Eugene Allan Craig, age 78 of Santa Fe, Texas passed away Friday, October 08, 2004, at his residence.
Eugene was born on December 13, 1925, in Crosby, Texas and was a resident of Santa Fe for 32 years, formerly of Alvin. He was self-employed and was a member of the Christian faith. Eugene served in the United States Army during World War II.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Chester & Pearl Craig & brother, Chester Craig, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Teressa Craig, of Santa Fe, Texas; daughters and sons in law, Kathryn and Joel Evans, Eileen and John Windham, both of Santa Fe, Texas and Peggy Allen, of Clear Lake, Texas; son and daughter in law, Owen and Wanda Craig, of Danbury, Texas; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, October 10, 2004, at Scott Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 11, 2004, at Scott Funeral Chapel. Mary Jo Lockhardt
Mary Jo Lockhardt, 79, of La Marque, passed away Friday, October 8, 2004, at Mainland Medical Center, in Texas City, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 7, 1925, in Corsicana, Texas, to Jewel and Joe Lassiter.
She was a lifetime resident of La Marque and a teacher for over thirty years. She was a member of the Epsilon Segma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, and served as president and recording secretary. She was very dedicated to the education of elementary students. She had been a member of the American Business Women Association, La Marque Pilot Club, Drag Boat and Ski Club of Houston and member of Mainland Elk Lodge #2141.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John William Lockhardt, of fifty- six years and her only child, Norman Eaker Lockhardt.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Diane Pavlu Lockhardt, of Santa Fe; sister, Bettye Martin and husband, Zeke, of Denton; two grandchildren, Steven Lockhardt and wife, Heather, of League City and Melissa Williams and husband, Johnny, of Santa Fe; five great-grandchildren, Cheryl Lee, Blake Williams, Kristina Williams, Justin Williams and Rylee Lockhardt; niece, Jeanie Jones, of Galveston and nephews, Gary Martin, of Denton and Steve Martin, of Argyle and many loving friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, October 11, 2004, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the James Crowder Funeral Home, in La Marque. Funeral service will at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 12, 2004, in the chapel of the funeral home, with Rev. Bobby Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale, in Houston.
Pallbearers will be Brad Holcomb, Dan Holcomb, Adam McCombs, Mark McCombs, Gary Martin and Steve Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hayley, Randy Holcomb, Joe Smith, David Decker, Jerome McCombs and Dennis Smith.

Robert Louis Shifflett
Robert Louis Shifflett, 79, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2004, at Woodland Heights Hospital, in Lufkin, Texas.
Mr. Shifflett was born July 17, 1925, in Bristow, Oklahoma, to Edgar and Mary Shifflett. He was a resident of Livingston, Texas for 17 years, and formerly of Texas City for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the US Navy and a member of Local 527 Electrical of Galveston.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack Shifflett; and his sister, Louise McDougle.
Mr. Shifflett is survived by his wife, Opal Shifflett, of Livingston, Texas; his sister, Irene Crisp and her husband, R.L., of Santa Fe, Texas; four brothers, Charles Shifflett and his wife, Joyce, of Texas City, Texas, Glen Shifflett and his wife, Irene, of Santa Fe, Texas, John D. Shifflett and his wife, Vicki, of Santa Fe, Texas, and Jerry Don Shifflett and his wife, Sue, of Santa Fe, Texas.
A visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, October 10, 2004, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, Texas. Funeral service will be Monday, October 11, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Bonnie Eaves officiating. Internment will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas.
Pallbearers are Larry Roberts, Steve Landriault, Aaron Shifflett, Will Goff, Rodney Crisp and Gary Crisp. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Mills, Sr., James Avant, Pat Barnhill and Ray Landriault.
Eugene "Gene" Charles Rembe
DICKINSON — Eugene "Gene" Charles Rembe, 76, the son of Ernest Verne and Jennie Pearl Geister Rembe, was born May 8, 1928, in the small rural town of Primghar, Iowa. He died Thursday, October 7, 2004, at Manor Care in Webster, Texas.
Gene attended school in Primghar, graduating from Primghar High School with the Class of 1946. He received his Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Physical Therapy from the State University of Iowa in Iowa City. He was a professor of physical therapy at SUI in Iowa City, before relocating to Dickinson in the 1970s. He was a professor of physical therapy, serving as the department head, at UTMB’s School of Allied Health Sciences in Galveston until his retirement and the author of the book, "Physical Therapy Examination Review."
On June 3, 1951, he married
Sarah "Sally" Ellen Shaffer in Iowa City, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Thomas, Susan and Jane.
Gene served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict, receiving a Purple Heart. He was a proud and loyal patriot, who lived the "American Dream."
In retirement, Gene spent much of his time volunteering at the Gateway Visitors Center in La Marque, served on the Senior Advisory Council of Compass and on many local election boards in Dickinson. He was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Dickinson. With family so far away, he treasured his church family and local friendships. In his spare time, he loved vegetable and flower gardening plus landscaping in his yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Sally who passed away June 17, 1986, and his brother, David.
Survivors include son, Thomas Rembe and wife, Sherry of Seymour, Iowa; daughters, Susan Rembe of Dickinson; and Jane Seffel and husband, Gary of Montgomery Village, Maryland; grandchildren, Camela Rembe Hill and husband, Tom of Udell Iowa, Emily Seffel of College Stateion, Texas and Lauren Seffel of St. Louis, Missouri; great grandson, Thad Hill of Udell, Iowa; sister, Joan Harris of Sioux City, Iowa; brother, Donald Rembe of Primghar, Iowa; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Gene will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 10, 2004, at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Dickinson, Texas with Reverend Ron Page and Reverend Sharon Sabom officiating. Visitation with family and friends will begin at the church at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials will be accepted at First United Methodist Church, 200 FM 517 W, Dickinson, Texas 77539.

Kenneth Eugene Dutcher
GALVESTON — Kenneth Eugene Dutcher, 53, of Galveston, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2004, at UTMB Hospital. His greatest love was for motorcycles, especially Harley Davidson's. He enjoyed riding them and working on them in his shop and could often be found driving his three-wheeler with Donna on the backseat.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Kenneth Dutcher; mother, Charlene Blackwell Dutcher; and brothers, Jerry and James Dutcher.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Donna Dutcher, and her family; and his only remaining blood relative, his sister, Christy Johnson and her husband, Woody; and the couple's many wonderful friends.
A memorial service will be held on East Beach on Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at 6:30 p.m. For those who care to join in, there will be a motorcycle escort of Kenneth's ashes to leave from the movie theater parking lot at 6:10 p.m.

SAN LEON — Lorraine G. (Henderson) Halfant passed away Thursday, October 7, 2004, at her residence. She was born on March 4, 1942, in Galveston, Texas to Lloyd C.J. Henderson, Sr. and Dorothy Mae Henderson. She was a former resident of Texas City.
She is preceded in death by her brother Edward Henderson; and her parents Lloyd and Dorothy Henderson.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years David B. Halfant; daughter Sheila Bussard and her husband Duane of San Leon; step-daughter Tammie Cornitius and husband Robert of Norfolk, Virginia; grandchildren Brandon Looper, Lloyd (Bubba) Looper, Michael (Mikey) Looper, Ashley (Sissy) Bussard and Reagan Halfant; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and one niece.
A memorial service will held on Sunday, October 10, 2004, at 2 p.m. at her residence, with Reverend Mike Amormino officiating. Please call J. Levy & Bro. Funeral Home for directions to the residence.
