Nola Kay Watson Watters

Odessa - Nola Kay Watson Watters, 67, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at Buena Vida Nursing Center here in Odessa. She was born March 6, 1939 in Jacksonville, Tx. She was a member of First Baptist Church and retired as Vice President from Western National Bank.
She is survived by sons, Jimmy Watters & wife Julia, Kimmy Watters and wife Jan of Odessa; brother, Nolan Watson Jr. of Cache, Okla.; a dear and special friend Vianna Gale Loving of Odessa; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today Saturday February 17, 2007 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2007 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a family gathering to visit with friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Odessa Funeral Home.
Chapel services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2007, at Odessa Funeral Home with Reverend Byron McWilliams officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Frank Floyd

MONAHANS - Frank Floyd, age 72, of Monahans passed away Friday, February 16, 2007 at his home in Monahans.
He was born February 16, 1935 in Roby, Texas. He was a retired Superintendent for El Paso Natural Gas. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2007 at Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Craig Rhoten officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Services are under the direction of Harkey Family Funeral Services.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Floyd of Monahans; 1 son, Lovelle Floyd and wife Sherryl of Monahans; 1 daughter, Terri Hammond and husband Jimmy of Monahans; 2 brothers, Roy Joe Floyd of Odessa and Wesley Floyd of Malakoff; 4 granddaughters, Laura Crouch, Crystalin Muniz, Nichole Thomas, and Brenna Kidd; 2 great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Grandfalls. He was also a member of the Grandfalls Masonic Lodge #895 and the Grandfalls Order of the Eastern Star.

Ruby L. Bivins

Odessa - Ruby L. Bivins, 77, of Odessa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 17, 2007. She was born on February 1, 1930, in Oklahoma. She married and moved to Monahans, Texas where she lived for 53 years. She was employed by Ward County ISD for 17 years before retiring.
She is survived by 5 loving children, daughter, Carolyn Miller and husband Edward of Odessa, TX; son, Ronnie Bivins and wife Donna of Gardendale, TX; daughter, Sue Jones and husband Larry of Missouri City, TX; daughter, Debbie Curry and husband Glen of Odessa, TX; son, Danny Bivins and wife Betty of Gardendale, TX. She has 13 loving grandchildren, Steve Miller, Laura Miller, Tina Robison, Donnie Bivins, David Hix, Amy Stillwell, Nicky Bivins, Jennifer Dean, Tonya Taylor, Stephanie Bivins, Daniel Bivins, Mark Bivins and Kevin Curry. She also has 10 great-grandchildren and loved by many brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Storz officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Ruby E. Brown

Odessa - Ruby E. Brown, age 93, a longtime Odessa resident, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Hospice House. She had struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease for approximately the last four years. Prior to that, she had enjoyed her retirement, having retired in 1978 from S&H Green Stamp store where she had worked for 24 years.
She was an active member of the Eisenhower Church of Christ before her illness. Ruby was born June 2, 1913, in Booneville, Arkansas. She married James Hubert Brown in November 1929. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Roy Brown and Bill Brown.
Survivors are: sons, Roy Brown and wife, Hazel, and Bill Brown and wife, Darlene; grandchildren, Jim Brown & wife, Debbie of Hobbs, N.M., Teresa Ingram of San Antonio, Steve Brown of Odessa and Debra Williams and husband Phillip of Evanston, WY; 11 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors on Monday, February 19, 2007, at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at Eisenhower Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.
Pallbearers will be Jim Brown, Kirk Brown, Daniel Brown, Steve Brown and Phillip Williams.
Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Verna Hare

