HOUSTON - Amy Kathleen Blain passed away May 20, 2004. Mrs. Blain was born in Arnett, Oklahoma, August 10, 1916.
She is preceded in death by her husband Raymon Blain, son Richard Blain, and granddaughter Shelley Sikes. She is survived by her daughters, Toni Rodgers and husband Luke, and Erin Sikes; granddaughters Angie Whitener, Dana Wild and husband Steve; grandson Ray Shannon as well as four great-granddaughters.
Mrs. Blain enjoyed a long career as a proofreader for the Gulf Publishing Company, Houston Post, and the Houston Chronicle from where she retired after 18 years of service.
There will be a graveside service at the Galveston Memorial Park cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 22, 2004.

BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS - Benito G. Manzano, 69, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest on May 19, 2004, at Valley Regional Medical Center.
Benito was preceded in death by his parents, Diodoro G. Manzano and Natalia G. Manzano.
He is survived by his siblings, Rosa M. Larrasquitu of Brownsville, Natalia M. Acevedo of Florida and Eduardo G. Manzano of Brownsville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Resurrection was held Thursday, May 20, 2004, at Immaculate Concepion Cathedral and burial followed at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

TIMPSON, TEXAS - Florida Marie Sarvis, 77, of Timpson, Texas passed away Thursday, May 20, 2004, at her residence. Florida was born June 3, 1926, to John and Nora Branch in Apalachicola, Florida. She was a charter member of the Christian Heritage Church
Florida was preceded in death by her husband Luther Sarvis and son Ernest Wade Sarvis. She is survived by her daughter Linda Sarvis; sons Bobby Sarvis and Gaillen Sarvis; sister Nell Hardin; brothers Earl Branch, Sr. and Raymond Branch; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, May 22, 2004, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the chapel of the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, May 23, 2004, at the Christian Heritage Church, 3500 I- 45, La Marque, Texas with Rev. Gary Seay officiating. Burial to follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Sarvis, Gaillen Sarvis, Robyn Sarvis, Alan Sarvis, Jay Fabain and C. R. Branch.

HOUSTON - Mabel Hickman Puricelli, born January 2, 1926, in Baytown, Texas, grew up in Hortense Texas and attended Leggett High School, graduated in 1943, and moved to Houston Texas. Mabel retired from Hughes Tool Company advertising department in 1989.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father Bell and Robert Hickman and husband George Pearson.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Strickland, Mike Davis and Gregg Davis; a brother Clenzon Hickman and 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2004, at Forest Park East Funeral Home with burial to follow in Forest Park East cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 23, 2004, from 5-8 p.m.

SAN LEON-Mary LaTaine Blevins, 74, of San Leon, Texas, passed away on May 20, 2004, after a brief illness with cancer; she was born February 15, 1930, in Center, Texas. Mary was the retired owner of Blevins Shrimp & Oyster Co. in San Leon.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cherri and Blake Brannon; sons Paul Blevins, W.W. Blevins III and his wife Marilyn, and Steve Blevins; grandsons Josh Brannon, Chase Blevins, Wil Blevins, Austen Blevins, Aric Blevins and Alex Blevins; granddaughter Brittany Blevins; brother Maurice Allums; sisters Thelma Waldrup, Selma Moore and Verlie McFayden, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 23, 2004, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 24, 2004, at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow.

SADLER, TEXAS - Richard Scott Reed, 29, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Richard was born December 18, 1974, in East Liverpool, Ohio. He was a computer technician with ISC Computers in Sherman, Texas; U.S. Army veteran; an avid fisherman and wonderful father and husband.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Gayle Cody Reed of Sadler, Texas; three daughters, Rebecca Susan Reed, Laura Beth House and Leah House all of Sadler, Texas; father, John Reed of Menno, South Dakota; mother Trudy Reed of Palm Bay Florida; grandmother Eloise Reed of Quartzsite, Arizona; three brothers, John Kevin Reed of Texas City, Texas, Charles Clark Reed of Ocala, Florida, Allen Lang of Mobile, Alabama; two sisters Kimberli Reed of Galveston, Shannon Ybbeara of Bastrop, Texas; his aunt who reared him and uncle, Rebecca and Jacob Smith of San Leon, Texas; 11 nieces and nephews, and numerous other close family members.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 21, 2004, at Huff Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Huff Funeral Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas. Interment will follow at Basin Springs cemetery in Grayson County, Texas under the direction of Huff Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Tim Lewis, Terry Tucker, Brad Waters, Stephen Mathews, Larry Pheneger, Corbin Johnson and Jeff Bean.

Charles Joseph Sabatier, Sr.
SANTA FE - Charles Joseph Sabatier, Sr., 85, of Santa Fe, Texas passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at his residence. He was born May 11, 1919, in Galveston, Texas to the late Charles and Wilhelmina Schocke Sabatier. He served in the Marine Corp during WWII. Mr. Sabatier retired as a boilermaker out of Local 132, was a member of the VFW Post 5400, and the Knights of Columbus Council #5236 in La Marque. He was proud to have recently celebrated his 50th Anniversary with the Santa Fe Group of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in League City on Friday, May 21, 2004, at 10 a.m. with Monsignor Eugene Cargill officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Dickinson. The family will receive friends at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson on Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Sabatier, Brent Walker, Richard Ober, Chris Foreman, Jesse Catching, and Al Riggs.
Mr. Sabatier was preceded in death by his parents, and two daughters, Charlotte and Mary Ellen.
Survivors include three daughters, Lisa Sabatier, Sandy Saeed and Crystal Foreman and husband Chris; three sons, Charles Sabatier, Jr. and wife, Peggy, Mark Sabatier, Michael Sabatier and wife, Sandy; ex-wife and dear friend of 44 years, Edith Sabatier; a sister Jean Ober, and fourteen grandchildren.
