GALVESTON - Emma F. Deutsch, 98, of Galveston passed away August 10, 2004 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m., August 13, 2004 at Westminister Presbyterian Church, 5127 Ave. U, Galveston, Texas, with Rev. Kay Peters Johnson, officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 2004 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, 1201 Tremont, Galveston, Texas.
Emma was born January 22, 1906 to Thomas And Susie Lavender Prophet in Sidon, Mississippi. Graduating from high school in 1924, she earned her nursing license. She had been employed as a nurse at UTMB retiring in 1975 after 30 plus years of dedicated service. She was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church.
preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Dorothy Watson, son, Arthur Utroska and stepdaughter, Rita Dunnigan and husband Franklin K. Deutsch, Emma is survived by her daughter, Donna Hungerpiller and husband, Jim; stepson, Dewey Deustch of Sommerville; eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; sister, Edna Crowe of Conroe; other relatives and friends.

CRYSTAL BEACH - Mrs. Jan Bridwell, 62, of Crystal Beach, Texas died on Monday, August 9, 2004, in Shreveport. Louisiana, following a brief illness.
A memorial service is to be held on Saturday, August 14, 2004, at 2 p.m. in Crystal Beach at Sandy Shores, in front of Connie Hailey's beachfront home.
Jan is remembered as a lovely, feminine lady who enjoyed beautiful clothes and shopping with her friends. She loved traveling with friends and family, especially to Mexico, and most recently, cruising the Panama Canal with her husband, Pat. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of retiring at the beach, joining her close friends, when she and her husband permanently relocated to Crystal Beach three years ago.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Pat; her daughter, Melissa and her husband, Kerry; and her granddaughter, Morgan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Karl Thomas Boysen
GALVESTON - On Sunday morning the 8th of August 2004, Karl Thomas Boysen passed from this life to the Kingdom of the Lord. Karl was born on January 20, 1959. He attended Travis Elementary School, Lovenberg Junior High and was a 1976 graduate of Ball High School. Karl attended Galveston College, Sam Houston State University and graduated from the University of Houston Clear Lake with a B.A. in Accounting and continued attending the U of H always wanting to improve himself.
He was a life long member of First Lutheran Church, served as a deacon, on the Vestry, Octoberfest Committee and the Men‚s Club. He was also active in his youth as a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and played and coached Little League Baseball. He was an active member of Galveston Chapter Order of the DeMolay, active Member and Past Master of Tucker Lodge #297 A.F. & A.M., serving as Treasurer. He also was a member of the 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Galveston, active Member of El Mina Shrine, serving as Director, Drum and Bugle Corps member and Model T Club and member of Mizpah Chapter #2 Order of the Eastern Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dora and Bob Boysen.
Karl leaves behind two brothers Robert O. Boysen and his wife Theresa and John E. Boysen and his wife Shereen; nieces and nephews, Robert Boysen, Jr. and his wife Justina, Erica Richey and husband Nathan, Tiffany Boysen, John Boysen, Jr. and Sarah Boysen. Karl also left behind three great-nieces Katelynn Boysen, Naomi Boysen and Caroline Boysen; Godmother Joyce Ekelund and devoted Uncle Oscar Ekelund.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2004 at J. Levy & Bro. Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held at 7p.m.. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 13, 2004 at 10a.m. at First Lutheran Church, with Pastor Doug Guthier officiating. Interment will follow at Oleander cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Boysen, Jr, Nathan Richey, Joseph Gillane, Scott Muraca, Jr., Dan Martin and Bill Hare. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Galveston Masonic Bodies and members of First Lutheran Church Men‚s Club.

Eddie was born July 21, 1947, to Edward G. Schmidt, Sr. and Wanda Joyce Smith Schmidt in Galveston, Texas. He was employed with Weeks Service Co. for 3 1/2 years in League City, was briefly employed by G & H Towing and had earned his private pilot’s license at Scholes Field in Galveston. He also served in the US Navy. Eddie began his electrical career in the family business, Electrical Service and Supply. He loved to fish and supplied his family and friends with the results of his catches. He was a member of Tucker Lodge # 297 AF & AM and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Galveston.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 27 years, Deborah Schmidt of Galveston; daughter, Crystal Kay Schmidt of Lubbock; beloved parents, Eddie G. and Wanda Schmidt, Sr. of Galveston; sister, JaRue Schmidt Mansfield of Galveston; brothers, Fred Schmidt, Sr. and Eugene Schmidt and wife, Joan all of Galveston; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Schmidt, Blake Schmidt, Ricky Garza, Sgt. John Austin, USMC, Johnny Runyan and Gary Weeks. Honorary pallbearers are Fred B. Schmidt, brother and George Schmidt, nephew.

HITCHCOCK - Mr. Jose E. "Joe" Cermeno, Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Thursday morning, August 12, 2004, at his home.
Born January 30, 1916, in Rock Springs, Mr. Cermeno had been a resident of Hitchcock since 1959, and was an active member of Iglesia Sinai Church in Galveston.
preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Rivera and brothers, Jesse, Frank, Robert, Mike and Louis Sierra, survivors include his wife of almost 64 years, Felicitas S. Cermeno of Hitchcock; son, Joe E. (Janie) Cermeno, Jr. of Houston; daughters, Virginia (David, Sr.) Sauceda of Hitchcock, Irene (Gilbert) Perez of Houston, Anita Jasso of Pearland; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2004, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with the Rev. Abram Medellin officiating. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2004, at Grace Memorial Park cemetery.

Lawrence Barosh passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2004. He was born in Shiner, Texas on January 6, 1922. Larry retired from Bell Telephone Co. after 38 years of service. He is preceded in death by both of his parents and a brother.
Larry is survived by his wife Ruby and children and their spouses, Roger, Linda and Kenny; by two sisters and their spouses, Kitty Petras and Stella Barta: by his sister-in-law Lilly Baros; by seven grandchildren, three great- grandchildren, one step grandchild, and six step great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas, on Thursday, August 12, 2004, from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 800 FM 517, in Dickinson, Texas at 3 p.m. on Friday August 13, 2004, conducted by pastors Michael Button and Laurie Juull. Interment will follow at Forest Park East cemetery.
