Born on Dec. 22, 1925 in Richland, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Prater, he passed away March 3, 2001 in Red Oak.
Preceded in death by his parents and daughter Gwynne Prater; he is survived by his wife Dorothy Prater of Red Oak; son Harold Loyd Prater Jr. of Duncanville; daughters Charlsye Holley of Arlington and Renee Sandefer of Colorado; and 10 grandchildren.
Interment followed in the Waxahachie Cemetery under the direction Red Oak Funeral Home, Berdon Byrum.
Matthew D. Tidwell
Aug. 22, 1983 – March 7, 2001
ENNIS – Funeral services for Matthew D. Tidwell, 17 of Ennis, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Keever Chapel.
Born on Aug. 22, 1983 in Denton, the son of Leslie and Sheila Dixon Tidwell, he passed away March 7, 2001 at his home.
Preceded in death by a grandmother Jane Dixon; he is survived by his parents of Ennis; three sisters Andrea Thompson of Wylie, Tiffany Tidwell of Denton and Christy Tidwell of Ennis; grandparents Howard and Bobbie Tidwell, Wayne and Pauline Dixon all of Ennis; and nephew Cody Thompson.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.
Jerry Lee Torrez

WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for Jerry Lee Torrez, 39, were held at 6 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2001 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel with Deacon Denis Corbin officiating.
Born on Dec. 28, 1961 in Dallas, the son of Thomas and Lupe Richardson, he passed away March 7, 2001 in Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
He is survived by his parents of Waxahachie; son Jonathan Torrez of Dallas; two brothers George Torrez of Dallas and Luis Torrez of Grand Prairie; two stepbrothers Clinton Douglas and Christopher Richardson both of Mesquite; sister Maria Gomez and stepsister Regina Fox of Rockwall.

William Douglas “Bill” Welch

Born on Sept. 21, 1949 in Ft. Sam Houston, Bexar Co., Texas, the son of William Henry and Elizabeth (Mixon) Welch, he passed away March 5, 2001.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother Glenn Vaughn; he is survived by his wife Sarah; their daughter Rose Elizabeth both of Ennis; two brothers Jefferson Vaughn, his twin Wallace Welch and wife Linda all of Dallas; two sisters Judy Rockovich and her husband Matt of Portland and Gersey and her husband Dr. Williams Lammers of San Antonio; and mother-in-law Patsy Patton of Waxahachie.

Walter Lee “W.L.” West

ENNIS – Funeral services for Walter Lee “W.L.” West, 69 of Ennis, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2001 at the Farley Street Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Isaacs and Rev. Danny Pope officiating.
Born on March 5, 1932 in Dallas County, the son of Walter Lee Sr. and Minnie Brazoria (Yates) West, he passed away March 11, 2001 at his residence.
Preceded in death by his parents; he is survived by his wife Dura West of Ennis; three sons and their wives Mr. and Mrs. Skip West of Flowery Branch, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Randy West of Morton and Mr. and Mrs. Kevin West of Gardenville; two daughters and their husbands Mr. and Mrs. Steve Leonard of Garland and Mr. and Mrs. Jason Dahlin of Arlington; sister Judy Kelley of Coppell; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were James Henry, Keith Hughes, Deryl Lee, Leon Lee, Jimmy Webb and James Woodard.

Preceded in death by his parents, son and two brothers; he is survived by his wife Lottie Mae Callendar of Cumby; two sons Victor Wayne Callendar Jr. and wife Billie of Cumby and Jimmy Ray Callendar of Houston; four daughters Sharon McClendon of Saginaw, Pat Henley and husband Don of Waxahachie, Shirley Parker and husband Roger of Seattle and Brenda Jean of Mansfield; sister Anitta Voyles of Davis, Okla.; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Interment followed in the Mt. Peak Cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Born on Nov. 29, 1950 in Ennis, the son of Bobby R. and Martha Dodson Carpenter, he passed away March 14, 2001 in Garrett.
He is survived by two sons Gregory L. Carpenter of Waco and Joshua Carpenter; daughter Hillary A. Carpenter of Dallas; mother and step-father Martha and J.L. Lewis of Ennis; sister and her husband Lisa and Bill Wolaver of Ennis; nephew Andrew Wolaver of Ennis; and two nieces Hannah and Bethany Wolaver of Ennis.
