Catherine Marie Ciaccio Tuttoilmundo
Mrs. Catherine Marie Ciaccio Tuttoilmondo – beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother went to be received into the arms of Jesus at the age of 90. She passed from this life on October 1, 2004, at 3:52 p.m., from her home in Ft. Deposit, Alabama where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law for the last three years.
Mrs. Tuttoilmondo was born on August 24, 1914, in Galveston, Texas to Michael P. Ciaccio and Lillie O. Ciaccio. She graduated from Ball High School in Galveston in 1933, where she excelled in sports. She and her late husband Anthony J. Tuttoilmondo Sr. were married
in 1934. Her hobbies were cooking, reading and baby-sitting her grandchildren, but Catherine’s greatest accomplishment was the love she shared with her family. "They were her life" and her life revolved around them.
Catherine lived in Santa Fe, Texas for 51 years where she was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Her father and mother, Michael P. and Lillie O Ciaccio; husband, A.J. (Tiger) Tuttoilmondo Sr., and brother, Michael S. Ciaccio preceded her in death. Her loving son, A.J. Tuttoilmondo Jr., his wife, Bettejane, of Santa Fe, Texas; loving daughter, Carol (Bootsie) Sasser, and her husband, Wayne, of Ft. Deposit, Alabama survive her; five grandchildren she dearly loved, Michael Tuttoilmondo, of Santa Fe, Texas, Mark Tuttoilmondo, of Alvin, Texas, Lori Cummings and her husband, Jeff, of Ft. Deposit, Alabama, Cherri Harrah, of Clear Lake, Texas and Robert (Jamie) Warren Jr., of Ft. Deposit, Alabama; seven great grandsons, Lee Biela and wife, Amanda, of Ft. Deposit, Alabama, Blake, Ryan and Dylan Morris, of Clear Lake, Texas, Cory and Aaron Cummings, of Ft. Deposit, Alabama and Mark Tuttoilmondo Jr., of Alvin, Texas; loving sister-in-laws, Florine (Flip) Ciaccio, of Santa Fe, Texas, Marie Kirschner, of Galveston, Texas and Lydia Tuttoilmondo, of Hitchcock, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends, Harry, Earlene and Patrick Click, of Santa Fe, Texas.
Funeral services for family and friends will be held at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. Visitation will be October 6, 2004, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a short service at 11:00 a.m., with Father Tom Ponizi officiating. Catherine will then be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Dickinson,Texas.
Juliette Stubblefield Hatter
LA MARQUE — Mrs. Juliette Stubblefield Hatter passed from this life on Friday, October 1, 2004, at UTMB Hospital in Galveston, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer.
Judy, as she was known, was born to the union of Ernest Stubblefield and Eura V. Tisdale Stubblefield on November 9, 1948, in Galveston, Texas. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, in LaMarque, with the Class of 1967. Her education continued at North Texas State University in Denton where she proudly joined Delta Sigma Theta Sorority in 1969.
Judy was employed at American National Insurance Company for 32 years in the Death Benefits Department. At an early age, Judy joined Bell Zion Baptist Church in LaMarque. She showed her faith in God by singing in the Mass Choir and serving on the Hospitality Food Committee at her church until her health failed. Her other community organizations include Pride of LaMarque Court #457 of Calanthe and the Ecumenical Prayer Partners Hall of Fame.
She was preceded in death by her mother, and grandmother, Julia Tisdale. Left to cherish her memories are her former husband and friend, Ernest L. Hatter, Jr., of Houston; father, Ernest Stubblefield, of Texas City; daughter, Tamny Fields (Shedric) and grandchildren, Jayla and Jakai, of Fresno, Texas; son, Tevin Hatter, of LaMarque; devoted brothers, Ervin Rollins (Barbara), of Texas City, Edgar Rollins, of San Mateo, California, Waymon Stubblefield, of LaMarque; sister, Ernestine Stubblefield Sapp (Walter), of Tuskeegee, Alabama; nephews, nieces, aunts, cousins, mother-in-law, Mrs. Juanita Hatter; special friend, Irma Allen; other family members, her church family and friends.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 5th at Mainland Funeral Home, in LaMarque. Visitation will continue after 5:30 p.m., at Greater Bell Zion Baptist Church, 5917 Carver, in Texas City where a wake will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m.,Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at the church with Pastor Jerry B. Lee, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Mainland Memorial cemetery in Hitchcock.
Mark D. Glenn
Mark D. Glenn, 39, of Texas City, passed away September 30, 2004. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2004, at the James Crowder Funeral Home, LaMarque. Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 5th, at the funeral home.
Raymond R. Rapp, Jr.
GALVESTON — Raymond R. Rapp, Jr. 84, noted Galveston architect, departed this life peacefully on Saturday, October 2, 2004.
Born in Galveston to Raymond and Edith Reybaud Rapp and preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Helene Brynston Rapp, he is survived by son, Donald G. Rapp and wife, MaryAnn, of Houston; grandchildren, Michael, of League City and Melissa, of Houston; son, Gary R. Rapp and wife, Kathleen, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Joel, of Denver and Leah, of Colorado Springs; son, Barney J. Rapp and wife, Peggy, of Galveston; grandchildren, Brian, of Luling, Louisiana and Erin, of Houston; son, John T. Rapp and wife, Carolyn, of League City; grandchildren, Aspen and Julie, of League City; daughter, Madeline A. Newcomb and husband, Richard, of St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren, Kelly, of Tampa and Ian, of St. Petersburg; great grandchild, Melanie of Luling, Louisiana.
