Johnnie Mae Goffney James
GALVESTON — Johnnie Mae Goffney James, 73, left her earthly home and entered her eternal dwelling place on Monday, September 20, 2004, at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas.
Visitation will begin today, at 4 p.m. followed by a wake from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary.
A service of remembrance will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2004, at Sunlight Baptist Church with the Rev. A. C Tryon, officiating. She will be laid to rest at Lakeview cemetery.
Johnnie Mae was born September 28, 1930, in Shiro, Texas to Quincy and Minnie Haynes Oliver. She attended public school in Anderson and Huntsville, Texas. After graduating from high school, she moved to Galveston and later joined the Sunlight Church where she remained a faithful, active and dedicated member, who especially loved working with the youth department, as well as the choir, senior mission and other auxiliaries.
Mrs. James worked in the Dietary Department at UTMB for 45 years prior to retiring as a certified Dietary Manager. She also was a gourmet cook, a real estate agent and owner of James Enterprises.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert James; eight sisters and brothers.
She leaves with precious memories of her life, her daughter, Marilyn Oliver Harden (Cecil) of Austin, Texas; stepdaughter, Rhonda Stringfellow (Anthony) of Clay, Texas; grandchildren, Anthony RaeJon Reese of Austin, Lisa Monique Jones of San Antonio; Whitney and Allysha Stringfellow of Clay, Texas; devoted great great niece, Kimberly Denton; god daughter, Gwendolyn Crear, Theresa Cannon-Partridge, Charleshlon Spiller and Rudy Miles; Godsons, A.C. Hollis, Larry Turner, Byron Charles Hollis and Leon Siverand; devoted adoptive sister, Mae Lee Hardiman; devoted special friends, Tishie B. Kelly, Queenie Gilford, Katie Williams, Frankie Fisher and Georgia Spiller; a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.

HITCHCOCK — Homegoing celebration for Juanita Hall-Cambric, will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2004, at 10 a.m., at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church, in Hitchcock, with the Rev. William Randal, pastor, and Rev. Carl McNulty, eulogist.

Gale Ann Evers
SAN LEON — Gale Ann Evers, 54, a 28-year resident of San Leon, Texas, passed away peacefully in her bed on Wednesday, September 22, 2004.
She is survived by her brother, Mark Evers of San Leon; daughter Shannon Henricks of San Leon; nephew Michael Evers of Hudson, Michigan; niece Ashley Evers of Wyoming and Gale Ann's two grandchildren, Randy Wyse Jr. and Brandy Wyse of both of Wauseon, Ohio.
Gale Ann was a wonderfully compassionate person who was loved deeply by all that knew her. She will be missed by many and forgotten by none.
Viewing of Gale Ann will be held on the pavilion at the San Leon cemetery located on Bayshore Drive in San Leon, Texas, on Saturday, September 25, 2004, from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Service and interment will then be conducted.

The Lord reached out on Sunday, September 19, 2004, and brought his angel, Cameron Joseph Prince Michael Bluitt, back into his everlasting arms.

Alex B. Billiott, Jr.
GALVESTON — Alex B. Billiott, Jr., 68, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of September 20, 2004, at The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston.
He was born in Bay City, Texas at the home of his grandparents, John and Ella Nolan on July 3, 1936, to the late Alex Bernard and Clara Mae Billiott. Alex attended Sacred Heart School and Kirwin High School. He played football for Kirwin and was a cheerleader his senior year. Alex was a lifeguard on Galveston Beach. He saved 26 lives. Alex was very proud to have served as a member of the United States Marine Corps between 1956 and 1958. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California during his service time. Alex was employed as a salesman for the Century Paper Company for 25 years and developed many friendships throughout Galveston County. After retiring from Century Papers, Alex worked at the Galveston County District Clerk’s office and continued to enjoy many new friendships. Alex was a great fan of the movie star, John Wayne. He collected John Wayne movies and memorabilia and has a picture of "The Duke" hanging in his office.

Helen Fant of Galveston on September 5, 1964. Alex and Helen recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They have resided at their current home in Galveston for almost 30 years. Alex was very proud of his son, Stephen W. Billiott and his daughter, Nicole R. Billiott. His family was of great importance to him.
Alex is survived by his wife, Helen; his son and his wife, Stephen W. and Sheryl of Houston; his daughter, Nicole R.; sister, Dolores F. Curry of Huntington Beach, California; brother, Emmett M. Billiott of Wichita Falls, Texas; mother-in-law, Lillian Fant and brother-in-law, Arthur Fant, Galveston; aunts, Ernestine Nolan, Veronica Allen, Eloise Serafine and Cecila Reil; uncle Joseph Nolan; nieces, Judy Perry and Rebecca Curry, nephews, Frank, Steve and Jason Curry, of California, nephews, Michael and Jeffrey Billiott of La Marque and Dickinson, niece Peggy Billiott of Oklahoma and nephew Allan Michael of Wichita Falls; grand nieces and nephews, Claudia and Isabella Curry, Destiny Long, Sabrina Kouchar, Justin and Anders Perry of California, Brittany, Dylan, Devyn and Taylor Billiott of La Marque and Dickinson. Alex is also survived by numerous cousins. His best friend, Gino Marchi and Gino’s family, Gino, Jr., Lu-Ann, Jo-Anita and Cindy were like a second family to Alex. Alex was very well liked and loved by everyone who knew him. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
At Alex’s request, no funeral services will be held. A memorial service for Alex will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2004, in the Memorial Room of Broadway Funeral Home, Galveston, with Rev. Ray Pinard, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Alex’s family is requesting that memorials in his memory be made to the Edgewater Meals on Wheels Program, the American Heart Association or the Gulf Coast Center.

Lisa Ray Girouard, 41 passed from this life in the loving presence of her family and friends on September 22, 2004, ending her short and courageous battle with breast cancer.
She is survived by her life partner Sharon Bourg; her mother Joreen Menefee Girouard; and sister Kim Girouard Nunez, husband Scot and their children Aaron and Avery Nunez. She is predeceased by her father Ray Allen Girouard and beloved grandmother Mary C. Menefee.
Lisa was a vibrant, beautiful, intelligent and talented woman. A selfless giver, a passionate and unrelenting advocate for children, she graced our world with love, sincerity, open-mindedness, a beautiful spirituality and always, her positive upbeat, let’s-take-it-on attitude.
She held both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in educational counseling and was working on a nursing degree when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a meritorious career in childhood counseling in the public schools. A devoted Catholic, an analytical thinker, a great listener, a lover of music, a friend of animals, a woman who was never satisfied with mediocrity, she leaves us to contemplate our purpose.
A Rosary and prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2004, at the Christian Renewal Center, 1515 Hughes Road in Dickinson, Texas.
Rite of Christian burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday September 27, 2004, True Cross Catholic Church, 300 F.M. 517 in Dickinson, Texas, Rev. Don Kuder, O.S.B. officiating.
