Glenda Mae (Mae Mae) Brandon
LA MARQUE - Glenda was born October 16, 1959 and was taken from this earth on December 10, 2004 to be with the Lord.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Randal J. Brandon, Sr.; her sons, Randal J. Brandon, Jr. and wife, Amy, Joshua David Brandon; daughter, Misty Michelle Pearson and husband, Donnie; her grandchildren she loved and adored, Kelsey Mae Brandon, Beretta Colt Brandon, Drysten Raige Pearson, Hunter Ray Pearson and soon to be Stormie or Brandon Pearson; mother, Omeria Milligan; siblings, Glen Milligan, Ray Milligan and wife, Cindy, Linda Elkins, Donald Milligan; special friends, Martha Moore and Sandy Hamil.
Glenda was employed for several years by Kay Conly State Farm of La Marque and Wayne Faircloth State Farm of Dickinson. She was very active in her children‚s lives from school functions to all extra-curricular activities and enjoyed going to her grand-children‚s games as often as her health permitted. She was loved and cherished and will be missed deeply by all who knew her.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2004, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Mr. Daniel Burd officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Dickinson.
Casketbearers will be T. J. Brandon, Todd Hernandez, Donald Milligan, Glen Milligan, Ray Milligan and Donnie Pearson. Derrick Alvarado and David Burd will serve as honorary bearers.

Osa D. Smith
SANTA FE — Mr. Osa D. Smith passed from this life Saturday morning in Texas City.
Born January 16, 1916, in Bedias, Texas, Mr. Smith proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 13th Tank Battalion and fought in the African Campaign. He married
Beatrice Stanley in November of 1945, and they moved to Hitchcock where he supported his young family by working for Union Carbide for over 30 years, retiring as a Chief Operator. After retirement he and Beatrice lived in Livingston for 25 years and attended Charity Tabernacle Pentecostals of Livingston where they would form many solid friendships. They moved to Santa Fe in 1998 and continued to serve the Lord as faithful Christians and members of the Pentecostals of Santa Fe until Beatrice's death in September of 2004.
preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice; his brothers, Albert, Emory and Ray and his sister, Ruby, his survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Fayerene Smith of Santa Fe; brother and sister-in-law, Aubrey Lee and Neomah Smith of Lufkin; grandchildren, Gary Kyle Smith, Belinda K. Smith, Randi L. Eaton and her husband, Ronald and great-grandson, Colton.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at Charity Tabernacle Pentecostals of Livingston, with Dr. Clark E. Lott officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m., at Pilgrim cemetery in Elkhart, Texas, under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Casketbearers will be Randi L. Eaton, Johnny Greenough, Phillip Houlton, Mark Neal, Belinda K. Smith and Gary K. Smith.

