Vincent Matthew Comeaux
ALVIN - Vincent Matthew Comeaux was born in Houston, Texas, on January 22, 1987, and was called home to be with Jesus on Saturday, July 24, 2004. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Pete and Mary Carrillo, and his paternal grandfather, Roy V. Comeaux. Vincent never compromised his convictions and he applied his faith to every area of his life.
Vincent is a very dedicated, loving, caring brother and son. He had a passion for family. Vincent craved unique business enterprises such as "Trae Inc." and Vincent/Shaw Inc". He was a member of the Alvin Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Business Professionals and an honorary member of the Alvin German Club.
Vincent is survived by his mother, Peggy Carrillo-West of Webster, Texas; his father, Thomas A. Comeaux and stepmother, Bridget of Alvin, Texas; his siblings, Alexzandria "Allie" West of Webster, Texas; Nathan, Molly and Andrew Comeaux of Alvin, Texas.
He is also survived by his godparents, Pearl Carillo of Victoria, Texas and John Michael Comeaux of Houston, Texas; his grandmother, Anne La Cour Comeaux of Baytown, Texas and step grandparent, Rosemary Martin. Vincent also has numerous aunts and uncles, as well as a host of many relatives and friends.
Friends were invited with the family for visitation from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, July 27, 2004, at Scott's Funeral Home in Alvin. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. in the morning Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manvel, Texas. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
Pallbearers are Trae Shaw, J. D. Martel, Peter A. Carillo, Pete Carillo, Val Comeaux, Eddie Comeaux, Bob Comeaux and Paul Comeaux. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Comeaux and Jack Christian.

HOUSTON - Emma Jeanette Doreck, 96, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2004, in LaPorte, Texas. She was born on March 31, 1908, in Galveston, Texas to Fredich and Bertha Niemeyer. She was a charter member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Emil R. Doreck, and is survived by her daughter, Rosalyn Lemire and her sons, Emil H. Doreck, Norman Doreck and Herbert Doreck. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and numerous great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2004, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Erich Doreck, Boyd Mallia, Gerald Mallia, Michael Hanley, George Wayne Lemire, and Scott Wheeler.

TEXAS CITY - Mary Louise Schultz, a long-term resident of Galveston passed away Saturday, July 24, 2004 in Texas City. She was born in Galveston, September 6, 1922, to Theodore and Mary (Munster) Zulka and was known by her family and friends as "Aunt Lou". She was known to many from her 50 year tenure at L&L Cigar and Candy Company in Galveston. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Galveston prior to moving to Texas City. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Boyd Schultz.
Mrs. Schultz is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Stanley Pierce of Texas City and their children Steve and Kathy Bierman and children Scott and Markey of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, Kevin and Juli Bierman and their children Jessica and Zack Bierman of Lakeway, Texas. She is also survived by her stepson James Schultz, wife Evita and their children Cinnamon and David of Grand Junction, Co. Aunt Lou is also survived by several nephews, nieces and their children, John and Patty Wolters, Joann and Doyle Williams, Karen and Jeff Goldberg, Deborrah and Roy Gray, David and Toni Wolters.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday, July 27, 2004, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Texas City with the Reverend Mifflin Dove officiating. Internment will be at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

TEXAS CITY - Sam Perez Garza, 74, of Texas City, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2004, at U.T.M.B. in Galveston.
A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, July 29, 2004, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Texas City with Father Tom Ponzini officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Emken-Linton Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m.
Mr. Garza was born June 30, 1930, in Austin, Texas. He retired as a longshoreman from Maritime I.L.A., Local #20, where he had served on the Executive Board. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Texas City.
He is preceded in death by his father Augustine; his mother Carolina; brothers Augustine Jr. and Louis; and sisters Janie, Gavina and Susie.
Survivors include his wife Elsie Lucy Garza of Texas City; children, Gregory Garza, Gary Garza, Samuel Garza, Johnnie (Michael) Martinez, Doris Abad, Donna Ayala, Carol Grullon, Toni Miranda, Celia (Sally) Garza, Celeste Sawyer, Linda Ligouri; sister Rosie Barrera; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Gregory Garza, Samuel Garza, Freddie Ayala, David Grullon, Phillip Miranda, Sr., and Louis Garza, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Julio Molis, Joseph Molis, Phillip Miranda, Jr., Anthony Miranda, and Tirso Abad.

SANTA FE - Mr. Warren Russell Ryan passed from this life Sunday morning, July 25, 2004, in Webster.
Born June 25, 1932, in Galveston, Mr. Ryan had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1972. He had been employed at Monsanto Chemical Plant as an operator for 30 years until his retirement in 1992. An avid gardener, Mr. Ryan enjoyed traveling and caring for his dogs.
preceded in death by his son, Robert Eugene Ryan, survivors include his sons, Warren Ryan, Jr. and his wife, Roni of Algoa, Gary Duane Ryan of Santa Fe; daughters, Janet Gail Ryan of Arcadia and Julia Ann Ryan of Hitchcock; brothers, James H. Ryan, III of Texas City, Alpha Raymond Ryan of Santa Fe; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend L. M. Jeane officiating. Interment will follow at Alta Loma cemetery.

SEATLE - Augustus L. Hobgood was a Seattle resident in our central area for over 50 years. At 92 years of age, July 20, 2004, mid morning, "Gus" went on "home" to "Glory". He succumbed to cancer but, didn't suffer long.
Mr. Hobgood is survived by 3 loving daughters, Doretta (Willie) Wynne, Lois Anne (Oscar, Jr.) Eason and Francine Alice Hobgood; Bobbie Terrell Haskin; son, Fletcher Mitchell; grandchildren, Oscar Eason, III, Dcartra Little Parish, Moses Hunter, Jr., Anthony Little, Cheryl Hunter, DeChon Little, Veretta Redmond, Willie Wynne, Jr., Terrie Wynne, Susan Bell, Terrell Young, Judy Haskin and many great grandchildren.
Mr. Hobgood loved life, fishing, sports and being a 33rd degree mason. He was an avid family man.
