GALVESTON -Bennie E. Holomon, Jr., 86, passed away on, March 26, 2004, at his residents.
Visitation will begin today at 4PM with a wake held from 7-8PM. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 2nd at 11:00 AM at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary with Rev. Charles Wheat, officiating. Burial will be held at the Houston National cemetery.
Bennie was born October 5, 1917, in Huntsville, TX. He was retired from Monsanto Refinery and an auto mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby Holomon; two brothers and two aunts.
He is survived by his brother, Fredrick N. Holomon; stepdaughter, Walterene Johnson; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; niece, Betty Anderson; nephews, Fredrick and Fredrick L. Holomon; cousin, Gloria Haggerty; other relatives and friends.

David M. Blacklock, M. D.
AUSTIN - David M. Blacklock, M.D., 87, an Austin area resident, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2004.
Dr. Blacklock was born January 2, 1917, on a farm in Pflugerville, the 6th of 7 children. He graduated from U.T.~Austin in 1938, and married
Bonnie Jean Peachey in 1939. He served his country in WWII, subsequently entering medical school in Galveston in 1947. He was in general medical practice in La Marque, Texas for a number of years.
At age 39, David suffered a tragic injury leaving him with a physical disability. Although this defined the rest of his life, he refused to yield to it, and barely acknowledged it. With the unending support of his loving wife Bonnie, he continued to work and support his young family. Dr. Blacklock tended to his family for the rest of his life, working until the age of 82. He was a generous and caring family man, central to the well being of those close to him, and we will miss him greatly. He was a living example of courage and determination for his entire immediate and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bonnie Jean; sons, Dan and David; daughter, Bonnie Dale; brother, John and sister, Nora. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services celebrating Dr. Blacklock’s life, followed by committal services and military honors will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 2004, at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N. IH-35, Pflugerville, Texas.

HITCHCOCK - Franklin Simpson, 65, of Hitchcock, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004. He retired from UTMB Hospital in Galveston in 1993, after 10 years of service as an electrician.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; mother, Carrie; daughters, Danielle Simpson and Sheila Lyrock; sons and daughters-in-law, Edward Simpson, Johnny Simpson, Charlie Simpson, Steve and Judy Wardlow, Stanley and Carol Wardlow; sister, Christine and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 P.M. on Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2004, in the chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home. Private interment will follow at Forest Park East cemetery.

ALGOA - Mr. Jason Clayton Lee, 24, of Algoa, Texas passed away March 29, 2004.
Born in Waycross, Georgia, he had worked for the Palais Royal Company.
Survivors include his mother; Debra Carrigan; his step-father, E.W. Carrigan; a brother, Shaun Lee; numerous other family members.

VALLEJO - Joyce Marie McNeil, 53, departed this life on Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at her home in Vallejo, California, after a lengthy illness.
She was born August 12, 1950, in Galveston, Texas, worked as a Muni Transit Operator in Vallejo, for fourteen years, and was a member of Second Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Harry McNeil of Vallejo; daughter, Ronda Word of Richmond, Texas; stepdaughters, Andrea and Crystal McNeil, both of Vallejo; sons, Marquis and Shannasar McNeil, both of Vallejo; sisters, Ceilia J. Plummer of Vallejo, and Cynthia J. Plummer of Oakland; brother, Michael Plummer, Jr of Galveston; and grandchildren, Alona and Myles Word.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m., and a wake service will take place from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2004, at the chapel of Fields Funeral Services. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Lakeview cemetery in Galveston, Texas, with Rev. Kerry W. Tillmon, officiating.

WEST TEXAS CITY - Kevin Hicks was the son of Arlinda B. Garner and the late Barney O. Hicks.
He departed this life on Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother and step-father, Arlinda and James Garner; his brothers and sister, Gilbert Hicks of Austin, Jiva'Rio, Juan and Shamyra Hicks of Texas City and Byford Hicks of Galveston; his aunt, Annie Faye Coleman of Texas City; his uncles, Lee Coleman (Georgia) of Prairie View, Del Coleman (Sonya) of Hayward, California, Chancy Coleman of Texas City, Carl D. Hicks of Texas City; a good friend, Brian Moffett of Texas City; and a host of other family members and friends and his loving pet, Angel.
Kevin was kind and generous and he touched the hearts of those around him. The family would like to thank Dr. Wolf, Dr. Nickerson, Dr. Warner, Dr. Kocurek and Dr. Godinich; all the nurses and respiratory therapists at Mainland Medical Center for the special, professional and compassionate care given to Kevin during his illness.

Mary was born December 7, 1921, to Henry and Ida Miller in Trinity, Texas. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, dedicating her life to the care of her family. She loved to go fishing, taking her children along and loved to sing her favorite hymns at the top of her voice. She also liked to watch the birds as they fed on the seed she threw into the yard for them. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Galveston.

Norine Henderson Hoffman
TEXAS CITY - Norine Henderson Hoffman, 90, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004. She was born to Talitha Roe Minschew Henderson and Squire Perry Henderson on November 17, 1913, in Pittsburg, Texas, the eighth of ten children. She was a long time resident of Texas City and is survived by her son Roy H. Hoffman and wife Cindy; a beloved grandson, Adam Tyler Hoffman, who affectionately called her "Rhu-Rhu"; sister-in-law Rose Mary Henderson; brother-in-law H. W. Hoffman and wife Kay, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her late husband Roy A. Hoffman, Norine owned and operated Hoffman Lumber Company in Texas City for over 30 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Women’s Society of Christian Service, Rotary Anns, Business and Professional Women, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2004, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 3, 2004, in the chapel of Emken-Linton Funeral Home with Reverend Russell Aday officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas.
Pallbearers will be James G. Witte, Roger L. Kennedy, C. S. McFadin, R. Allen Stapleton, Kevin P. Blacketer and Bruce Henderson.
