Margaret Adeline French Hoffman
ARCADIA — Mrs. Margaret Adeline French Hoffman beloved wife, dedicated mother, a loving grandmother and great-grandmother passed from this life Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at her home. She was 95 and the oldest native born resident of Arcadia.
Born December 29, 1908, to Thomas F. and Isobel French in her grandparent's home in Arcadia, Texas, now Santa Fe, Texas. She was raised by her grandparents David D. and Margaret A. Hill.
She attended Arcadia High School where she was the valedictorian of the graduating class of 1925. She then worked for American National Insurance Company until her marriage to Clarence J. Hoffman on October 21, 1936.
A lifelong member of the Arcadia Christian Church where she played piano and sang in the choir. Her deep abiding faith in God gave her strength to meet life's challenges with grace and dignity.
She was the first Tax Collector and Assessor for the Santa Fe School District. A position she held for over thirty years.
She was a woman of very strong convictions, extremely charitable who contributed her time effort and money to many church and service organizations. Her memberships include the Alvin Rebekah Lodge # 138 for over sixty years where she had held many offices including Noble Grand and received the degree of Chivalry and lifetime membership. She was also a member of Alvin Eastern Star where she had been Worthy Matron. A founding member of the Santa Fe Historical Society and the Senior Citizens of Santa Fe, she was also a member of PTA, Election Board since 1940 and the Santa Fe 42 Club.
She lived a very successful and happy life and will be best remembered for her zeal for living. Strong and independent in spirit, she was always compassionate and gave aid and support to those less fortunate. She expected nothing, but appreciated everything. Her kindness, sharp intelligence, talents and unique sense of humor will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mariam Esarey, Doris Kinney, Frances Hultquist, Nancy Springer, brothers Malcom French and Jolly French.
She is survived by Clarence J. Hoffman, her proud and loving husband of over sixty-seven years; her sons David A. Hoffman of Houston, Texas and Darvin R. Hoffman and wife his Carolyn of Tennessee; grandchildren Shana M. and Coco Garza of Tennessee, Jonathan D. and Belinda Hoffman of Massachusetts; and great grandsons Shawn, Ryan and Colin Garza of Tennessee, Jacob and Nathan Hoffman of Massachusetts; numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. She is also survived by her sister in law Mrs. A.C. (Willie Mary Hoffman) Still of Beaumont, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 24, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Arcadia Christian Church, 14201 Beriton, Santa Fe, Texas, Pastor Tom Medlin officiating. Private graveside services will be conducted at the Galveston Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Clifford L. Dickson
LA MARQUE - Clifford Longfellow Dickson was born to Abner L. Dickson and Mary L. Mooring on September 21, 1921, in Grimes County, Texas. At an early age, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Roans Prairie, Texas.
He graduated from Anderson High School and served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman.
Clifford met and married
Ms. Jeannie Mae Meachum. After his marriage, he and his wife united with Greater Bell Zion Baptist Church where he served as president of the Usher Board for many years. Clifford departed his life Monday, September 20, 2004, at Mainland Center Hospital in Texas City.
He is preceded in death by wife Jeannie, parents Abner and Mary Dickson, sister Hattie Mae Dorsey, sister and brother-in-law Otelia Holmes and Rev. Peter Holmes, brother and sister-in-law Jasper Dickson and Anna Mae Dickson.
Clifford will forever be in the hearts of his devoted daughters and sons, Janice Craddock, Carolyn Spiller, Stanley Dickson and Clifford Don Dickson from La Marque; three grandchildren, Tyra Spiller, Tamela Spiller and Donald Spiller II from La Marque; sister, Annie Mae Williams from Texas City; brother, Abner Dickson Jr. from Texas City; two sister-in-laws, Lillie Bassett and Ozell Meachum from Houston; a special friend, Cora Harrison, her daughter, Sharonda Anderson (George) and their daughter, Georne' Anderson from Dickinson; and host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2004, at Greater Bell Zion Baptist Church, 5917 Carver in Texas City followed by a wake from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004, at the church with Pastor Jerry B. Lee, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Coaxberry cemetery in Plantersville, Texas under the direction of Mainland Funeral Home of La Marque.

William E. "Bill" Danford
GALVESTON — William E. "Bill" Danford, 70, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2004, at The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. He was born November 26, 1933, in Tampa, Florida, however, he has been a resident of Galveston Island for many years. For some 27 years, Mr. Danford was the sole owner and operator of his own business known to Galveston islanders as "Danford’s Packing Stores, Nos. 1 & 2. He enlisted into the United States Army March, 1954, and as a Veteran, was a member of the 82nd Airborne. Proudly serving his country, he was honorably discharged in March, 1957.
Mr. Danford was preceded in death by his parents, William Patrick Danford and Thelma Danford Roemhild and also his grandmother, Florence Waters. He leaves behind many loving memories with his wife, Patty Danford of Galveston, mother and father-in-law, Jack Moore and wife, Pat, brother-in law, Bobby Leslie and wife, Ginger, his sister-in-law, Jackie Moore and also his cousin, Cliff Curci. Also sharing his loss are other loving family and many friends, most especially, his good friends and neighbors, Wade Bailey and wife, Dorothy.
Honoring his wishes for cremation, Mr. Danford will be remembered with a Gathering for Visitation to be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, September 24, 2004, in the Memorial Room of Broadway Funeral Home, Galveston. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday evening after 5 p.m.

Angelica Crystal Angeles
TEXAS CITY — Angelica Crystal Angeles, 14, of Texas City, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at U.T.M.B. in Galveston.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Texas City with Father Tom Ponzini officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Thursday with a Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Angelica was born April 28, 1990, in Galveston.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Josephine Rippstine.
Survivors include her parents Agustin and Esther Angeles of Texas City; brothers Jose Delgado, Jr. and Agustin Angeles, Jr.; grandparents: Raymondo Angeles, Aurora Angeles and Edward Rippstine; uncles, aunts, cousins and numerous other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to the pediatric doctors and nurses at U.T.M.B. for their kindness and care of Angelica. Also, our heartfelt thanks to our family and friends here and in Mexico for their love and support.

Wilmaud Sennette
LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA — Ms. Wilmaud Sennette, 75, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by family and friends on Monday, September 20, 2004, in a Lake Charles hospital. She was born in Galveston and has been a resident of Lake Charles for 14 years. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 25, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church with Father John Giles as Officiant. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart cemetery. Visitation will also be held Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. a the King's Funeral Home in Lake Charles.
Survivors include her daughter, Gwendolyn Sennette Williams of Galveston; sister Barbara (John) Marsh, Jr. of Galveston; brother Leroy C. (Grace) Sennette, Sr. of La Marque; 3 grandchildren, DeAngelia Kately of San Antonio, Texas, Devin (Michelle) Williams of Houston, Texas and Deyna Williams of Galveston, Texas; her devoted caregiver, Lula Senegal of Lake Charles, Louisiana and a host of other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
