WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for Charles Ray Jordan, 71 of Waxahachie, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001 at College Street Church of Christ with Walter Buchanan officiating.
Born on Aug. 6, 1929 in Waxahachie, the son of N.B. and Lucie (Crawford) Jordan, he passed away Feb. 3, 2001 at Baylor Hospital in Waxahachie.
Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Stanley “Corky” Jordan and Roger Jordan, two sisters Mary Ann Segars and Bettye Sanders and nephew Steve Morris; he is survived by son Charles David Jordan of San Antonio; brother N.B. “Buck” Jordan and wife Jane of Waxahachie; two grandchildren Lindsey and Michelle; nieces and nephews Brent and Denna Morris, Kim and Doug Utter, Nick and Renee Jordan, Jeff and Kari Jordan and Joni Jordan Mitchell.
Pallbearers were Calvin Burks, Johnny Burks, Jeff Jordan, Nick Jordan, Brent Morris and Douglas Utter.
Memorials may be made to the College Street Church of Christ Building Fund.
Interment followed in the Hillcrest Burial Park under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
Anita Blake Ross

DALLAS – Graveside services for Anita Blake Ross, 84 of Dallas, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dallas with Father Henry Fullerton officiating.
Born on March 2, 1916 in Dallas, the daughter of Samuel R. Blake and Anita Bondes Blake, she passed away Jan. 29, 2001 in Dallas.
She is survives by one brother Samuel Blake of Terrell and a nephew Marvin Blake of Ovilla.
Ora Mae Smith
Nov. 17, 1914 – Feb. 4, 2001
WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for Ora Mae Smith, 86 of Waxahachie, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel.
Born on Nov. 17, 1914 in Denton County, she passed away Feb. 4, 2001 at her residence.
Preceded in death by her husband in 1959, infant brother John Franklin Jennings, brother Clarence Jennings, two sisters Ruby Peugh and Faye Oliver; she is survived by her daughter Linda Fisher and husband Lawrence; son Tony and wife Jan all of Waxahachie; three sisters Lorena Riddle of Tahoka, Weir Keller of Alvarado and Lenora Crumpton of Waxahachie; seven grandchildren Vicki Miller, Robert Smith, Lisa Fisher, Debbie White, Kevin Lightfoot and Leslie Lightfoot; 11 great-grandchildren and special friends Mike and Linda Fabion and their daughter Christina.
Pallbearers were Mike Colston, Lanny Daniels, Donnie Fisher, Joey Lanue, Kevin Lightfoot and Marcus Miller.
Interment followed in the Waxahachie City Cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
Mildred Turner

WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for Mildred Turner, 83, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel with Rev. Merwin Key Turner, Dr. Richard Reed and Rev. Bobby Reynolds officiating.
Born on May 19, 1917 in Waxahachie, the daughter of William and Pearl (Taylor) Bevers, she passed away Jan. 31, 2001 at her residence.
Preceded in death by her parents and husband; she is survived by two sons Mike Turner and wife Brenda, and Phil Turner and wife Cheryl both of Waxahachie; three grandchildren Jeff and Greta Turner and Suzanne Laviolette; and one great-grandchild Reed Laviolette.
Pallbearers were Vernon Roper, Bill Pitts, Melvin Loveless, Jack Kelley, Jack O’Bannion and James Lewis. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Fidelis Class.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Waxahachie in memory of Mildred Turner.
Interment followed in the Waxahachie City Cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
James Edwin Brown

Born on July 31, 1936 in Birome, the son of Harry Victor and Etta Mozelle (Sartor) Brown, he passed away Feb. 7, 2001 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife Annette (Anderson) Brown of Milford; four daughters Daphne Diane Hajovsky and husband Randy of Midlothian, Melissa Deon Brown of Waxahachie, Jamette (Jamie) D’An Cohen and husband Scott of San Antonio and Cassandra Delane Marek and husband David of Hewitt; brother Henry Vic Brown and wife Carolyn of Bosqueville; two sisters Barbara Etta Brown Suratt and husband Weldom of Watauga and Janet Brown Delapi and husband Tony of Birome; foster daughter Karen Manning Stevens and husband Daivd and their two sons Hunter and Eric of Orange; and seven grandchildren Kevin and Matt Hajovsky, Daniel and Samantha Cohen, Brenna and Johnathan Stansell and Katherine Marek.
Pallbearers were Mike McGinnis, Dee Heidelberg, William Kyle, David Hill, Rick Hendry and Johnnie Youngblood. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Paroski, Steve Moore, Perry Moore, Bruce Carlson, L.C. Williams, Cliff Strange and Mackie Mize.

Born on Jan. 31, 1959 in Nocupetare, Michuacan, Mexico, the daughter of Lamberto and Epiphania Zarco Avila, she passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001 at the Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
She is survived by her husband Antonio of Ennis; four sons Gerardo Chavez, Adrian Chavez, Candelario Chavez and Antonio Chavez Jr. all of Ennis; parents of Mexico; three brothers Salvador Avila, Nabor Avila and Ignacio Avila; five sisters Reyna Avila, Margarita Garcia, Lucia Avila, Maria Gamieo and Mariabad Avila; and grandparents Juan Zarco and Teofila Zarco of Mexico.
Pallbearers were Antonio Chavez Sr., Gerardo Chavez, Adrian Chavez, Juan Chavez, Juan Arreola and Andres Arreola.
Interment followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.
Leonard S. Claunch Sr.

Born on July 17, 1925 in Maypearl, the son of John Parks and Madge (Corbin) Claunch, he passed away Feb. 8, 2001 at Medical Center in Arlington.
Preceded in death by his parents and four brothers; he is survived by two sons Leonard S. Claunch Jr. and wife Ann of Duncanville and John Loyd Claunch of Cedar Hill; daughter Cindy Muhr and husband Bill of Mansfield; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Interment followed in the Maypearl Cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
