SANTA FE — Mr. Richard M. (Dick) Roberts passed from this life Wednesday, October 6, 2004, in Webster.
Born October 27, 1928, in Armstrong, Missouri. Mr. Roberts had been a longtime resident of Galveston County. He had been employed as a driver for Mrs. Baird's Bakery for over nine years and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Roberts was a lifetime member and past Commander of the American Legion, # 554 in League City and enjoyed playing the guitar.
preceded in death by parents, Noah and Ada Roberts and brother, J. D. Roberts, survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Kay Roberts of Paso Robles, California; brothers and sisters-in-law, W. E. and Lessie Roberts of Livingston, L. M. and Marie Roberts of League City, C. L. (Cliff) and Bert Roberts of Santa Fe; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jewel Young of Santa Fe, Martha and M. J. Sartain of Trinity, Nancy K. and Wyndell Harper of Sugar Land, Jeanie and Richard Moffett of League City; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2004, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend M. J. Sartain officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park cemetery.
Casketbearers will be members of the American Legion, #554 in League City.

Victoria Demerson departed this life October 6, 2004, after a lengthy illness. She was born on Jan. 18th in LaGrange, Texas, to Perry and Elmira Scott.
She is preceded in death by her husband Elbert Demerson, Parents and brother, Perry Scott. Those left to cherish her memories are children, Marilyn Demerson of La Grange; Alvin of Texas City, Jacqueline Davis, of League City, Carilyn Tezno of Texas City and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City with D.N. Benford officiating.

DICKINSON — Russell Gene Norton, 49, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2004. He was born February 4, 1955, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He served his country in the U. S. Navy and was employed as a maintenance mechanic with Brown and Root.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 9, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas.
Survivors include his wife of nine years, Kim Norton; two daughters, Jodi Kirk and husband, Greg; step daughter, Vanessa McErlean; two sons, Greg Norton and step son, John McErlean; sister, Sandra Reddy; three brothers, Buddy Boles, Ronnie Norton and George Wood; and his two grandchildren, Hali Thomas and Kaylie Kirk.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

WEBSTER — Anne Lynch, 68, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at Cornerstone Hospital in Webster, Texas after a long illness.
Anne, a longtime Galveston resident was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Delphia Johnston, husband of forty-six years William E. Lynch, Jr. and sister Billie Sue Glenn.
She is survived by her son James Lynch and fiancé Kristin Stehling of Galveston; her daughters Katherine Devall of Galveston, Barbara Harvell and her husband Pepper, Jr. of Galveston, Elizabeth Van Zandt and her husband Robert of Montgomery; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many relatives and friends.
There will be no services as Anne had requested.

"Sugar Lump" as he was known, was born November 4, 1945, in Waller, Texas to the late Jesse, Sr. and Addie Walker Barnes. During his young adult years, he trained horses and was employed as a glass worker. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jody Barnes.
Jesse is survived by three brothers, Herman Barnes (Louise), Robert Barnes (Jo) and Cecil Barnes; three sisters, Emma Washington (Leon), Matlene Finch and Jesse Mae Johnson (Tony); a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.

LEAGUE CITY — Julius David "Pete" Jankowski, 60, passed away at his residence in League City on Wednesday, October 6, 2004. He was born September 5, 1944, in Houston, Texas to Theodore and Beulah Jankowski. He served his country in the U. S. Army during Vietnam; he was a meat cutter for Kroger’s and belonged to the local union of meat cutters; he also belonged to the VFW, Knights of Columbus and Eagles FOE #3789.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 9, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas with Deacon Rob Stevens officiating. Visitation will be Friday, October 8, 2004, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet in Dickinson, Texas.
