth Gayoso of Odessa; his two sons, Kenneth Bryan Gayoso and Jason Robert Shedd; daughter-in-law, Jill Lynn Shedd; three brothers, Clyde Manuel Gayoso of Merkel, Donnie Dalehart Gayoso of Anna and Lester Ray Gayoso of Irving; Shirley Ann Johnston of Anna; and numerous aunts, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 7, 2002, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Antioch Christian Church with Don Fankhauser officiating.
