ENNIS Funeral services for Argie Raney, 85 of Ennis, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2001 in the Keever Chapel with Bro. Chuck Barber and Edwin Lipsey officiating.
Born on Sept. 6, 1915 in Bardwell, the son of Aaron and Carrie Bates Raney, he passed away May 5, 2001 at his home.
Preceded in death by five brothers Troy, Raymond, Joe, Shelby and Glen and sister Alta Shelton; he is survived by his wife Orine of Ennis; four sons and their wives Delbert and Terry Raney, Jimmy and Lois Raney, Winston and Barbara Raney all of Ennis, Ray and Janette Raney of Rice; four daughters Bobbie Cheek of Rice, Darleen Richardson of Ennis, Alice and her husband Roy Lewis, Nelda and her husband Jimmy Lewis all of Ennis; 29 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother Grover Raney of Corsicana and three sisters Helen Thornhill of Dallas, Mary Stovall of Georgetown and Ethel Stovall of Dallas.
Pallbearers were Roy Lewis Jr., Jason Raney, Randy Raney, Paul Richardson, Mitchell Raney, Leslie Lewis, Mark Cheek and Jack Cheek. Honorary pallbearers were L.D. Patterson.
Interment followed in the Elm Branch Cemetery in Bardwell under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

She is survived by her father and his wife Ramon and Evelyn Starek of Ennis; mother Patricia Eve Starek of Ennis; son Joshua Ray Ryan of Ennis; daughter Natasha Eve Ryan of Ennis; sister and husband Tami and David Carpenter of Ennis; grandchild Austin Ray Ryan; uncle and his wife Clem and Lillie Braley of Duncanville and niece Taran Castillo of Ennis.

Preceded in death by his parents, son Tommy Phillips, brother Ernest Phillips and sister Ruby Phillips Parker; he is survived by his wife Mary M. Phillips of Ferris; daughter and son-in-law Deana Ransom and Jay of Meridan; sons and daughters-in-law Tony Ferguson and Valarie of Duncanville and Darrell Ferguson and Sherry of Forney; and sisters Billie Jo Voss of Ft. Worth and Wanda Prestridge of Mesquite; and brothers Gene Phillips of Hansford, Calif., Nolan Phillips of San Jose, Calif. and Steve Phillips of Fayetteville, Ark.