Elida, NM - Graveside services for Verna Hare, 85, of Odessa will be at 10:30 AM (MST), Tues., Feb. 18, 2007, in the Elida cemetery, Elida, NM. Rev. Ivy Shelton of Odessa will officiate. Cody Hare, Preston Hare, Chris Martin, Kevin Martin, Gerry Brem, Benny Medcalf, Jeremy Byington and Earl Brumley will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Home Hospice House, 903 N. Sam Houston, Odessa, TX 79761.
Mrs. Hare was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Elida, N.M., to the home of Dora and Stephen R. Thurman, and died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2007 in Odessa, TX. She grew up in Elida, and was married to Floyd Hare on Dec. 19, 1940. They lived in the Elida area until 1951 when they moved to Odessa. She was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church. Verna was an accomplished seamstress, and made virtually all of her children’s clothes. In later years she enjoyed quilting and crocheting as well as making ceramics and other crafts.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles R. and Vivian Hare of Royse City, TX; her 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Velta Case of Irving, TX and Elaine and A.P. Martin of Odessa, TX; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Norma Creighton of Tucumcari, N.M. and Lavon Webb of Portales. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, Floyd, who died Oct. 16, 2003 after almost 63 years of marriage.
Services are under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary in Portales, NM, (505) 356-4455.

Edith M. Bowman

San Angelo - Edith M. Bowman, 87, of San Angelo, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2007, in a local nursing home.
Family visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2007, at the Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2007, at the Imperial cemetery in Imperial, Texas. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Edith was born September 28, 1919, in Big Spring, Texas, to Gay and Hessie Hartman. Edith’s unfaltering faith in God is what defined her and carried her through life’s challenges. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Leslie for thirty-seven years. Together they were vital community servants. She showed enormous love for her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her greatest enjoyment and pride. Edith will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Leslie Graham Bowman.
She is survived by daughters Gayle Bowman of San Angelo, Maurine Boyd and husband Gary of Midland, Texas and Peggy Eubank and husband Jim of San Angelo, Texas; son Graham Bowman and wife, Tara of Fort Stockton, Texas; and grandchildren Justin Boyd, Dillon Boyd, Leslie Watkins, Courtney Bowman, Josh Eubank, Rachael Eubank and Blake Bowman.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the administration and staff at Sagecrest Alzheimers Care Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Sagecrest Alzheimers Care Center, 438 Houston Harte Expressway, San Angelo, Texas 76901.

Albert Lewis Franzoy Jr.

Odessa - Albert Lewis Franzoy Jr., 78, of Odessa, passed away Monday, February 19, 2007, at Alliance Hospital. He was born June 9, 1928, in Salem, N.M. He married Alta Runyan May 15, 1948, in Hatch, N.M. He moved to Odessa in 1959 from Hatch, N.M. He was a retired superintendent for Saulcon Construction, he had worked there since 1983. He loved to play golf.
He is survived by his wife Alta Franzoy of Odessa; son, Michael Lewis Franzoy and wife Virginia of Spring, TX; daughters, Barbara Pergi of Las Vegas, NV, Pat Burdic of Monahans and Debbie Franzoy of Las Vegas, NV; brothers, Stanley Franzoy of Arrey, N.M., and James Franzoy of Hatch, N.M.; sisters, Katherine Short of Albuquerque, N.M. and Edith Boggs of Oregon; (7) grandchildren, Jeffrey Burdic, Travis and Trey Franzoy, Tyler and Chance Mullins, Tracie Donewar and Lisa Pergi; and (7) great-grandchildren, Joey and Katie Burdic, Seth, Nathan, Colton, Savannah, and Cade Franzoy.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2007, at Sherwood Church of Christ with Barry Galindo officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Antonio San Miguel

Odessa - Antonio San Miguel, 85, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at his residence. He was born September 2, 1921, in Agualeguas, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Juan San Miguel and Juanita Salinas. He was a laborer and a Catholic.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dominga San Miguel; parents, Juan and Juanita San Miguel; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his sons, Ovidio and wife Leonarda San Miguel of Duncanville, Luis and wife Amparo San Miguel, Rolando and wife Marcelina San Miguel, Juan and wife Irma San Miguel, and Nicolas and wife Graciela San Miguel, all of Odessa; daughters, Norma and husband Joe Cervantes, Guillerma and husband Jose Luis Reyna, both of Odessa; 19 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tonight, February 22, 2007, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday February 23, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Joseph Uecker. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.

