MONAHANS — Leola “Mitt” Eubank, 73, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at Ward Memorial Hospital in Monahans.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Bennett officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.
She was born in Swartz, La.
SURVIVORS: Brothers, Robert Eubank of Kermit, Doyle Eubank Jr. of Las Vegas and Russell Eubank of Monahans.

Angelita Garcia
MONAHANS — Angelita Garcia, 51, of Fort Stockton, a correction officer, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, in Monahans.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church with the Rev. John Lucido officiating. Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home.
She was born in Monahans. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Tilley Garcia of Fort Stockton and Jesse Garcia of Odessa; daughters, Connie Garcia and Olivia Garcia, both of Odessa, Aurora Garcia and Monica Garcia, both of Fort Stockton; mother, Aurora Acosta of Monahans; brothers, Frank Acosta of Andrews, Simon Acosta and Miguel Acosta, both of Monahans; sisters, Rosa Suarez of Monahans, Sandy Baker of Seattle and Connie Salazar of Denver; and six grandchildren.

Guerrero Olivas
STANTON — Guerrero “Gary” Olivas, 70, of Stanton, a retired construction worker, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel with the Rev. Ricardo Loredo officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Stanton Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel.
He was born in Parral, Mexico.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Salvador Olivas of Midland and Guerrero Olivas Jr. of Big Spring; daughters, Sylvia Armstrong and Nora Hernandez, both of Midland, Lisa Olivas and Sara Olivas, both of Big Spring, and Elizabeth Olivas of Stanton; mother, Maria De Jesus Olivas of Parral; sisters, Socorro Hernandez of Stanton, Paula Ramirez, Jesusita Olivas and Justa Castillo, all of Parral; brothers, Bernando Olivas, Fortino Olivas, Salvador Olivas, Gustavo Olivas and Mario Olivas, all of Parral; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Grace Rice
ANDREWS — Grace Lorena “Grammer” Rice, 93, of Andrews, a homemaker, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at Andrews Healthcare Center.
No services are scheduled. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in Hereford and moved to Andrews in 1997 from Odessa.
SURVIVORS: Granddaughters, Karen “Kacey” Caldemeyer of Odessa and Katherine “Kathy” Stewart of Andrews; and three great-grandchildren.

Betty Rowell
ODESSA — Betty Jo Rowell, 53, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at her residence.
Memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements by Memorial Services.
She was born in Jasper, Ala.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Paul D. Rowell Sr. of Odessa; daughters, Teresa Aguirre and Carolyn Knox, both of Odessa, and Rhonda Haynes of Munford, Ala.; sister, Nettie Oliver of Sylacauga, Ala.; and seven grandchildren.

Hortense Brock
ANDREWS — Hortense K. Brock, 87, of Andrews died Thursday, June 27, 2002, in Andrews.
Services are pending with McNett Funeral Home.

Melvin Clarence Robertson
ODESSA — Melvin Clarence Robertson, 81, of Odessa died Monday, March 25, 2002, after a long illness with Shy-Drager, a rare form of Parkinson’s Disease. He was born Oct. 16, 1920, in Vincent to Jesse and Mamie Creighton Robertson.
Melvin moved to Odessa in 1963. He was a retired petroleum engineer for Smith Tool Co. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the Army Corps of Engineers in India, Burma and China. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Robertson; sons, Jim K. Robertson and Ted E. Robertson, both of Burbank, Calif.; sister, Ruby Waite of Dumas; and granddaughter, Erica Lynne Robertson of Odessa.
A private memorial service was held March 27, 2002.

