Otto Albert "Obie" Grief
KERRVILLE, TEXAS - Otto Albert "Obie" Grief, our loving dad, granddad and great-granddad, died of natural causes at his residence, 220 Harper Road, on Thursday, July 29, 2004.
Born on July 13, 1914, Obie lived a full and rewarding life for 90 years. He attended high school in San Angelo and Schreiner University on a football scholarship. He married
Joy Tippett on April 8, 1938, and enjoyed 58 years together before her death in 1996.
Obie worked in real estate in Corpus Christi in the forties, ranched in Stephenville and Kerrville in the fifties and sixties, and owned motels in Vernon, Odessa and Kerrville in the seventies and eighties. He retired in 1988.
A gentle and loving man, Obie enjoyed being with family and friends. His keen wit kept a smile on everyone's face. One of his most enjoyable activities was the "feeds" he would host at his barn for his coffee pals. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and an ordained deacon.
Obie is survived by one daughter, Vicky Fisher and husband, Dale of Big Lake; two sons, Ross Grief and wife, Seal of Galveston and Gary Grief and wife, Lisa of Austin; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; and a very special sister-in-law, Maxine Short.
Services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2004, 2 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Rev. Bill Blackburn and Rev. Lenard Hartley. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Garrett Grief, Glenn Neal, Gregg Fisher, Jim Shearer, J.R. Box, Jay Veselka, Lee Wood and Austin Grief.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Stacy, Ray Benton, Lester Buck, Bill Immel, Pete Bryant, Sam Williams, Leo Bachand, Gene Lock, and Joe Benson.
We are very grateful to God that, in His mercy, our dad simply went to sleep and did not suffer. We appreciate all the love and care shown him by Harper House staff and residents.

Jackie was born September 2, 1964, to Carroll and Jimmie Ann White in Galveston, Texas. She loved to tease her siblings and was known to be active in all sports. She was employed as a boilermaker in the construction field and could hold her own with the men she worked with. She was a very loving and caring person and will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her.

Lionel was born February 25, 1952, in Washington County, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Austin, where he attended the Austin State School.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Lee Jones, Sr. and brother, Willie C. Jones.

Lucille was born April 27, 1923, to Arthur and Selena Lanning Lundin in Brooklyn, New York. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She volunteered with the Jamaica Beach Youth Program, was a member of the First Aid Squad of Beachwood, New Jersey, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Island Heights Volunteer Fire Department, earned her license in Real Estate, loved boating in the Barnegat Bay in New Jersey and loved to socialize with her friends. She was a very loving and caring person and will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her.
