HITCHCOCK - Mr. Thomas R. Francis departed this life, Saturday, July 10, 2004, at St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center in Manhattan, New York.
Mr. Francis was born to the union of Thomas and Malissa Francis on January 17, 1932, in Weeks Island, Louisiana. He was employed with the Kroger Distribution Corporation in Houston for 42 years until his retirement in February 1994. He was united in marriage to Betty L. Richard Francis on February 8, 1959.
preceded in death by his father, Mrs. Francis leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Betty; a devoted son, Timothy W. Francis; his mother, Malissa Francis; extended family Tony Ray and Linda Prejean; sister, Shirley Stephen; five sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Jackson (Will), Ann Mitchell (Richard), Emma Jenkins (L.M.), Bessie Richard (Cleveland) and Arlene Richard (Calvin, Jr.); aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2004, at the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel. A wake will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Galilee Baptist Church, 6609 Fairwood Road in Hitchcock. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004, at the church with Pastor B. J. Hunter, officiating. Burial will follow services at Paradise cemetery South in Pearland.

FRIENDSWOOD - Visitation for Wilbert Braggs, Jr., affectionately known as "Wil", will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2004, at the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel in La Marque. A wake will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at St. James AME Church, 2901 Avenue H in Dickinson. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004, at the church, Rev. Gloria Cash, pastor, Rev. Arthur Ferguson, officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park East cemetery in Webster.
Born August 27, 1958, in Galveston, Texas, "Wil" was a graduate of Clear Creek High School; a member of Clear Lake AME Church; and was formerly employed with Clear Creek Independent School District as a bus driver.
He departed this life to be with the Lord on Monday, July 12, 2004, at his home. He is preceded in death by his father, Wilbert Braggs, Sr and his step-father, Troy Lee Harris.
His memory will forever linger in the hearts of his beloved and devoted mother, Rose Harris of Friendswood; his son, Troy Hogues of Friendswood; his god-brother and god-sister, Patrick Jones of Houston and Ashley Scott of Dickinson; and a host of aunts, uncles, other family members and friends.

GALVESTON-Minister Isa Dai, 52, departed this life on Monday, July 12, 2004, at UTMB John Sealy Hospital.
A service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, July 16, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev A. W. Colbert, officiating. He will be laid to rest at Lakeview cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today, July 15, 2004, followed by a wake service from 7-8 p.m. at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary.
Isa was born September 11, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas. He was a longtime resident of Galveston and was a former deckhand with TXDOT. He was associate minister at the Macedonia Church and a member of the Men of Distinction. His passion for outdoors led him to be an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elijah Moore.
Left to cherish memories is his mother, Marilyn Evans of Wichita, Kansas; seven children; six grandchildren; brother, Adrian Harper; sisters, Charlene Miller, Marilyn Moore, Patricia Barchara and Darlene Wiseberry; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

GALVESTON - Eleanor Helen Fernandez, 81, passed away, Tuesday, July 12, 2004, in Clear Lake City. A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 16, 2004, in the Memorial Room of Broadway Funeral Home, Galveston with Fr. John Bok, O.F.M., Pastor of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Galveston, officiating. Burial will follow services Friday at Calvary cemetery, also in Galveston. Ms. Fernandez’s family will be receiving friends for visitation at the funeral home Friday morning after 9 a.m.
Born on Galveston Island May 4, 1923, Ms. Fernandez was a lifelong resident of Galveston, growing up on the island, attending the island’s elementary and high schools and graduating from Ball High School. Working for American National Insurance Company, she was employed some 35 years with the company until such time that she retired.
Ms. Fernandez is preceded in death by her parents, Joaquin and Julia Fernandez, one of her brothers, Tony Fernandez, Sr. and also two of her aunts, Louise Morales and Ercilia Robles. She leaves behind many fond memories with her loving family, sisters, Ercilia Kalsnes of Galveston and Gloria Phillips and husband, Gus of Clear Lake City; and her brother, Charles Fernandez and wife, Arlene of The Woodlands and sister-in-law Joyce Fernandez of Galveston. Sharing in her loss, also, are Ms. Fernandez’s nieces and nephews, Linda Perez and husband, Ray of Clear Lake, Karen Kirk and husband, Carl of Galveston, Rick Phillips and wife, Vi of Santa Fe, Erling Kalsnes and wife, Theresa of Galveston, Tony Fernandez, Jr. and wife, Shonda of Texas City and Laura Mendez of Galveston, numerous great-nieces and nephews, a host of other family and friends. She will be sadly missed.
Pallbearers will be Tony Fernandez, Jr., Erling Kalsnes, Rick Phillips, Jeff Sievers, Michael Sievers, David Klippel, Jason Phillips and Bryan Phillips.

LA MARQUE - Geneva Baldwin Rahr, 87, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Wanda's Personal Care Home in La Marque, Texas. She was born February 18, 1917, in Kingsley, Michigan to John and Minnie Baldwin, and was preceded in death by her husband Earnest Andrew Rahr in 1997. She was retired from the nursing profession.
She is survived by daughters Mary Elizabeth Baatz, Jacqueline Jean Martin and Rebecca Ann Alder; two step-sons, Richard Rahr and Larry Rahr; step daughter Jean Holmes; grandchildren William Hays, Cindy Bigelow, Lisa Preston, Genita Boyd, Clinton Richison; fifteen great-grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.
A visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2004, at Crowder Funeral, 111 E. Medical Center Blvd., Webster, Texas with a service at 7 p.m. Interment will be at Evergreen cemetery, Kingsley, Michigan under the direction of Covell - Smith Funeral Home.

Wilfred was born June 28, 1976, in Galveston, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Galveston and a 1995 graduate of Ball High School. He was baptized at an early age at the Gethsemane church and was employed at Colonel Bubbie's. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Eugene Holman, and Wilfred J. Simon, Sr.

TEXAS CITY - Paul Waterman, 71, of Texas City, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Mainland Medical Center, Texas City, Texas. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, July 15, 2004, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 IH 45 North (exit 15) in Texas City, Texas. Graveside services will be held at Galveston Memorial Park cemetery, Hitchcock, on Friday, July 16, 2004, at noon, with Pastor Bruce Frazier officiating.
Mr. Waterman was born June 14, 1933, in Eldridge, Missouri. He was an air conditioning, heating and refrigeration repairman with a successful business for 12 years. He faithfully attended Third Coast Fellowship in Texas City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Omar and Sylvia Waterman, seven brothers, two sisters and one great granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Donna Waterman of Texas City, three daughters, Vicki McDowell and husband, Mac of Texas City, Brenda Reeves and husband Robert of Galveston and Paulette Gulick and husband Brad of Galveston; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister. Paul was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be very missed by his loving family and friends.
