Joe Louis Kimble “Mr. Joe K”
LA MARQUE - Funeral services for Mr. Joe Louis Kimble will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2004, at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church, 6333 Highway 6 in Hitchcock with Pastor William L. Randall Jr., officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to service time Sunday at the church. Burial will be Monday, January 26, 2004, at Houston National cemetery under the direction of Mainland Funeral Home of La Marque.
Joe, affectionately known as "Mr. Joe K" went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2004. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer (since 1989) and showed the perfect example of what the power of prayer can do. He was born February 10, 1932, in El Campo, Texas to the late Rev. Tennis and Rosie Kimble. He served two tours of duty in the Air Force, which until death, he professed to be the best branch of the military.
Joe was a member of Labor Local #116, Pride of Texas City Masonic Lodge #193 F & AM and after his retirement from Bachtel Corp in 1990, he became a dedicated "Paw-Paw". Prior to his illness, Joe was active in the church family of Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church where he served faithfully in the Sanctuary Choir, the Mighty Men Chorus, the Brotherhood and Theatrical productions. He also served on the staff of Mainland Funeral Home of La Marque.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Lula Kimble, Lela Kimble Giles and Dorothy Kimble Robinson; brothers, Alex and Rev. Marshall J. Kimble and a daughter, Baby Girl Kimble.
He leaves to cherish and mourn his memory his daughters, Sonia Kimble and Margaret Simon; son, Bryan Crowder; grandchildren, Marshal, Morgan, Caleb, Chester and Richard; brother, David Kimble; sister-in-law, Minnie L. Kimble; and a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Lillie Channel, Jacqueline Wade and Robin Wright (Vitas Hospice); as well as his Greater St. Matthews Church family and many, many special and devoted family members and friends.

DESTIN, FLORIDA - Jerry Warner, 73, passed away Friday, January 16, 2004, in Destin, Florida after a long battle with cancer. He was born February 2, 1930, was a member of N.M.U. for forty plus years and a member of Elks Lodge #126 in Galveston.
Jerry will be missed by family and friends.

On Saturday morning, January 17, 2004, a day of celebration, the Lord called from labor to reward the soul of his beloved servant, Elder Clarence C. Earls, on his 73rd birthday.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2004, at College View Church of God in Christ - 224 - 4th Street North in Texas City. A memorial service will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the church. The homegoing celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2004, at La Marque Chapel Church of God in Christ, 4 South Algeria in Texas City. Supt. Harry Allen, pastor; Elder Kurt Thompson, officiant and Bishop Rufus Kyles, Jurisdictional Prelate of Texas Southeast Jurisdiction #1 as Proclaimer of the Word. Burial will follow services at Rising Star cemetery in La Marque under the direction of Mainland Funeral Home of La Marque.
Elder Earls was born to the union of Clarence C. and Pearlie M. Lewis Earls in Galveston, Texas. He was the eldest of five children born to this union. He was a graduate of Central High School in Galveston; and served his country in the U.S. Armed Forces. He furthered his education in Divinity at Charles Harrison Mason Bible College and Southern Bible College of Houston.
Elder Earls was a true man of God. He was an administrator, a financier, a builder, a teacher and a Holy Ghost Filled preacher. He served various churches during his ministry in the Church of God in Christ and served as Pastor and Shepherd of College View Church of God in Christ for 29 years. He was also active in the Galveston District and State Convention.
He leaves to celebrate his victory and cherish his memories, a loving family, a loyal wife of 39+ years, Missionary Victory Deloris Williams Earls; a son, Kenneth Ray Earls of Arlington; two daughters, Jacqueline Denise Earls Wise (Joe) of Beaumont and Victory Lashay Earls of Texas City; one sister, Debra Ann Earls of Boston, Mass.; one brother, Deacon Melvin M. Earls of Texas City; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; the College View Church Family; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Dorothy Turner
TEXAS CITY - Dorothy Turner, 71, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at her residence in Texas City, Texas. Ms. Turner was born on July 2, 1932, in San Antonio, Texas, to William and Nora Hussey. She was a resident of Texas City for over fifty years, and a member of St. George Episcopal Church in Texas City.
Ms. Turner is preceded in death by her parents; her former husband and father of her children, Grady Turner; her daughter, Donna Turner; two sisters, Elaine Vance and Eunice Bullard; and two brothers, Bill Hussey and John Hussey.
She is survived by her daughter Debbi Bolen and husband Jesse of Texas City; her son Ron Turner of Texas City; two sisters, Betty Ford of Houston, Texas and Doris Bray of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Jason Bolen of Sugarland, Texas, Shea Bolen of Texas City, Texas, and Josh Turner of Texas City, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 23, 2004, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the chapel of the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, Texas. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 24, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home, with interment to follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas, with Chaplain B.J. Schipper officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jason Bolen, Shea Bolen, Josh Turner, Randy Turner, Leslie Bullard and Jim West. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Blackmon and Reed Blanton.

