PALMER – Funeral services for Dixie L. Cave, 86, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001 in the Keever Chapel with Rev. Ray Lanham of the Garland First United Methodist Church officiating.
Born on Sept. 26, 1914 in Palmer, the daughter of Robert R. and Mary G. Kelly Graves, she passed away Feb. 23, 2001 in the Baylor Medical Center in Garland.
Preceded in death by her son Billy Mac Cave on Aug. 7, 1992; she is survived by son and his wife Bobby and Teresa Cave of Garland; daughter and husband Nancy and David Payne of Garland; two sisters Kathryn Clopton of Rockett and Nell Sawyer of Abilene; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Paul Payne, Matthew Cave, Charley Graves, Kelly Payne and Tom Sawyer.
Interment followed in the Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.
Bertha Lee Dawson

WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for Bertha Lee Dawson, of Arlington (formerly of Waxahachie), were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001 at the Waxahachie Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. L.W. Dollar officiating.
Born on Sept. 20, 1904 in Waxahachie, the daughter of Terrell and Lula Bera Stanton, she passed away Feb. 27, 2001 at Dalworth Nursing Center in Arlington.
She is survived by three sisters Lois Wagner and her husband Jim of Waxahachie, Betty Gauntt of Arlington and Jackie Musgraves.
Interment followed in the Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home.
Herman D. Layton
Aug. 1, 1897 – Feb. 23, 2001
ENNIS – Funeral services for Herman D. Layton, 103, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001 in the Myrtle Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Dick Moody officiating.
Born on Aug. 1, 1897 in Reagor Springs, the son of Jeff and Matilda Lewis Layton, he passed away Feb. 23, 2001 at the Ennis Regional Medical Center.
Preceded in death by three brothers Marvin Layton, Lewis Layton and Boyd Layton; he is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Interment followed in the Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.
William Hollis McCrady

WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for William Hollis McCrady, 90 of Waxahachie, were held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2001 in the chapel of Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Hastings officiating.
Born on June 9, 1910 in Boz, the son of William James and Willie Ann McCrady, he passed away Feb. 27, 2001 at his residence.
Preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister; he is survived by his wife of 71 years Isabel McCrady of Waxahachie; two sons Kenneth McCrady of Ennis and Dr. William (Bill) McCrady of Keene; four grandsons Dr. Michael McCrady of Henderson, Kenneth Allen McCrady Jr. of Ennis, Dr. Bob McCrady of Kansas City, Kan. and Tom McCrady of Cleburne; three granddaughters Kim Dean of Houston, Dr. Kay Lynn Hastings of Houston and Laurel Walker of Keene; great-grandchildren Katie McCrady, Kerry Fritzsche, Andy McCrady, Korey McCrady, Patrick McCrady, Kolby McCrady, Mary Beth Dean, Kimberleigh Dean, Madison Hastings, Cassie McCrady, Cory McCrady and Hannah Dean.
Pallbearers were Kenneth A. McCrady Jr., Dr. Mike McCrady, Dr. Bob McCrady, Tom McCrady, Jimmie Dean and John McDuffie.
Entombment followed in the Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
Irvin W. Medford

WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for Irvin W. Medford, of Waxahachie, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2001 at the First United Methodist Church.
Born on Sept. 7, 1912 in Johnson County, the son of Jack and Genie (Christian) Medford, he passed away March 2, 2001 at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie.
Preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother; he is survived by his wife Alice of 65 years; two daughters Beverly Mason and her husband Pete of Tyler and Karen Wurtz and her husband James of Marysville, Kan.; five grandchildren Blaine Mason and wife Stacie, Maura Mason, Jeremy Boyd, Kristin Boyd and Jenny Boyd; great-granddaughter Catherine Mason and sister-in-law Mary Medford.
Ushers were W.C. Estes, James Lewis and Vernon Roper.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church New Life Center in memory of Irvin W. Medford.
Graveside services were kept private for immediate family members only under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
Elvira Ross

ENNIS – Graveside services for Elvira Ross, 60, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001 in St. Josephs Cemetery with Deacon Dean Darnall officiating.
Born on Jan. 25, 1941 in Robstown, the daughter of Senon and Louise Herrera Zapata, she passed away Feb. 23, 2001 at the Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana.
Preceded in death by a daughter Mary Jane Lugo and husband James Ross; she is survived by seven sons Michael Ross, James Ross Jr., Ricky Ross and Mario Ross all of Ennis, Joe Ross of Rice, Carlos Ross of Lincoln, Neb. and John Ross of Lubbock; six daughters Josephine Ovalle, Rosa Morales, Lauri Ann Ross and Susie Reyes all of Ennis, Pauline Deopere of Wichita Falls and Angie Derringer of Dallas; 41 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Alex DeLuna, Nicholas Reyes, Radames Ross, Orlando Ovalle, Martin Ovalle and Steven Caballero.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis.
Sam Styles Jr.

LANCASTER – Funeral services for Sam Styles Jr., 71 of Lancaster, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001 in the Red Oak Funeral Home Chapel with Rupert Robins officiating.
Born on July 6, 1929 in Italy, the son of Sam Sr. and Lula Embrey Styles, he passed away Feb. 28, 2001 in Dallas.
He is survived by his wife Billie Styles of Lancaster; son Steven Styles of Waxahachie; daughter Terry Latham of Red Oak; sisters Edna Allen of Crosby and Bennie Davison of Lancaster and five grandchildren.
Interment followed in the Forreston Cemetery under the direction of Red Oak Funeral Home, Berdon Byrum.