Geraldine "Gerri" Barrett-Sanders
GALVESTON — Geraldine "Gerri" Barrett-Sanders, 78, received her reward of eternal rest on Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at UTMB Hospital.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m., Tuesday, December 14, 2004, followed by a wake from 7 - 8 p.m., at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary with the Rev. Keith Williams, Sr. Officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview cemetery.
Gerri was born June 28, 1926, in Rusk County, to Noble and Mable Barrett. Gerri was baptized at an early age. Gerri retired from Galveston Independent School District Food Service Department. Gerri was so well respected and thought of throughout the community. During her lifetime there were so many lives that she touched. She was a faithful member of the Turner's Pride # 470 Court of Calanthe.
Gerri was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Barrett-Thomas and Myrtle Barrett-Moore; two daughters, Gloria Sanders-Pollard and Marilyn Harvey.
She leaves to cherish her memory two devoted daughters, Yvonne Sanders of Galveston and Marsha Sanders-Brown (Herbert) of Houston; Godchild, Ja'Mal Greer of Galveston; stepdaughter, Yoneda Sanders-Rabb of West Texas City; eleven grandchildren, Shan Combs, Robert Harvey, Ann Irvin, Gerald Sanders, Rev. Keith Williams (Shanqle), Sr., Bertrille Williams, Damon Sanders, Roshonda Simpson (Marlo), Shanarian Barnes (Les), Rachel Sanders (Derrick) and Samantha Williams (Clarence); sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; loving sister, Juanita Lee of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Releford Barrett of Longview, Texas and Wheller Barrett (Joyce) of Dallas Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Nicky Carol Porter was born to the union of Andrew and Lenora Wilson on October 20, 1948, in Galveston, Texas. God called Nicky home on Thursday, December 9, 2004, after a lengthly illness. Her family was at her bedside.
Nicky graduated from Ball High School in 1967. She attended and graduated from North Texas State University in 1967 with a B.S. in Medical Technology and later from UTMB as a Medical Technologist. Nicky was a member of Primm Chapel AME Church, in LaMarque where she served in many capacities. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and a charter member of Epsilon Mu Chapter.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father. Nicky is survived by her husband of 33 years, Dr. Clarence M. Porter of San Antonio; two sons, Taz Porter of San Antonio and Clarence M. Porter, II (Montray) of Houston; two sisters, Jo Ann Freeman (James) of Texas City and Artie Preadom of Port Arthur; two brothers, R. Roger Wilson (Caryl) of Pearland and Roy Lee Wilson of LaMarque; three grandchildren, Sasha Porter, Sidney DeBlanc and Spencer DeBlanc of Houston; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, many friends and relatives.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 14th at the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel in LaMarque. There will be no wake. The Home Going Celebration will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at McKinney Memorial United Methodist Church, 1607 Nashby in LaMarque, with Rev. Arthur Ferguson delivering the eulogy. She will be laid to rest in Forest Park East cemetery in Webster.

Nattie Morrow, 81, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2004, in Galveston, TX. Nattie is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Morrow and daughter, Victoria Lynn McDaniel. She is survived by her daughters, Sylvia Austin and husband Don and Esther Cunningham and husband Ray; sons, Robert Morrow and wife Irene and Dan Morrow and wife Becky; brothers, Sando J. Alphonse and Peter Alphonse and wife Rosalee; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous loving family members and friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 14, 2004, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home. David was born August 7, 1953 in Norphlet, Arkansas and moved to Texas City in 1954. He attended La Marque High School, Texas City Missionary Baptist Church, was a veteran of the US Air Force, and he was an Auto Technician serving the greater Houston area for 30 years.

John Doro, Jr., 56, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at The University of Texas Medi-cal Branch, Galveston. Funeral Services will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 14, 2004 in the Memorial Room of Broadway Funeral Home, Galveston, with Rev. Richard Brand, officiating. Cremation will follow services.
John was born September 14, 1948 in Steingaden, Germany, a child born abroad to American parents, John Doro, Sr. and wife, Phyllis Doro. Working several years in child and adult advocacy programs, he began his career working for The Yeager Home for Children until such time that he became employed as a Case Manager for The Children’s Center, Inc. John dedicated himself to helping those in need. He touched the lives of many people from all walks of life. He directed his energy in so many ways that would benefit those around him. To John, there was always a way to assist someone, always time to help and direct someone and always a care and concern so genuine and so giving. He will be deeply missed by those whose lives benefited from his dedication and kindness. In his spare time, John enjoyed watching sci-fi movies and was an avid supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

DICKINSON – Wilson Benton Bridges died December 12, 2004. Born May 2, 1924, he graduated from Reagan High School and Rice University. He served in World War II and for many years in the Army reserve. He enjoyed a long career as a Chemical Engineer and was a long time resident of Dickinson, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Bridges; children, Lisa DelMonico and Lloyd Bridges; grandchildren, Holly DelMonico and Max Bridges, and sisters, Ruby Barton and Joy Rodgers.

WEST TEXAS CITY - Joseph C. Gilmore, Jr. was born to the union of Joseph Carl Gilmore, Sr. and Geneva Babino Gilmore on April 18, 1950 in Galveston, Texas.
Joe, as he was fondly known, was educated in the public schools of Texas City, Texas. He was baptized at an early age in the Catholic Church.
Joe passed from this earthly life December 10, 2004 at Hermann Memorial Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas at the age of 54. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph C. Gilmore, Sr.