Jack Kelland Dorman

Odessa - Jack Kelland Dorman, age 80, passed from this life to his eternal life on Monday, Feb. 19th, 2007. Jack was born June 20th, 1926, in Denison, Texas. He married Joye McHorse on Dec. 19, 1948. They were married for 41 years before Joye’s untimely death in 1989.
He is survived by 3 children, Jack Dorman Jr. and wife Debbie of Austin, Texas, Janice Northcutt and husband, James of Odessa, Texas, and John Dorman and wife Terri of Austin, Texas. He has 5 grandchildren, Janda Northcutt, Ike Northcutt, Jeffrey Dorman, Dana Dorman and Joshua Dorman. He has one great-grandson, Jaedon Northcutt.
Jack began as an elementary teacher for the Wink School District in August of 1949 and subsequently became the elementary principal and served for 35 years, loving many children and families through the years.
Friends are invited to a time of visitation on Thursday evening, Feb. 22nd from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, 601 N. Alleghaney, Odessa, Texas. The funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 744 Jeffee Drive in Kermit at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23rd. Burial will follow at Kermit Memorial cemetery.
We, his children, are overwhelmed with great gratitude to God for our Dad, for his great love, kindness and Godly life lived before us. We will miss you, Dad, but we know you are finally home and we will see you again someday.

Mona Avent Watkins

Midland - Mona Avent Watkins, 90, of Midland, died on Monday, February 19, 2007, in Midland, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2007, at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home Chapel, 3800 North Big Spring Street in Midland, with Rev. Curtis Brewer of Odessa officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Crane cemetery in Crane with Rev. Tommy Parker of Crane officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Watkins, Justin Watkins, Douglas Williams, Tim Jetton, and Derek McFarland.
She was born on April 14, 1916, in Runnells County, Texas to Grover Cleveland Avent and Eva Lucinda Brister Avent. She attended school in Crews, Texas and graduated from Talpa High School. She married Arnold Watkins on June 19, 1936, in Talpa, Texas. She moved to Crane in 1944 from Hobbs, New Mexico. She worked for many years for the Crane School District as a pastry cook. She served as an election clerk for Crane local elections. She moved to Odessa in 1998 and then to Midland in 2006.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Crane. She was preceded in death by her husband: Arnold Watkins in 2006; her daughter: Ruedell Collins in 2005; brother: Eldon Avent; and 2 sisters: Vena Todd and Ozella Stacy.
Survivors include granddaughter, Cheryl Watkins and husband David of Midland; grandson, Jerry Collins and wife Donna of Mansfield; granddaughter, Ronda Williams and husband Doug of DeQueen, Arkansas; great-granddaughter, Michelle Jetton and husband Tim of Marfa; great-grandson, Jacob Watkins and wife Kimberly of Odessa; great-granddaughter, Stacy McFarland and husband Derek of Austin; great-grandson, Justin Watkins and wife Becky of Midland; and great-grandson, Douglas Williams of Russellville, Arkansas; great-great-grandchildren, Kain Oliver, Cougar Jetton, Garrett Watkins, Alli Watkins, and Avree McFarland; son in law, Earl C. Collins of Durant, Oklahoma; 2 sisters in law, Adelaide Nalley of Midlothian and Leona Watkins of Odessa.
Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church, c/o TV Ministry, 700 North Lee Avenue, Odessa, Texas 79761.
Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home of Midland.

Jack W. Patton

Odessa - Jack W. Patton, 87, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at the Lubbock Hospitality House in Lubbock. He was born October 20, 1919, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He was a retired furniture salesman.
He is survived by his son, Steve Patton of Odessa; daughter, Jan Lair of Lubbock; brother, Jim Patton of Odessa; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2007, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2007, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kyle Rogers officiating.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
