Mary Katherine Cadigan Bohn

GALVESTON — Mary Katherine Cadigan Bohn, 82, shook the beach sand from between her toes for the last time on Tuesday, December 7, 2004, as she passed to her eternal rest with the Lord. Mary was a third generation BOI, graduated in 1939 from Ball High School and worked at ANICO. She spent most of her married life as a homemaker and loving mother, a wonderful cook, and spent several years as a librarian at O'Connell High School. Many hours were spent volunteering for Little League, Pony League, Colt League, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, St. Patrick's PTA, Ursuline's PTA, Kirwin PTA and O'Connell PTA. Mary was also a member of St. Patrick's Altar Society, an honorary member of the Ursuline Alumni and a member of her "Club".

She is preceded in death by her husband, R. J. Bohn, Jr., her children, John Daniel, Katherine Mary, and Janet Elizabeth; and her brother, George Francis Cadigan, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Judy Castillo (Joe), Nancy Kageler (Woody, M.D.), Bobby Bohn (Carolyn), Georgia Ladd (Tom), Paul M. Bohn (Linda J.), Peggy Hooks (Bill), David P. Bohn (Susan), Jimmy Bohn (Linda), Patty Ewert, M.D. (Mike); grandchildren, Natalia Sizemore and Kyle Castillo, Brian Kageler and KK Kageler; Mike Bohn, Paul A. Bohn and Michelle Lyle; Jeni Ladd and Kayla Ladd; Kathy Allen, David M. Bohn, Frank Bohn and Allison Bohn; Adam Hooks, Lauren Boening, Sarah Boening and Jack Boening; Sarah Christensen, Brett Bohn; LCPL Scott Bohn, USMC, Randy Bohn, and Janet Bohn; Andy Ewert, Megan Ewert and Allen Ewert; and 14 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters, Pat Loesch and Ellen Guy, and numerous friends and relatives whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2004, at J. Levy & Bro. Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. A mass will be concelebrated on Friday, December 10, 2004, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Father John Paul Flajole and Father Frank Fabj. Burial will follow at Calvary cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her 13 grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be beloved members of her "Club", Bunnie Ott, Dorothy Pat Fisher, Gloria Yarbrough, Ursula Marinelli and Margaret Marinelli.

The family would like to thank the spouses who opened their homes to our mother in her last years, especially Linda J. Bohn and Mike Ewert, who have generous hearts of welcome, love and care.

Mary had a heart that loved others greatly; a heart that bore the sorrow of the loss of parents, spouse, children, and a brother; that carried the joy of motherhood. Her heart was devoted to the Virgin Mary and above all loved her God. Her heart served her faithfully for almost 83 years; and after beating approximately 3 1/2 billion times, took her home to Heaven. Her love and prayerful guidance will be forever missed and always remembered.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to either St. Patrick’s Church or the Texas Commission for the Blind.

Marjorie Katherine Anderson

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." Timothy II 4:6-7

GALVESTON — Marjorie Katherine Anderson, 90, passed away on December 3, 2004, in Galveston. Following cremation at Malloy and Son Funeral Home, a memorial will be held at a later date for family and friends to celebrate her life.

Marjorie was born in Galveston on March 5, 1914, to Seymour Moffitt and Fredericka Lalor, both of who survived the 1900 Storm. Her ancestors played active roles in Galveston's past. Her father's maternal grandfather, Caleb Seymour, served on the Confederate vessel Bayou City when it captured the Harriet Lane in the 1863 Battle of Galveston.

Her paternal grandfather, William Moffatt, was the last chief of Galveston's volunteer fire corps and helped organize the first paid force in the 1880s. Her maternal grandfather was Joseph Lalor, an Irish immigrant who ran a namesake dry goods store in the 1890s. Her mother's maternal grandfather was Dr. August Von Galny, an entrepreneur and physician who founded a midwifery school in the 1890s.

Marjorie was baptized at St. Mary's Cathedral and received a Catholic education. She attended the Cathedral School and Ursuline Academy and later worked at American National.

In 1932 she married Herbert Anderson, a seafarer and grandson of Anderson Ways shipbuilder Charles Anderson. After the birth of her only child, Marjorie Ann, she became a fulltime homemaker and enjoyed a modest but vibrant family life. She enjoyed cooking, baking and was a gifted gardener. She liked to sketch, draw and write poetry. An avid reader, she kept informed of local and international news. She was patriotic and believed strongly in our nation's ideals. She voted in every election from 1936 until the recent 2004 vote.

She loved her family above all else. She cared dearly for her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Despite hardships, she always kept a positive outlook. She was a devout Christian and a true friend. During her life, she was a member of various groups, including the American Legion Auxiliary, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Galveston Garden Club.

Her husband, Herbert Anderson, and her siblings, Seymour Moffitt, Jr. and Blanche Moffitt Havard, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Anderson Henck; grandson, Harrold Henck, Jr., and son-in-law, Harrold Henck, Sr.; all of Galveston; a granddaughter, Helen Henck Willcockson, and two great granddaughters, Lani and Kara Willcockson, all of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Her ashes will be interred at Houston National Veterans cemetery where her spouse, a World War II veteran, is buried.
