Peggy D. Robertson
HITCHCOCK - Peggy D. Robertson, 59, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. She leaves behind many wonderful memories with her husband, Jerry Silman of Hitchcock, Texas; her son, Tony Barnard and other loving family members including her 1 sister, 3 brothers and her mother, Vada Barnard of Sherman, Texas.
Peggy was born in Sherman, Texas August 2, 1944, however, she has lived in the Galveston County area, working as a restaurant manager for Miller’s Landing on Galveston’s Seawall, where she worked for some 27 years.
Peggy’s family is honoring her wish for cremation and would be most appreciative if she is remembered with a kind thought or prayer. These thoughts will far overshadow anything else that someone could possible do to help them through these most sorrowful times.
In her memory, a private family Memorial service will be held at a later date in Sherman, Texas.
Cremation services are being provided under the direction of Broadway Funeral Home in Galveston, Texas.

Theresa Adeline Morris
CHAPPELL HILL, TEXAS - Theresa Adeline Morris, 79, of Chappell Hill, Texas, died May 25, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Morris was born March 22, 1925, in Nocona, Texas, to Volney Howard and Ina Viola Chrisman. On July 17, 1948, she married
Joseph Doyle Morris.
Survivors include her son, Chris Morris and wife Anais Nelson of Austin; daughter, Debra Morris and husband Geoffrey Birkholz of Galveston; grandson, Clayton Morris of Georgetown; granddaughter, Rebecca Birkholz of Galveston; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat Howard and Lois Chrisman of Frederick, Colorado and Dan Middleton and Lynn Chrisman of Dallas.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2004, at 3630 W. Hilltop Dr. in Chappell Hill, Texas. The family will receive visitors at the family residence beginning at noon on Friday.

GALVESTON – William Newsome, 74, departed this life on Thursday, May 20, 2004, at UTMB Hospital.
Visitation will begin on Saturday, May 29, 2004, at 11 a.m. followed by funeral service at 1 p.m. in the chapel of E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary. Cremation service will follow.
William was born April 20, 1930, in Brenham, Texas. He was a retired laborer
He was preceded in death by his parents and his five siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Bearry; sons, William Charles, Jessie J. and Oscar Newsome; daughters, Angela Williams and Carrie Mae Morrison; stepchildren, Veda Handy, Kimberly Jones and Kevin Mills; niece, Lula Ferguson; provider, Brenda Winters; sister in law, Lucy Guess; cousins, William Newsome, Jr. and Audie and Evelyn McDonald; host of other relative and friends.

GALVESTON - Willie Mae Hymes, 65, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 29, 2004 at 12 noon, at Barbour's Chapel Baptist Church, 801 - 1st Ave North in Texas City, Texas with Pastor James Brown officiating. Graveside services will follow at Galveston Memorial Park cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m., until service time Saturday, May 29, 2004, at the church.
Willie Mae was born February 19, 1939, to Sylvester and Sylvia Rogers Lemons in Wilmont, Arkansas. She attended school in Arkansas and moved to Texas at an early age. Her vocation was nursing and was a Private Nurse for many years. She was devoted to her family, always interested in their accomplishments. She was a long time member of Barbour's Chapel Baptist Church of Texas City.
preceded in death by her parents and son, Jesse James Stanley, Willie Mae is survived by her daughters, Connie Hymes of Galveston, Patricia Mozie and husband Joseph of Texas City and Truly and Robert Hamilton of Texas City; son, Lenton Hymes, Jr. of Pearland; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters Beatrice Hymes of Columbia, Louisiana, Adline Ridgell of Crossett, Louisiana, Sylvia Martin of Columbia and Easter Mae Walker of Crossett; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
The family wishes to thank the staff of 10C and Scott and Angela of MICU at UTMB for their untiring care of Willie Mae during her last days.

GALVESTON - Choice Coleman, 86, departed this life on Monday, May 24, 2004, at Bay Oak Health Care Center in Texas City.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2004, followed by a wake from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. at E R Johnson Family Mortuary. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 28, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of Faith Market Street Baptist Church (2901 Market) with the Rev. Harvey Johnson, officiating. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn cemetery in Beaumont, Texas.
Choice was born September 6, 1917, in San Augustine, Texas. He was married
to the late Corine Lane and to this union one daughter was born the late Katherine Gamble Coleman. He moved to Beaumont and married
the late Annie Mae Coleman. He was a faithful member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church until his health fail and was retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital. He moved to Galveston the last four years of his life to be close to his family.
Left to cherish memories is his grandchildren, Barbara Coleman, Herman Gamble (Phyllis), Sharon Parker (Randle), Calvin Gamble, Jackie Gamble, Brenda Thomas (Larry) and Carolyn Gamble; numerous great grandchildren; devoted friends, Charles Jackson, Larry Thomas, Lucy Guess, Audrey Bearry, Adrienne Hughes, Lisa Smith and Pearl Heart; host of other relatives and friends.

LA MARQUE - On February 4, 1934, in Karnack, Texas born to the late Mr. Robert Ardell May and Evie McKenzie May their fifth child Lawrence May, Sr. the fourteenth of fifteen children. At an early age he accepted Christ and united with the Antioch Baptist Church and was educated in Harrison County Public Schools.
After the death of his parents, he moved to Dallas, Texas where his older sister, Ida Jacobs Freeman raised him. After reaching manhood, he relocated to La Marque, Texas to live with his older brother, Roy Ardell May, Jr. He met and married
Ms. Betty McCowan on December 29, 1972, and lived in La Marque until his death.
Lawrence was a devoted husband and father and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He worked for Don Tarpey Construction and Local Union 116 for 33 years until his retirement.
He was called to rest at 4 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Mainland Medical Center. He leaves to mourn his departure a loving and devoted wife of 31 years, Mrs. Betty May; daughter, Yolanda Fuller and husband, Lawrence of Dallas, Texas; four sons, Michael May of Tallahassee, Florida, Lawrence May, Jr., James May and James Taylor of La Marque; eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brother, Clinton May Karnack, Texas; three sisters, Ida Freeman, Eddiestean Davis of Dallas, Texas and Claudia V. Jones of Ft. Worth, Texas; two devoted sisters and brother-in-laws, Catherine and Andrew Jackson and Dorothy and Eddie Simmons of La Marque, Texas; a favorite niece and nephew, Dorothy Lucas and A.D. Smith of Houston, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Forest Park East Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Park East cemetery.