Survivors also include brothers, James Rapp and wife, Grace, of Houston, Robert Rapp and wife, Minnie, of Austin, Thomas Rapp, of Dickinson; sister-in-law, Maxine Arenas and husband, Joe, of Galveston.
Raymond served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed at Fort Bliss and later in the Philippines.
In 1921, his father began the practice of architecture in Galveston and Raymond succeeded him as principal upon his death in 1959. The Rapp architectural firm was involved in over 2500 projects in the Galveston/Houston area. His distinguished career was recognized by his induction into the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects.
Raymond was a tireless worker and served Galveston for over four decades in many community and church related service projects. He loved the Texas Hill Country and exemplified the true meaning of an outdoors sportsman.
The family of Raymond (and Helene) want to thank and acknowledge the wonderful care by Mary James, RN, and her staff at Regency Hospice; and the courteous staff at Regency Village, in Webster, for making this end-of-life experience bearable for all of us.
Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 14th & Broadway, on Monday, October 4, 2004, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., led by his son, Deacon Don Rapp.
Funeral mass will be at Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, October 5, 2004, at 9:30 a.m., with Father Frank Fabj officiating. Interment will follow at Old Catholic cemetery under direction of Malloy & Son Funeral Home.
Raymond’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of floral arrangements, donations to the Maintenance Fund for Sacred Heart Church are suggested.
Robert Lee Ransom
LA MARQUE — Bob Ransom, 53 passed away Thursday, September 30, 2004.
He was born February 10, 1951, in Wharton, Texas. Bob was a lifelong resident of La Marque. He graduated from La Marque High School in 1969 and attended the University of Texas for two years. He was a devoted follower of UT football.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Jonathan and Dorothy Ransom and his aunt, Ruby Lee Ransom. He is survived by his daughter, Abbey Lee Ransom and son, Lane B. Ransom. He is also survived by his sister, Anne Ransom Ward and brother, John Barker Ransom and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 5, 2004, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the James Crowder Funeral Home, in La Marque. Bob will be cremated and his ashes will be buried Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at the Wharton cemetery, in Wharton, Texas.
Sterling C. Carothers
Mr. Sterling C. Carothers, Sr., 71, passed away at his residence, Thursday, September 29, 2004.
Born in West Point, MS, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had worked as a pipefitter.
Survivors include a son, Sterling Carothers, Jr.; step-son, David Beaudreaux; step-daughters, Terry Wood and Cindy Duhon; half brother, Roy Lipscomb and grandchildren, Jacob and Angela.
Visitation will be at the Forest Park East Funeral Home from 10:30 – 12:30 on Thursday, October 7, 2004, with a graveside service to be held at 12:30 p.m., in the Forest Park East cemetery.
Chaz Dany'e Hamilton
TEXAS CITY — "So teach us to number our days…" Psalm 90:12a. Chaz Dany'e Hamilton entered his eternal sleep on September 29, 2004 in Texas City, Texas at the age of 18.
Chaz was born September 18, 1986, in Galveston, Texas. Educated in LaMarque public schools, he was a former employee of Foot Action. He is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Viola Womack and grandparents, Ruth Hamilton and M. C. Murray, Jr.

Pastor William L. Randall, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Mainland Memorial cemetery in Hitchcock.
James Joe Sr.
TYLER, TEXAS — James Joe Sr., born, May 24, 1925, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Isareal Joe Jr. and Pecola Payton Joe, passed away September 18, 2004, in Tyler, Texas.
He is survived by his sister, Lillie Mae Joe Barne, of Port Arthur, Texas; his son, James (Lauressa) Joe Jr.; his daughters, Janice (Leon) Logan, Ronnie (Anthony) Gillis, Deborah (McDonald) Wilson, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 4, 2004, at 7 p.m. at Compton Memorial Church of God & Christ in Galveston, Texas.
John Wayne Schmidt
John Wayne Schmidt, 59, of La Marque passed away Friday, October 1, 2004, at M. D. Anderson Hospital, in Houston.
John was born January 20, 1945, in Yorktown, Texas to John and Marquerite Schmidt. For thirty six years John was a dedicated and loyal employee of Domac Inc. He was more than an employee, he was Domac family. John served in the National Guard during Vietnam.
Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, October 3, 2004, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the James Crowder Funeral Home, in La Marque. Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
John (Chief) Schmidt was a very hard working but simple man. He was a very strong family man. He lived for his family, football, race car driving and dancing. He was very respected by many. He will truly be missed.
John is survived by his wife of thirty eight years, Janice Schmidt, of La Marque; mother, Marguerite Schmidt; two daughters and son-in-law, Mindy and Michael Holmes, Jr. and Julia Schmidt; sisters, Marlene Johnson and Sherry Barnhart; brother, Jay Schmidt; two grandchildren, Madison and Mya Holmes.