Charles Marion Nallie, Sr.
Charles Marion Nallie, Sr. was born in Galveston, Texas on November 1, 1948 to Robert Marion Nallie and Isadora Guarnelo Nallie and returned home on January 19, 2004.
Charles is proud to call Shirley Marie Nallie his wife, who he affectionately called his "girlfriend", of 33 years. He was honored to share the birth of four of his most treasured accomplishments, Charles Jr., Shirley Christianna, Paul Martin and Mikal Monica. He was overjoyed by his 14 grandchildren and step-grandchildren. He is survived by four loving brothers, Robert, Claude, Michael and Patrick, and one dear sister, Lorene Nieto.
Charles was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he contracted hepatitis C, the disease which drained his energy and ravaged his liver. With the comfort of his children, Charles passed peacefully into heaven at University Hospital in San Antonio. Services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1604-9th Avenue North, Texas City, Texas. A rosary will be held on Friday, January 23, 2004, at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2004, at 12 noon.

PEARLAND, TEXAS - Carol Lee Camp passed away in a tragic mobile home fire on January 21, 2004.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 24, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 4613 Highway 3, Dickinson, Texas with the Reverend Tom Day officiating.
Survivors include her son, Steven R. Camp and wife Chelsea; parents, Roger and Barbara Sweeny; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Keith Glenn, their children, Justin and Ryan Wingo; and Sandra and Seth Martin and their children, Ethan and Alyssa Martin and several cousins.

Sammye Boatman Kolius
GALVESTON - Sammye Boatman Kolius, 67, of the West End of Galveston Island, died early Thursday morning, January 22, 2004.
Mrs. Kolius was born in Nacogdoches, Texas and was a retired secretary for the Law Firm of Jamail and Kolius.
She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-one years, Gus Kolius, whom she met while working at the Firm of Jamail and Kolius. Other survivors include her step- daughters Catherine and her husband John Focke, Susan and her husband Christian Fouilloud-Buyat, and step-son John and his wife Joanne Kolius; three sisters Nell Rumley of Nacogdoches, Ruby McClelland of Maurice-Velle, and Pat Blacksher of Nacogdoches. Mrs. Kolius is also survived by several grandchildren and numerous nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2004, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, 3028 Broadway, Galveston. The gathering of family and friends will begin at 12 noon with services starting at 12:30.

Marguerite Julia Galan
She was of the Greatest Generation. Born into hardship, she sacrificed for her mother and younger brother and taught the simple yet time-honored traits to her family.
Marguerite Julia Galan, 94, passed from this life to re-unite with her mother and brother under the eternal care and warmth of the Lord. Born June 10, 1909, in Galveston, Texas she lived her life trusting in her God and living her life in honor and dignity. She taught her family the lessons of patience and tolerance, generosity and kindness, of bettering oneself and to help the next person.
The bereavement of losing her from this lifetime is countered by knowing she's returned home to her mother, Rebecca Galan, and brother, Thomas R. Galan, Sr.
Ms. Galan leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews each of which she was kind and loving. We'll miss her, give thanks for knowing her and learning from her, and keep the memories in our heart.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2004, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at J. Levy & Bro. Vanda Baldassari
Miss Vanda Baldassari, 90, of Galveston, passed away Friday, January 23, 2004, at Gulf Health Care Center.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 26th, at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica with Father John LaBauve, SVD, as Celebrant. Burial will follow the service at Calvary cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 4- 6 p.m., Sunday, January 25th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m., led by Father Beni Wego.
Vanda was born February 7, 1913, in Galveston, Texas and was a lifelong resident of the island. She worked as an insurance underwriter for Ayers Insurance Company from 1938 until her retirement. Vanda served as secretary to the Galveston Insurance Board and was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica.
She is survived by her brother, Gerald Baldassari, of Galveston; niece, Tina S. Miller, of Houston; and great nephew, Tom Miller, of Houston; and numerous other relatives and friends.