Verla Fern Lay
ODESSA — Verla Fern Lay, 80, passed away Friday, April 19, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born July 11, 1921, to Burley and Mable Holland in Maunie, Ill.
Verla was a lifetime resident of Odessa. She married Bill Lay in 1966, and was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church. She loved going to church and reading her Bible. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, making crafts, and being with her family.
There will be family visitation from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2002, at Foursquare Gospel Church with the Rev. Robert Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Deric Brunette, Bobby Stark, Rough Lamb, Dewayne Johnson, Ricky Davis, and Eddie Davis.
Her husband, Bill Lay, parents, Burley and Mable Holland, daughter, Beverly Ann Cox, two brothers, Robert and Dale Vincent Holland, and a grandson, David Shane Brunette all preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn Dale Cox and wife, Betty Jean of Denver, CO; and Jim Cox and wife, Linda, of Texarkana, TX; one daughter, Shirley Brunette and husband, David, of Odessa; and one sister, Maxine Hylton of Longview. Her grandchildren are Kim Stokes and husband, Daniel of Hagerstown, MD; Bobby Blitz and wife Paula of Aurora, CO; Phillip Cox and wife Sherry of Texarkana, TX; Glenda Ransiear and husband Jim; Rayann Kekona; and Jennifer Cox, all of Aurora, CO; Shaye Lamb and husband, Rough; Kenneth Brunette, Samantha Stark and husband Bobby; Deric Brunette and Cody Brunette, all of Odessa, Kelly Blitz of Aurora, CO; and Justin Blitz of Hagerstown, MD. Her great-grandchildren are Chris Lamb and wife Kimberly of Billings, MT; Eric Lamb and wife Shandi of Las Vegas, NV; Michael Blitz and wife Maria of Aurora, CO; Christie, Robbie and Catie Cox of Texarkana, TX; Joy Lamb, Hannah Lamb, and Hallie Stark all of Odessa. Her great-great-grandchildren are Christopher Kyle, Ryan Joseph, and Alyssa Mackenzie. She has numerous nieces and nephews, and brothers and sisters in the Lord, too many to count.
Memorials may be donated to Foursquare Gospel Church in her memory.
Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Georgia Cloud
ODESSA — Georgia Cloud, 86, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. E. J. Miller officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Petersburg cemetery in Kerene. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in Hempstead. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Son, Rev. William E. Bradford of Dallas; daughters, Dorothy R. Hall of Odessa and Laura D. Hunter of Dallas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Viola Porras
ODESSA — Viola V. Porras, 72, of Odessa died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Hospice House.
Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Alpine. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Son, Fermin V. Ramirez of Odessa; daughters, Raley V. Gonzales and Norma L. Paredes, both of Odessa; brothers, David Valenzuela, Ruben Valenzuela, Juan Valenzuela and Jesse Valenzuela, all of Odessa; sisters, Sylvia V. Jimenez of Odessa and Catalina V. Salas of Marathon; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Claud Stuard
IRAAN — Claud Stuard, 86, of Iraan, a retired Chevron Oil Co. employee, died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Crane Memorial Hospital in Crane.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Iraan Christian Church. Burial will follow at Restland cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home/Iraan Chapel.
He was born in Ranger and had lived in Iraan since 1947. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Christian.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Marjorie Archer of Iraan; sons, Ron Stuard of Sheffield and Joe Stuard of Dierks, Ark; sister, Imogene Lain of Artesia, N.M.; and six grandchildren.

Cleo Carr
MONAHANS — Cleo Carr, 77, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
No services will be held. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.
She was born in Robert Lee. She was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Bob Carr of Monahans; son, Bobby Carr of Austin; daughter, Wanda Cates of Austin; brother, T.C. McCutchen Jr. of Robert Lee; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

James Lingle
ODESSA — James Meredith “Jim” Lingle, 80, of Odessa, an oilfield yard superintendent, died Thursday, March 28, 2002.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Burt Groves officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Texline.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Jesse Ray Lingle, Russell Meredith Lingle and Bruce Milton Lingle, all of Odessa; daughters, Beverly Kay Saunders and Rebecca Lynn Lingle Harris, both of Odessa; sister, Juanita Saunders of Gladstone, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Lois Moncrief
KERMIT — Lois Elizabeth Moncrief, 79, of Kermit died Friday, March 29, 2002, at the Kermit Healthcare Center in Kermit.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at The Church of God in Kermit with the Rev. Eddie Cotton officiating. Burial will follow in Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel in Kermit.
She was born in Tallapoosa County, Ala.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Michael Elvin Barron of Kermit, Winiford Leon Barron of Hawthorne, Fla.; daughters, Mary Lois Still of Alexander City, Ala., and Darlene Lambreth of Sylacauga, Ala.; brother, Joe Burdette of Opilaka, Ala.; sister, Corrine Spikes of Kermit; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Alberto Carnero Sanchez
FORT STOCKTON — Alberto Carnero Sanchez, 92, of Fort Stockton, a retired laborer, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Services will be at 10 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Stockton. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at Fort Stockton Catholic cemetery.
He was born in Ojinaga, Mexico.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Oscar Sanchez, Alfredo Sanchez, and Daniel Sanchez, all of Fort Stockton; daughters, Margarita Elva Sifuentes of Fort Stockton, and Maria De Jesus Samaniego of Presidio; sisters, Maria De Jesus Carnero Rey of Fort Stockton and Lucia Burrola of Mexico; 29 grandchildren; and 87 great-grandchildren.
